I’ve been saying this for a while Paul. We aren’t getting structure decks in the tcg anymore. Any ocg structure decks are getting chopped up into side sets with bad pull rates. Konami just hates its western player base, and is only in it for the money. Why else wouldn’t we be getting the same stuff that ocg does?
They stopped/limited the production of structure decks or tactical decks in TCG because they were not bringing any profit to Konami fast enough, the player only needed the staples/ needed cards reprinted there. If you want to collect decks, you better buy OCG Asian English edition since the cards have more diversity in rarity. Still, the risk is you cannot play it to locals / ranked in your local store due to the regional business of Konami decided. IMHO
I think structure decks are limited to once a year around the holiday season. In my experience with card games on the business end. Structure decks are a loss leader, sure they can help the game and everything but Konami takes a hit on every sale. they lose what about 20% selling at $10 each, the loss is $5. That's to break even Konami probably considered upping the price to $20 but that is too high of a price hike. So the less often they do it the more they can save. Unless they release a bunch of structures at once that are all different. I also think that we might miss blue eyes starter for a while due to the amount of reprints set for the deck and those we wouldn't get. Unless they want to release Maxx c and stuff in December. It is an option since the ban list says a few months and it's about that time.
The lack of structure decks is something that concerns me as a budget player. Structures are a great way to give older decks affordable support and help get new players in the game.
Budget players are also the elites.. I was able to grab the Structures of the GodCards, and let me tell you, it was totally worth it . Too bad we don't have cool structure decks out for Ultimate Blue Eyes or New Dark Magicians. I think it would be interesting to see what decks people like playing, and try releasing those sets instead of GACHA-pull-if-you-will practice. There's just not enough money to go around and try to get these dumb cards.
Remember, this is Konami we're talking about. First they screwed gamers over and now Yugioh fans. It's only getting worse and worse. Even my nephews stopped buying Yugioh because they said it isn't fun anymore because they even noticed how Konami doesn't care anymore. That shows the state of Yugioh
I'm kind of hoping Warriors Triumph gets a reprint, and possibly even retrains of those cards in the future, freed the matchless general retrain, field commander Rahz retrain, and marauding Captain retrain.
Structure decks are the highest value product konami makes for Yugioh. Of course you can't get more. Funny how this holds true even though they gimp the TCG structure decks by removing high value reprints compared to the OCG.
@@alonsoarana5307 the reason for this is because people actually play card games in japan, so they have to make the game good or japanese people will just play magic or digimon or cardfight or one piece, but card games aren’t as popular in america and konami knows this, so they just milk the tcg for whatever they can get while the ocg gets all the good stuff.
It would be cool seeing a Pegasus and Joey Structure deck simular to the Yugi and Seto Kaiba Structure deck from 2016. Pegasus would get new Toons and Joey could get some new good Red-eyes cards.
I still have mine from the original but it really is like 40% the same cards as the other decks with sprinkled flavorings. It would be awesome to get a new toon with some relinquished.
Me, a Yu-Gi-Oh! boomer who's very first starter deck was Joey and the very first Legendary Collection was Joey's world, and wanting to build a a Red-Eyes Flameswordsman deck: OH MY GOD! YES! PLEASE! SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!
Without structure decks i would not return to yugioh. I love structure decks and what they’ve done for us honestly, especially super budget $30 deck profile hunter guys like me
I’ve been a fan of Yu-Gi-Oh on and off for years and this year I’ve recently returned to the game. If they don’t release the Blue Eyes deck like for like as it is in the OCG, but they instead divide the cards into booster sets I’ll abandon the game.
The gulf between how the TCG and OCG is treated is borderline criminal. Unify the games and treat all your players equally. I don't understand how this has gone on so long and people just accept it. I think after the latest set, budget-but-competitive through casuals will quit the game entirely (locking a game-warping staple behind a $150 secret price wall is sadistic). I fit into the former category and don't really see how continuing paper play is feasible anymore. Worst part is people will still buy and feed the beast. Won't name names but there are even yugitubers licking the boot and demeaning the community for bringing these obvious issues up. It ain't gonna change either, it's all blackpills
The hard truth is that Konami doesn't care about the TCG and only sees it as a cash cow market. Their focus is on nurturing the the OCG for the long term while extracting as much from the TCG as they can.
