Having seen Winger in the glory days of hair bands in the late 80's & early 90's, I was eager to see if the band was still as tight. Quite honestly, I was also curious to see if they still had a loyal groupie turnout from the MTV era as well.
The Fayetteville Dogwood festival is renown for booking acts from the days of yesteryear, such as Quiet Riot, Night Ranger, Skid Row, and now, Winger had the chance to prove they're still alive & kicking.
Kip Winger, Reb Beach, Rod Morganstein, John Roth, & Paul Taylor took the stage amid a few sound & technical issues
Kip & Reb ran over repeatedly to the side of the stage begging the sound enginneers to adjust their monitors to prevent their ears out from blowing out. (Kip actually had to step back 10 feet from the monitor several times with the look that he was all most run over by a speeding 18 wheeler)
Once settled in the, band got into the groove and played their hearts out.
With new songs like "Stone Cold Killer" and even rarely played catalog gems like "Rainbow in the Rose", a festive hard-rocking audience got their moneys worth, even though it was a free concert.
Best part of the show though, was when a 14 year old fan pushed his way up to the front row right beside me, getting in front of the drunk guy which spilled beer on me twice. The kid was singing every song lyric with his fist in the air every second! There's still hope for metal, folks!
These guys are still tighter than ever and haven't missed a beat!

Got to see these guys twice. I was 15 and 17. I'd give almost anything to have the 80s back.
Love this band! Winger has been one of, if not, my fav band since seeing them live in 1991 - lastly in 2022. The drums Rod put down in "Headed For A Heartbreak" are freaking mind blowing! REB BEACH,,DUDE❤🔥that solo is still amazing in 2023 and to infinity and beyond!!!🤘🏻Kip Winger is the most drop dead gorgeous and talented man I have ever seen😻❤🔥
Damn!! That's one outstanding band! Kip can still sing great. Wow!!
They still sound just like they did back in the 80’s. Great band
Didn't Beavis and Butt-head used to pick on kids with Winger t-shirts on come on people this group sucked in the eighties and they still suck
@Captain Sternn the comment I made was a joke but when it comes right down to it Winger was a run-of-the-mill band Mike Judge the creator of Beavis and Butt-head was right on point when he put the fat sissy kid in a Winger shirt that's what they epitomized and you're calling Metallica and AC DC generic obviously you didn't grow up in the 70s it's senseless to try to explain to somebody how powerful and influential a group like AC DC for instance was bottom line is Winger's sucked and they still suck and your pathetic opinion about the group Winger sucks what the hell will they ever be remembered for I'm not even going to argue with someone who doesn't even know what the hell they're talkin about
@@vincebalosky771 Yesh.
Bad Ass!!!! They sound Great! Kip sounds as good as ever, and Reb, well, Reb is the man and always has been!
The mighty Winger sounding awesome! Thanks for posting.
Reb's guitar tone is ripping my head off!!! Sooooooooooooooooooooooooo good!
One of the best and most underrated guitarists.
*They sound great and it's the original 4 guys (+1). Reb was nailing those leads. Kip's vocals are excellent too.* Thanks for posting!
Kip and the boys showing age is just a number & they can still bring it and sound terrific. Great musicians stand above the crowd, I dont think Kip ever cared much about the whole hair scene and image, he was about the music, same goes for Reb, who is one of the best guitarists few people know about- keeping kicking a** boys!
Many thanks for the upload, Winger's most unbeatable advantages are their lineup of really outstanding musicians and their tracklist of really great songs. These two very rarely meet together. Wish I was there, though nice quality !
Reb Beach rules!!
This was on my BIRTHDAY!!! WHAT A PRESENT...
One of the best 80's rock ballad solos. Rebs and John Sykes is this love solos are the top 2.
As phenomenal as always. Awesome musicians that they are defy the test of time, performing the songs we love so much as potently as when they first emerged. Vocally, instrumentally they are as tight as they have always been. Each band member an essential part of the whole. Thanks Kip for all the joy you spread along with your “band of
brothers “
What can I say. Brought tears to my eyes. Always been a fan of Winger and never saw them live. This is as close as I can get. Glad to see they still rock. And Reb Beach still is a bad ass guitar player. Thanks for the vid.
