    As a long time Sony user and owner of an A7R IV I can tell you that's terrible advice at the end. The higher megapixels make it much, much worse for taking videos, as it has to downsample (or crop) more. This brings a host of issues for video - ranging from longer read-times on the sensor, rolling shutter, overheating issues etc. etc. You want to be as close to native as possible if you want to take high resolution videos - this is why the video-focused A7S series caps resolution at 12mp (4k native). 61mp is just way too much resolution for either the A7R IV or V to be a practical video shooter beyond the odd short video here and there.
    Get a camera from the A7R line over the "standard" 7 if you care more about stills than you do about video. Go for the "normal" A7 line if its 50/50 and go for the A7S if you are primarily after video.

      I want to shoot sports photography for professional work, mainly soccer. I think the A7IV is a much better option for me than the A7RIV. What do you think?

    • @JimIBobIJones
      @JimIBobIJones 8 месяцев назад +3

      @@adrianyaelzamora depends how professional you are going and what you want to do with your photos. Ultimately there are better cameras out there for professional/dedicated sports photography (the Sony A1 or the new A9 III for example).
      If you are after video then A7 4 will be better.
      For stills it's more complicated.
      The big thing for sports photography is continuous shooting rate - and there they are tied at 10 FPS.
      Both will have their advantages outside of that. A7 4 will have a newer processor and better autofocus but the R4 will have much better resolution. So do you want an easier time focusing or does your use case benefit from higher resolution?

    • @RohannvanRensburg
      @RohannvanRensburg 2 месяца назад +1

      Comparisons show that rolling shutter isn't really worse on the A7R5 vs the A7IV.

    • @JimIBobIJones
      @JimIBobIJones 2 месяца назад +1

      @RohannvanRensburg well the r5 uses the same sensor so the readout is going to be the same speed. But v.s. the non r 4 it's much slower readout, its 50% slower at 100ms for full sensor readout compared to 100ms for the r4/r5 sensor.
      50 slower readout is a lot slower...

The one thing that makes me truly jealous is the new screen. The tilt-out/flip-out screen is just so much better than the simple flip-out screen, which is itself an improvement over the tilt-out-only screen.

To me in an exaggeration version this feels like comparing the r4 vs the s3. Nowadays you could do a a4 vs s3 bc the a4 is often used instead of the s3 nowadays

      sometimes yes I don't see why not get an a7r3 over a7iv depending on your needs. though the r3 is weaker in terms of video capability cuz it doesn't have the 10 bit recording. though if you don't shoot video, r3 got a top tier output for photos still

    Or, if you can wait for the a7V to be released you might get the preferred 33mp with the tech of the a7RV. Hopefully! ;)

      You mean in 4 years? If Sony follows it's cycle, a new version is released every 4-5 years 😊

      @@ludovicavice3496 None of the a7 iterations took four years. I checked and the average time between model updates was 2.7 years and it’s been 1.75 years since the release of the a7IV. The longest gap was 3.67 between the III and IV so perhaps it could be a while but Sony’s competition with Canon (R6II) might produce an update sooner.

      If someone if sony shotter and has 20 E mount lenses why would they ever buy canon? camera is only 10% of the cost, the rest is glass. I'm not going to buy canon because tis cheaper and then have to buy 100k worth of new lenses. So there is no point even to compare.

    This is a dumb comparison. You should be drawing a comparison between the a7riv and the a7rv

    Absolutely worth the extra money. The A7 IV’s viewfinder and screen are trash by comparison.

    Just 3900$ for a A7RV? Lol, where do you live? It's more like 4500$.

      Prices were taken from Amazon.com as of the time of recording, but obviously prices will fluctuate and vary depending on where you live and where you shop. It would be impossible for me to name a price that is 100% correct for everyone at all times.