I really believe konami tcg wants to destroy this game. The number of decisions they have made that are completely irrational is insane to me. Tins: promos are gone, set is beyond blated, too many reprints make no sense. Structures: no new announcements despite 4 being dropped in the ocg, mermail got put into a set instead of getting a structure the way fire kings did. Side sets: short prints all day, fewer full fool sets, questionable changes to the ratios Ban list: questionable limits, not enough bans, same format as before, with barely any new blood introduced. It is beyond me how konami is profiting these days.
i know it sort of a meme at this point but YGO is genuinely dead in long term. konami is cutting the edge with each product because they barely make any profit from them. they are trying to milk the franchise to its last drop before abondoning the ship you can see how they got MUCH more predatory these last couple years.
I actually talked about this with my friends the other day. I can speculate that Konami is putting Structure Deck cards in booster sets whether in the side sets or main sets. Which is no surprise at all considering that it’s about the money with Konami. And I love Structure Decks since it’s easy access to cards, it’s cheap (feel free to disagree), and they’re premade; just add in certain staples to function.
@@SakuraAvalon maybe I didn’t elaborate clearly. What I really meant to say was OCG structure decks being imported into TCG as part of booster sets whether it’d be main or side sets is becoming a trend for Konami in order to make profit.
@@saviorofs0ng They did this with the original Light and Darkness SD, the Dragunity Remake deck, the Pendulum Magician deck and the Hope(Utopia) Structure deck. They also edited the Caius Monarch deck into a random Chaos deck, so we wouldn't have common printings of the Monarch's.
I feel like Konami is just coasting and cashing out on Yugioh TCG. Too many weird things happening back to back. I doubt it will happen, but I wouldn't be surprised if they just stop doing the TCG.
Kinda agree, but why kill the cash cow? Whales live for the game and buy sets in large amounts. I left the money pit that is TCGs in general. Just my few cents.
@@paleasaghost-5799They won't kill it until the cash cow stops cashing. They don't care about the TCG at all except for the money it generates. Allowing producers to get away with poorer and poorer card quality, release and business practices that prioritize profit like rarity bumps, flooding the sets with more and more secrets, short printing, etc. They are going to keep pushing it as far as players will tolerate. The OCG isn't perfect, but it feels like Konami actually cares about nourishing that market long term, like they actually care about the health of the format, new player experience, etc. TCG is just the cash cow that subsidizes the OCG.
They probably won't import it and will insert the new cards into other product. Like, notice they also haven't announced the Light Duelist Pack (Duelist of Brilliance) and they already announce Crossover Breakers. It's a sign that they probably won't import it as it is to TCG. My guess is, they gonna milk them on some kind of 'Kaiba Exclusive' Booster or set, like "Duelist Pack Kaiba 2", or "Legendary Collection: Kaiba's World 2" which include the new Blue-Eyes and the new AtoZ Union cards together as well as reprints of unnecessary old cards to dilute the card pool.
@@popepootis What can I say? I'm glad they prove me wrong though. Having the new cards easily accessible is always great news. And yeah, lack of trust is to be expected considering what they did to some powerful Structure Deck (Pendulum Evolution and Overlay Universe). Glad they didn't do it this time.