Slave To Metal You should try to catch one of their shows!!! They are still playing live! I’ve caught them twice myself, they are awesome live. Reb is amazing as ever, and Jon Roth is bad ass as well. Kip is still a song writing maniac, he writes symphony music now in his spare time. All amazing musicians.
Amazing musicians indeed. Lucky you. Cheer sponsau.
I was 15 years old, my first concert, when I saw them live. Man, they've changed so much, but it's so awesome that they're still rocking it, and sound damn good!
Kip and Reb are a Monsters of Rock....
I am so glad I came across this video. Thanks for sharing!!
Linda Royer I have one up too. Check it out 😎
Look at all those Marshall stacks. OHHHH MYYYY! Damn these guys still sound great. : )
Dave Upton
Reb doesn’t usually use Marshall amps, this is a rental backline. Reb’s sound is usually a lot better with his Suhr amps.
lol...you know they are empty....just for show...like Kiss. Please tell me you know that
Steve. Kiss 20000 this not. Go back to your basement and learn facts. You probably vote what the media says. Hence you live in the basement
I have been playing guitar for 20 years and teaching for the last 6. I know a musician with talent and those who are not.. Kip Winger is talent and then some. The band is very good. Kiss is fun and also irrelevant here. These are musicians, plain and simple. I am blessed in being able to play guitar the way I do, and appreciate anyone who knows how to read and write music as well. Carry on.
BTW, I have a Parker fly signed by the guy, and now I'm going to jam out. Please excuse me
@@Darbymitch101 Amen..I was raised into the music industry by my Dad he's gone but I'm still listen to ppl..Rock on!
They're the greatest :-D And just look at them..all original members still rockin' :-D
I was there, this guys are amazing. so f....great!
Saw these guys when I was 16 awesome band Reb the great tapper.had so much fun those rock days
Perfect like the 80's!
Many thanks for uploading this, Jack. Still at the top of their game after all these years, and not many, if any, backing vocals on tape that I could hear, which is pretty brave for a bunch of middle-aged men with songs that have a lot of high-pitched backing vocals. I thought I heard some on Seventeen on first listen but I'm not so sure now.
Reb was singing his ass off.....Everyone but Rod was singing backups. Tight band!!!
That's as good a version as they ever did--arguably better, given the presence of the second guitar. Rod Morgenstein hadn't lost a step when this was recorded. I used to play along (or at least try...) to his parts back in the 80s/90s. He's a beast on the kit.
Good stuff here--thanks for uploading it!
awesome these 5 guys still tour together between their other projects/bands...
I'm really surprised that Kip still sounds just like he did back in the day. Most singers lose their ability to hit the higher notes and have to drop the key. These guys sound as good as the albums.
Rod and Reb are so underrated players. Rods drum fills are incredible and Reb can shred yet he’s so melodic
reb is a melodic shredder
Great footage Jack !Nice to see HD concert with Winger, they are my favorite band since late 80's.Cheers,,
Kip sounds great 👍 great memories of my teenage years and great music 🎵❤️
Timeless musical perfection
These guys are so damn great! Love that they still jam, and Reb Beach is a monster guitar player 🎸🔥.
Nice! Thanks for sharing!
\m/\m/
Thanks for sharing this! Enjoyed it!
Saw These Guy's In Atlanta And They Crushed !!! Still Killers !!
Cool to see Paul with them
This was awesome! Thanks for posting this!
Would love to see them live, my all time fave band since ‘88😍
Добре, що Реб разом з Кіпом, а Кіп у Winger!!!🎸🔥💪
I was fortunate enough to see and meet them all in Hawaii back in 89.
Rod Morgenstien is a beast!
Correct sir
The professor of rock drumming!
You got that right!! And the little twerp Lars in Metallica had the nerve to talk smack about the band. That's a joke. Rod has more talent in his little toe than Lars will have in 5 lifetimes!!!! Fact!!!
Reb's beer belly!! have followed these guys since from their Sahara days!
