    When I watch these great videos .. with all the continuing progress being done using the various tools and equipment .. on your future building site and farmstead .. it's so easy for me to forget, a times, that you guys are also accomplishing all this off grid. Thanks for allowing me along on this project.

    Hi again! Good job! That's not going anyplace for sure. A strong permanent structure. No more temporary stuff! Won't be long and you'll be working on the house yay! That will be a great day for you all! Thx for sharing...

    Excellent craftsmanship, Jeremy. I hope that sometime in the future, Jamie and the girls can use their artistic skills to paint the pump house in a whimsical cottage style, perhaps with faux windows and a weather vane. ( :-) just my imagination going wild.)

    One thing I would do is put that rubber spray (Flex stuff) on the lower outside walls. Then you could fill in the area with dirt to level with the rest of the area. Just a thought.

    Jeremy my grandfather had a similar well house when I was a child. He installed a homemade crane to lift the roof and rotate it away from the well house. He lost his arm in the Pacific during WW2 and was always coming up with great ways to make life easier. Don't know if it's practical or even needed for y'all but just a thought.

    I made plans for our well house over the winter. Ours will be bolted to a concrete base and will completely disassemble in case work on the well needs to be done. When our pump was replaced, they had to have a rig right over the top of it if i remember correctly. At any rate, I designed the house to hold a portable generator as well in case of a power outage, then we will just store the generator there.
    Here's a tip: the first pump went out on a very hot summer when a giant ant colony decided to move into the well head. They kept dropping down the well and finally burned out the motor. It was clogged with thousands of ants. We now use Amdro spikes to keep ants far away.

    • @mwatkins2464
      @mwatkins2464 5 лет назад +1

      Keith Brookshire that’s how most all well houses are built with a removable roof. If the person knows what they are doing

    • @keithbrookshire
      @keithbrookshire 5 лет назад +1

      @@mwatkins2464 I own a rental property with a well and we'll house but it has been on the public water system since before I bought it. Next time I need to do any maintenance I'll check it out to see if this is the case for my particular we'll house.

    • @mwatkins2464
      @mwatkins2464 5 лет назад

      Keith Brookshire it just depends on the person building it. My grandpa has one that wasn’t removable but by pulling a few nails it would come off . If I was to build one I would put an O ring in the middle of the roof so it could be lifted off by a well driller if needed.

    You should use pressure treated lumber anytime you put wood onto any concrete surface, you can bypass that if you go a buy some wood treatment and a paint brush you can treat that lumber helps keep wood from rotting .