Could be they want to shrink the game. Our sets aren't very conducive for casuals and new players. The best cards get secret rare or higher printings, so they always cost an arm and a leg while relevant. The competitive scene is nothing but complaints. The last good set was Rarity Collection, but then they released a ban list that makes everyone weary with these products going forward. As well, it seems the TCG especially has a problem with the latest card designs and power of the archetypes shifting to be so much faster. TL;DR The TCG is probably super low effort for them rn.
i agree that it seems they're shrinking the game. there aren't many ways to obtain cards. either it's a booster box, loose packs or singles; at least for main sets. you look at pokemon and with like every new set, they release tins, special edition boxes that come with all this merch and elite trainer boxes. Konami used to offer 3-pack boxes with a promo and deluxe edition boxes, but they canned them. probably because they didnt sell well but IMO they half-assed it and they could've improved them but didn't want to. then there's the recent tins where took away useful promos, inflated the card pool and "reprint" cards at the same rarity they debuted in.
They do. They keep telling us this through business decisions and constantly printing cards meta chasers need in the highest rarities and then shortprint those too. They're definitely looking to kill the game by 2030 or at minimum sell it to Bandai or some shit
Wouldn't be shocked if they don't want to give out these to the TCG anymore, and would rather you have to pull the new cards out of the side sets/main sets.
Don't know about elsewhere, but that's definitely not true in Walmart here. YGO is the only thing that sells at full price (which, by the way, is usually marked up about 70%) and is also ironically the smallest section of the card thing here. They only restock it once a week, and Pokémon, One Piece, Digimon, Dragon Ball Z, Sports Cards? They all sit there forever unless they go on sale. Only once have I seen them sell YGO for less than MSRP and it was because they seemingly dug up a bunch of stuff that was like 5 to 10 years old and put it out. We're talking things like Gold Series 4, JOTL DE, the Legendary Collection (normal and gameboard) and Yugi's World appearing on shelves randomly in mid-2019. They were marking everything down 50% so that was 15 to 25% off of MSRP, essentially and they've never done it again. Even when JOTL DE later reappeared again in, like, 2022. Or even during the post holidays when all of the other stuff gets at least a 40% mark down every year to try and get rid of it finally.
I'm gonna be so upset if they shove the blue eyes structure deck into some other set. From what I saw in an opening of the jp version it comes with a booster pack that has rarity bumped versions of some of the cards in that. I'd love something like that in the tcg so I can get some shiny cardboard
Well, this video and this comment aged like milk so fast. The TCG is getting the new Blue-Eyes structure deck the OCG got, Blue-Eyes White Destiny, and not only that, but it also comes with four of the best hand trap staples in the game; Ash Blossom, Nibiru, Imperm, and Effect Veiler. This is quite literally the best structure we could have gotten this format.
I will legitimately get back into paper Yugioh if they bring over the Tactical Try Decks. So what I'm saying is, I'm glad they're fumbling this hard. It's saving me a lot of money.
I told you they stopped bringing structure decks to the tcg!!! Been saying this for a while now! We won’t get a Blue Eyes structure deck, as that’s getting broken up and put into a side set with horrible pull rates. If ya don’t like what Konami is doing with structure decks, like me, then stop buying product. And shout your frustration on their social media. Vomiting horses optional.
The problem with Structure Decks is that they are a rational investment for people who just want to play the game. I doubt Konami ever liked that. I mean, knowing beforehand what exactly you're going to get, how much you're going to pay for it, and then having fun with it, seems antithetical to a business model that's predicated on the consumer making irrational decisions (e.g. gambling). If a company can afford to drop a loss leader because they have no real competition in the market, as is the case with Yugioh in the west, then they will drop it, especially if they have spent decades conditoning their consumers into accepting the inferior product.
Incorrect. It's one thing to discuss it with like minded people, like through videos like this, but you should not do anything with them on social media. For starters, most of the people on their social media are working for third-party companies. It's less true for smaller companies, like 200 employees or less, but for a big one, they generally have no contact with people who actually work there outside receiving emails with ad copy. And even then, the person actually posting probably received that from someone else in their own company, not the rights holder directly. Most social media accounts you see are run by a handful of companies whose employees do not have any contact with the one paying their boss so they don't care what you say. All you end up doing in that case is giving free advertising for someone who doesn't like your tone or who has taken the brand into their identity and feel like you criticizing it is criticizing them personally. What you should do is email the company themselves and tell them your issues. Especially if you do have such an issue with it that you don't want to give them your money at all. They desperately want your money because they're a company. If every single person who had an issue simply wrote into the company directly, they would get a much better idea of who actually cares and what they care about. Spamming at some glorified ad bot in meat form on Twatter isn't gonna let the company know there is something wrong.