Still got it 🤗
they are still giitin it gives me hope
Such a tight band and all original members .. love to see it
Awesome!
Cool you got see Winger I'm also fan.
Like your video
Wow they're still really solid! Great show :)
best solo ever reb,, you are the man reb
More weight, less hair, but still a lot of talent . I miss the 90ies .
This was 80's !!!
love you guys.
Reb Beach is a beast!
The tsar, in the words of Kotoshikhin, made him his ruler over the state in all matters, indulging himself in "humility and prayer." So enormous was the influence of Boris on the tsar and on affairs. According to the already mentioned book. Katyrev-Rostovsky, he seized such power, "as if I were obedient to the king himself in everything" . He ruled intelligently and carefully, and the fourteen-year reign of Fedor was a time of rest for the state from pogroms and fears of the oprichnina. The same contemporary writes, the Lord took pity on his people and granted them a prosperous time, allowed the tsar to reign quietly and serenely, and all Orthodox Christianity began to console itself and live quietly and serenely. The successful war with Sweden did not disturb this general mood. But the most disturbing rumors began to circulate in Moscow. After Tsar Ivan, the youngest son Dimitri remained, to whom, according to the old custom of the Moscow sovereigns, his father gave a small inheritance, the city of Uglich with the district. At the very beginning of Fedor's reign, to prevent court intrigues and unrest, this prince with his maternal relatives Nagimi was removed from Moscow. It was said in Moscow that this seven-year-old Demetrius, the son of the fifth married wife of Tsar Ivan (not counting the unmarried), therefore, a prince of dubious legality from a canonical point of view,
Damn, he can still do the intro to Madalaine . Looks and sounds great!
Vocals are killer.
That REB!
Reb beach is one of the all time greats of 80s shred guitarist! 🤘😏
Not better than v Vincent. These guys were regarded as a joke in the 80s no one would admit they liked them
@@brianwalters4160 I hope your joking about Reb not being better than Vincent.
@@mikemooney1757 not joking at all.
@@brianwalters4160 I guess we will just have to disagree then.
Love u keep you for be the background of many of my crazy life,in my way to school smoking weed with the boys,in my head while surfing
This came up in my suggested videos and I said, Jack Hughes posted this! I know that guy, how awesome!
winger rock band is a phenomenon, in the history of rock n roll, keep rockin man , fo real!!!!!
Rock on guys!🎸🇺🇸
Wow, man they sound great.
Reb wearing Spandex bell bottoms and bursting the buttons on his shirt but he can still play lol lmfao still sound great tho
Winger is still a powerful force always a fan God bless you all always
4:57 "headed for a button-break"
They always got made fun of........but yet nobody could ever cover their songs! Amazing Band! Rod is one of my drum hero’s
Well at that, Reb is still using a chord instead of a wireless.
more pure when your the best of the best
やっぱロッドのドラムは凄い!
PISSED!! I MISSED THIS!!! DOWN THE ROAD FROM MY HOUSE!!!! PISSED!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!
Reb Beast on guitar.... My number one pick of the 80s shredders.... And Morgenstein is a very under rated drummer.... His work with The Dixie Dregs .. especially Cruise Control was phenom!!!
Rod is one of the most respected drummers out there. Do your research before making such ridiculous comments.
@@jumpinjojo .... Really dude??? And Morganstein gets more air time than lets say the likes of ... Paice, Peart, Aldrich, Bonham, Portnoy, Phillips, Gadd, Donati .. etc...??????
Omg, the 46 part. You gotte love em!
awesome band
🥀🖤🥀PERFECT PERFORMANCES OH YEAH BABY IT'S THAT GOOD🥀🖤🥀🤘🎸
Un privadito...que chevere.
,p.s I don't mean to be a wise ass . It's well earned and he has gotten better obviously. Peace
❤❤️
Kip was the best looking guy in rock n roll. Still looking good at 60. Wish we didn’t age though. I’m right there with him.
Esse guitar toca muito!!!!! Crendeuspaiii
Is this the original band? Rob Morgenstein is still one of the best on drums. I mean listen to this guy, ya how hard this to do?