@@RunicSigils Following your logic, sending emails also does not guarantee anything, since the people who work receiving and responding to emails may not have any contact with those responsible for commercial decisions and product design inside Konami. The only way of actually doing something is not buying products anymore, the low numbers/profits will send a clear message.
@@HumanBeing4-mr4pc they obviously will, but maybe not in a structure deck but in booster packs, as was the case with the Dragunity Structure Deck R (SR11) whose contents were instead included in the booster set Ghosts from the Past (GFTP). You could argue that Blue-Eyes is way more popular than Dragunity, so they might release the structure deck in the tcg to attract the Yugiboomers and the anime fans, but knowing Konami, they'd probably remove some of the staples in the process.
The Tactical Try decks in the OCG are probably what gives them pause with making new structure decks. Just because they'll always be compared to the immense value these decks have for the average player. Abundant staples like ash, talents and thrust, Imperm and the like, packed in with several well known/recognizable archetypes like Live Twins or Cyber Dragon that would probably appeal to new and returning players. Again, the value these TT decks give for a really good price in the OCG, are the type of product the TCG would never give us, instead opting to ignore the issues and continue printing the next over-priced secret rare.
Ocg got 4 this year, we haven't even gotten 1. They are breaking up the Blue-Eyes deck Update 10/3: So, it was just announced. However, my point still stands. A whole year without a structure deck.
While those are very cool products, and we should definitely get those and more, I don't really count them as the same thing as a Structure Deck in the way that we know them. New cards are a core driving aspect of what makes Structures special, unless they release like a Fiendsmith Snake-Eye Azamina Tactical Try Deck, a reprint of less than rogue decks could not hope to compete at possibly even a sub-locals level.
All I know.. is I want that Blue Eyes Deck and I’m certainly snatching 3 copies (Of every new card, since these replies require me update this comment to specify)!
@@jojomations2596 Still a product that sell, is usable and gets people into the game. Yu-gi-oh only got the structure decks. See the disparity when they aren't being made?
Im loving these more editorial type videos, this and the Video games video. Really examining where yugioh has gone as a brand in the past 20 years and not just as a card game
@@eebbaa5560 SAD, top five YugiTubers could fix this game. How about Goat structure decks, How about MR6 first 2 turns only get 5 special summons & 2 card search's, How about New 2v2 tag team Format for Worlds... Management sucks a$$ fr.
@@eebbaa5560 this is so obviously squeezing, like i have seen exact this happening in old online games happening. They get last drop of money then they pull ygo from tcg, they made it clear that the moment we get ocg printing policy they just stop rather then do som good. Moreover the last good value structure worth buying was the Branded onenearly 2 years ago. time flies.
They are out of touch. A perfect example of this is when they made the Utopia, Dragunity, and Pendulum structure decks into booster sets instead of releasing them into the TCG. Konami doesn't give a damn about its players. They didn't care about how badly players in western countries wanted those structure decks. They only care about maximizing their profits the best way possible. It's hard enough as it is to build a deck in this game. But Konami had to go and make it harder just so they could earn a few more bucks. They're greedy corporate scumbags that don't understand what its players want or even care. Konami doesn't even want to give us basic things like communication about the banlist. The only time they say anything about it is when they feel like it.
I used to be a Tcg player in canada and recently I've moved to south korea and currently been living here with the Ocg format for around a year. Unlike Japan, we still get our cards really late like the Tcg and we do miss out on some cool sets that only Japan gets, but the card prices have been so affordable that I've been enjoying the format even with maxx c. I couldn't imagine buidling more than 3 decks back in Canada with all the staples that I need and I literally got 3 decks that I want with all the staples within like 2 days. Making affordable products definitely made my life so much happier.
The reason why structure decks are no longer good is because, if they were, you would be GUARANTEED to get good cards, without gacha/randomness involved.
I'm really hoping that Warriors Triumph Structure Deck gets a reprint so this way I can create the best warrior deck ever made. And I'm also hoping Warriors from this structure get a successor deck in the future retrains of Gilford the legend, Freed the Matchless General, Field Commander Rhaz, and Merauding Captain and other new cards to support the retrains of these cards in possible new structure decks. I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on three copies of the blue eyes structure decks when they come out in the west hopefully possibly next year.
You will get a reprint of Saga for the 6th year, like it or not. We already know what the products are for the next several months, well into the new year. It is not one of them. While most months have two releases of some kind, December does not because of the holidays. Crossover Breakers is the sole December release.
As someone trying to get into the paper after enjoying masterduel the lack of structures of archetypes I mesh with is a genuine barrier to making that commitment.
The trap tricks structure is what got me back into the game. It was so cool to have such a strong deck so easily. Also, I always thought it’d be cool if they released structures for one or all of the archetypes in each set, like shortly after release. That way you can easily build a deck around an archetype without having to open 2-4 boxes worth of packs. They could still have cards exclusive to the packs to incentivize buying them while putting commons or supers in the structure for easy accessibility. Idk if it would really work in practice, but it would get me to buy more packs if I knew I could potentially use almost every card I got. Even if they aren’t the top performers
I miss when Structure Decks came out in sets. Growing up I would always get one and my brother would get the other and they'd usually be pretty balanced against each other.
"Why isn't Company X making new products?" Oh, what could possibly be the reason why a for-profit business would stop making new product? "Why are there so few new sports car and cars with manual transmissions now?" Oh, what could possibly be the reason...
This convo came up at our locals today lol Structure decks are such a good way to make good products and help newer players. Having products with garunteed cards in them is super useful. Even better when you release them in sets, so players can have fun with a sort of "Choose Your Side" style thing, like if they were to release a Fire and Water structure deck at the same time.
They could potentially be waiting until we get closer too the holidays before announcing/releasing the blue eyes structure. I remember getting the saga of the blue eyes structure deck for Christmas around when it came out and it was probably my favorite gift that year
A MⱯLIVE Structure Deck would *SELL!!!* Also, I think that they had a question about Structure Decks in that one TCG survey from Konami a couple months ago so they probably are thinking about them.
Interestingly, I recently watched a video featuring an ex-Konami employee who worked on TCG exclusives. He mentioned that just before 2019, they centralized the card design department into a smaller team for TCG. This shift has led to issues with power creep on release, with the Vendread archetype serving as an example. The archetype didn’t succeed-this reflects how Konami values their archetypes-because its development was out of sync with the game’s current state. Additionally, the TCG card design team had a low or nearly nonexistent amount of playtesting time before launch. While the deck works in a vacuum, it doesn’t perform well compared to other options while trying to maintain a balanced philosophy and 'fun' design. Now, Konami relies on OCG release performance to gauge how new products will perform before deciding on rarity bumps for TCG upon release. The TCG and OCG card design teams work separately, and this approach has slowed down TCG exclusives, as the small team focuses more on individual cards rather than developing new structure products or archetypes. Essentially, the game has shifted its focus to the OCG market, while TCG operates more like a soulless enterprise. This trend helps explain the lack of structure decks in TCG for 2024.