All ORIGINAL members: KIP Winger , Reb Beach, Jon Roth, Paul Taylor and Rod Morgenstein on drums !
My brother paul taylor keyboards. Where is this at.
He is outstanding!
Trend Wave Actually John Roth isn’t an original member.
John Roth and Reb's guitars sound great together! Shout out to John Roth! Memphis musicians forever!!
No small thing to have a line up of Marshall’s like that behind the Band yet still be able to hear what you’re singing and playing with perfect tonal accuracy and synchronicity. (I prefer to be behind the amps). These guys are awesome.
HFAH best song ever)
🥀🖤🥀AMAZING PERFORMANCE🥀🖤🥀🤘
4:12 solo. Those movements are ART! :)
Fuck yes!!!!
Opened for Kiss, MSG way back then..... Great Show!!!
I mean...back in the day it wasn't cool to like these guys but Reb Beach? Awesome. Another guy that wasn't popular but his SOLOS were amazing was Vito Bratta.
Awesome!!!
Kip please bring Reb and the band down under sometime soon.... pleeeeeeeeease?!?!?!?!?!
I remember some guy trying to push a tape of this band into my hands 30 years ago and I couldn't listen to in then. This is enough to let me know I chose well. None of these tunes have a groove, just guitar players making noise. Bassist and drummer are not in sync. Sounds like 70s Paul Stanley singing. I like punk more every second.
21:36 - "She's only 46!"
Unusual to see THREE guitar players.
Iron Maiden for the past 20 years, Leather Wolf, their whole career, it's not that rare. Glad to always see Paul Taylor back on stage with the guys and John Roth fills that rhythmic hole where when live back in the day Paul would be playing Keyboards, Reb soloing and you only had the Kip's Bass and Rod's Drums filling out the rhythm section, now there's that extra guitar to fill the gap to sustain the heaviness.
Com O Paul é top👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
P.S. They still sound amazing!
Can't hear the drums anywhere like it needs to be !
В отличной форме, ребятки!))
Kip sounds great and Reb one of the best shredders doesn't get enough credit.
Winger is the best!
the bit about a 14 year old enjoying this music in ur description like holy shit is it really that mindblowing to you? most of my friends group enjoy winger have done for years, people use the internet now yeah, they can discover their own tastes from any era its not that uncommon
Danomite sure it’s mind blowing to a 50+ year old dude.
remember this internet instant access to everything has only been here for 15 years or so.
plus this type of music lost all popularity after 1993. the fact that anyone is going to a winger show at all
would have been surprising until recently.
also remember that your are the first generation that has a mountain of really good rock music to choose from.
if you grew up in the 80s, there were no well recorded awesome metal or rock bands from 20 years ago.
yeah zeppelin and aerosmith but there was so much exciting stuff happening now (van halen etc)
that there was not as much to gain from digging up the old vinyl steve miller records from your dads foot locker.
a 14 year old right now can listen to a masterpiece from the 80s like def leopard hysteria, remastered and sounding awesome on demand.
so yes this is unprecedented in many ways.
maybe thats just your narrow perspective but as someones who was 10 when the millenium came, ive seen it happen 15 years might seem short to you i get that . but information doesnt travel as slowly as it did before the internets popularity , people dont only get into music from their older siblings, parents or people at school or even the popular radio/tv channels anymore, people are almost always on the internet, and whether they choose to or not they end up exposed to tastes and styles and eras they may not have seeked initially, peoples have much broader minds when it comes to this stuff now. and then theres the fact that those who really want to seek other things will do so instead of just following the herd. its actually more common than you might thing for a young person to enjoy older bands this much . and there are older people who like newer bands too
my narrow perspective? did you read what i said?
i'm explaining to you why someone's mind would be blown, because you seemed to be surprised by that.
your response doesn't follow from mine. the points you made only supported mine.
work on your reading comprehension.
Winger, LA Guns, and Jack Russells Great White still sound great!!!
I wonder if he still doesnt care that shes only 17
The end of the best era in music! I can't tell if that's Satchel or a hawt chick in front row?