I remember going to target after I first got into yugioh and purchasing a saga of blue eyes white dragon structure deck because my parents only got me one codebreaker deck so my brother didnt have any cards to play 😂
As soon as i saw that blue eyes structure deck, i said to myself "damn, that sucks, that product will never see the light of day here" same with the tactical decks.
the structure decks you said "didnt count" are the ones that my friends getting into were most excited about lol! i think they are focusing on bringing new people in this year vs before they were catering to older players
Kill the first problem: stop making it a necessity to buy 3 copies of a structure deck to get all the cards you need. Do what everyone else does and sell a single box for $20 at most with everything you need
Structure decks have always had a special place for me, I got into Yugioh TCG through the bonus cards that came with the Zexal DVDs, and the XYZ Symphony deck, and then I moved onto the Realm of Light deck and have been mostly with the game since. It sucks that we aren't seeing new structure decks come out because they are an amazing gateway into the game! Especially with drafting not being as viable in the newer sets to my understanding. You can just pick one up and get into it. I still pick up triples of any structure deck I find that I dont have just for collection purposes, as well as just having fun deck building with them!
I really hope this blue eye structure deck doesn't have any of its support thrown into a side booster set to try and help that set sell. They did it with the Gemini and dragunity cards. Hopefully they won't with blue eyes
Structure decks for archetypes that are a few years old and have very few, or no, reprints of their cards would be great. It's hard enough to figure out how to build a deck when you can't even reliably get all the cards for it. PUNK and Exosister for instance, bulk of them are in Grand Creators, an out of print set, and most are Super Rare or above so even buying a box you're going to end up missing cards or stuck on single copies of cards you need two or three of. As someone who was out of the game from 2014 to 2023, it has been a huge hurdle to track down older cards or discover archetypes that released while I was out of the loop. Having some of those decks get reprints in structure decks would be a huge life saver. I imagine a lot of new and returning players would appreciate being able to pick up structures of archetypes that just aren't feasible to come across any other way (can't rely on stores to have singles of cards you need after all).
The crazy thing about those blue eyes structure decks is that, somewhere, right now, there are still people playing this game where MST negates and Swords or Revealing light is the strongest card in their deck. Seriously, look up the 400 view youtube channels that have oddball IRL duels on them like Airsoft Fatty. Konami knows this, and keeps selling them because of this. Newer stuff that we know is good goes into products often because they know the target audience knows they NEED the cards to play the deck and the strategies that come with them. So they force products to get sold by hiding key cards in product. Really scummy on both sides. One side is blissfully unaware how the real game is, while the other is constantly getting screwed while waiting 6 months for their support cards.
I was really hoping that we'd get a Western printing of the tactical try decks, I know we won't but they seem like a great pickup if I could read the cards
I really wish they'd bring back the polls just as a hint hint that if the archetypes don't get a structure, they can be considered for support in later sets. The main problem with it was you had people trolling going for the worst archetypes like the Spirit charmers structure which just led to overstocked shelves, people expected too much from Konami to make these archetypes good or meta when in reality they just made cards in the general theme of the deck regardless if it worked like ice barriers, and people also compared the polls to the current meta as if the winner would be shipped to every store nationwide when in reality we wouldn't see it for 6 months.
I think Konami of America genuine is not sure how they can water down the tactical try decks in order to have them available to both keep the new players in, but also still have them lacking enough in order to still create need to buy singles and sets. Hell, the easiest thing for them to do would to honestly be to release the Asian English Blue Eyes and Dark Magician decks stateside under the 25th anniversary flag and call it a day.
Konami figured that the game has already priced out any new players, and they'd earn more money selling the structures in sets where every card worth pulling is a shortprinted secret.
They need to bring a handful of those Tactical Try decks, like, 4 at once. That way folks can pick up 1 of them and a buddy picks up another, and BAM. Instant playing.
I feel that they didnt give us the Tactical Tri-Decks because of how different the TCG is to Master Duel. There was no way to make a 1 to 1 conversion like with the OCG that is much closer to the MD format, it could also be a product they wanted to test in the OCG first before bringing out over here, if it didnt preform as intended they might just skip it. I'm more worried about the Blue-Eyes deck. I really hope the TCG doesnt mess this one up for some excuse to make a "supplemental" set. Afterall the new Blue-Eyes deck is technically a reloaded version of the old one they just reprinted... again... We need new Structure Decks to keep the game growing I think. Structures not only give new Players a decent entry point but also allow returning and existing players to quickly build a new deck to play around with. But with how Konami seems to squeeze Yu-gi-oh fans like a damp rag that clearly will never be dry enough. I worry TCG is gonna do something stupid, which is very common for TCG.
TCG did not import Tactical Try Decks from the OCG simply because TCG and OCG are serving different markets, not to mention that Tactical Try Decks are a different line of product from Structure Decks, and that might've caused issues in importing or they just want to see if it performs well on OCG side. But then again, people here prefer their narrative or conspiratorial delusions about Konami "wanting to kill the game" rather than boring facts. If TCG thinks that Tactical Try Decks are going to sell like hotcakes, then they would spare no time to import those.
A new Pegasus structure deck with all the toons released since 2003 would be great. Or a Red-Eyes/starter deck Joey reloaded. Aside from a structure deck, we need a good big box bundle Luke Pokémon and Magic. Msrp for $40-55 you get 8packs, some foil promos and tokens, maybe some acrylic spell counters, if it's closer to the $55 price point it could come with a starter deck and a rubber playmat and specific promos themed around that deck.
I saw the Fire King starter deck on clearance at places here in the UK. I wonder if the broader product decisions are made by execs disconnected from the day to day of the game, and they’re only seeing the sales figures? I even bought the Cyber Dragon Tactical Try back from Japan, just because I play them in the TCG, and wanted an OCG deck too.
The OCG hasn't gotten any structure decks the TCG hasn't. What we haven't gotten are Tactical Try Decks, which is a separate product line. I think we will get the Blue-Eyes deck, mostly because they love Blue-Eyes. It's why Saga of Blue-Eyes got a reprint in 2020 that you can still find at big box stores.
The retrained versions of the 5Ds era of Dragunity and Gearfied SDs, the Utopia SD, Pendulum Evolution SD, the Three Tactical Try-out Decks and so far the BE Structure Deck. So at least 5 products if you dismiss the Tactical Try-Out decks, 4 if you think we get the BE SD.
@@RNGHater I think we might get the BE deck but not Duelists of Brilliance or vice versa. That gives plenty of main set imports without leaving the calendar completely dry. The absence of structure decks and the appeal of BEWD in the market make it my preferred delivery mechanism for hopefully bringing some players back who left within the year. QC is such a weird thing to fumble.
Ironic that at the same time WOTC is popping out 4 new commander decks every couple of months and several dual deck starter sets for standard It's gotten me, a filthy casual, really into commander and really not paying any attention to yugioh
I would always look forward to new structure decks and be hype to get 3. They’re missing out on long time people not needing the reprint ones and wanting new ones.
_I will literally take anything at this point. Gimme dat Malicevorous Structure Deck already, Konami!_
IMHO
To be fair turning malicevorous to spright 2.0 is pretty terrifying
Zexal is pretty bad, Disappointing on ur life Choice Roland.
The lack of structure decks is something that concerns me as a budget player.
Structures are a great way to give older decks affordable support and help get new players in the game.
Also a good structure deck can be a good foundation for anyone who wanted to start building a new archetype deck.
Funny how this holds true even though they gimp the TCG structure decks by removing high value reprints compared to the OCG.
good product = killed by konami
By the TCG, the OCG actually wants a healthy player base albeit introducing more powercreep

@dan4845it is a deck!!!
Side sets: short prints all day, fewer full fool sets, questionable changes to the ratios
Ban list: questionable limits, not enough bans, same format as before, with barely any new blood introduced.
It is beyond me how konami is profiting these days.
The ocg printed the Merlantean support in ROTA because of the callback to Abyss Rising
i know it sort of a meme at this point but YGO is genuinely dead in long term. konami is cutting the edge with each product because they barely make any profit from them. they are trying to milk the franchise to its last drop before abondoning the ship you can see how they got MUCH more predatory these last couple years.
It would honestly be a horrible business decision for Konami to actively try to destroy the game. Yugioh is a huge money maker.
@@Shrimp4Gura fair point.

They've done this before.
@@SakuraAvalon are you alluding to how they scattered the Dragunity OCG deck in GFTP
@@SakuraAvalon maybe I didn’t elaborate clearly. What I really meant to say was OCG structure decks being imported into TCG as part of booster sets whether it’d be main or side sets is becoming a trend for Konami in order to make profit.
They did this on the past. They put Pendulum Magicians in a set instead of being released as structure deck like they did in OCG.
@@paleasaghost-5799 they can make more money selling them digitally
Don’t forget the best cards being high rarity short prints. That will be the scummy cherry on the rotten cake.
Happy to report this comment aged poorly as of today!! Still goes to show that lack of trust is at all time high for Konami for good reason
@@popepootis happy to see your comment. Very glad to see its releasing in the TCG.
TL;DR
The TCG is probably super low effort for them rn.
i agree that it seems they're shrinking the game. there aren't many ways to obtain cards. either it's a booster box, loose packs or singles; at least for main sets. you look at pokemon and with like every new set, they release tins, special edition boxes that come with all this merch and elite trainer boxes.
I’m convinced Konami hates the tcg 😂
They do. They keep telling us this through business decisions and constantly printing cards meta chasers need in the highest rarities and then shortprint those too. They're definitely looking to kill the game by 2030 or at minimum sell it to Bandai or some shit
They don't hate us we are their cash cow they are milking us
Wouldn't be shocked if they don't want to give out these to the TCG anymore, and would rather you have to pull the new cards out of the side sets/main sets.
What happened, very simple…KOMONEY
If we don't get the new blue eyes card as a structure deck, I'll riot.
The TCG literally gathers dust on store shelves these days lmao.

Do you mean that new blue eyes support cards will not be in the TCG?

Structure decks are such a good way to make good products and help newer players. Having products with garunteed cards in them is super useful.

You're not the only one who noticed.
@@tdracos007 everyone agree that statement

Kill the first problem: stop making it a necessity to buy 3 copies of a structure deck to get all the cards you need. Do what everyone else does and sell a single box for $20 at most with everything you need
That just makes it worse for casuals who only buy 1 copy
When they announced the new Blue-Eyes structure for the TCG my immediate thought was "why did Konami skip a year on structure decks?"
The D/D structure took a while. We’re in a structure drought with less product variety that could benefit from BEWD’s seal of approval.
Konami probably sees them sitting on shelves but it’s because they just over print them

WHERE ARE MY STRUCTURE DECKS??? I play only casually with friends, and we only use structures.
My favorite Structure Deck is The Crimson King. Love those Red Dragon Archfiends.
Last time I got a structure deck was the fire king deck from a secret Santa at work last Christmas 😂😂
It's really strange as far as Konami's strategy is for the community. It's almost as if it gets a sizeable cut from the secondary market
I figured they were focusing on the 25th anniversary, so there was no room for them in the schedule
Jack atlas vs revolver structure deck duel
The metas gotten so crazy that Konami can't make any decks to keep up with it.
Pendulum Evolution.
The utopia structure deck turned into brother of legends
@@runningoncylinders3829 Good news, we got the SD. Bad news: in Feb 2025.
Konami please
Japan doesn't have this problem because of how competitive the trading card game scene is over there
The Dark Magician decknis most likely going to have an easy way to summon master of chaos probably
on the yugioh new releases website it shows that the new Blue Eyes structure deck is gonna come out in February next year
I will never too this day understand why saga of the blue eyes is always on the god damn shelf
Ironic that at the same time WOTC is popping out 4 new commander decks every couple of months and several dual deck starter sets for standard
It's gotten me, a filthy casual, really into commander and really not paying any attention to yugioh
I would always look forward to new structure decks and be hype to get 3. They’re missing out on long time people not needing the reprint ones and wanting new ones.
