Love the HKS wastegate's .I'm running 1 on the big turbo Saab, They have a nice 1.1 bar spring as standard. I'm no youtuber but checkout my pics clipped into a vid showing some of the build and the manifold/wastegate fitment (had to clear the waterpump for turbo)
Just watched it! That’s a seriously tight fit with that manifold you made! Love the wastegate position too, some old big power Japanese manifolds had it like that and it was always my fave. Was some mental twin big turbo RB26 engine I remember the most, and had two of that style gate coming out at the same angle from each manifold. Love it
The idle situation looks like the injector dead times may be off and then the STFT overshots corrections. After restart could be, that it runs like shit until wideband heats up and starts doing corrections.
It’s after the wideband. Dead times are as per the manufacturer. Doesn’t mean they’re right though lol. Big injectors at idle are never easy but it’s enough to get it to the tuner to let him deal with it
Yeah, more heat means more likely for more unburnt fuel to light up, and any flames to stay hot and flamey and get closer to the tailpipe. The noise thing surprised me when I first realised after doing it to my RX7 years ago. Depending on your exhaust it generally makes it sound quieter in many ways as it stops noise coming through the pipes, and makes it louder at the tailpipe as that’s the only escape route for it lol
@@StavTechyeh i guess that would make sense, Would it be worth wrapping the whole length of the exhaust or just downpipe? And also ive heard things of exhausts cracking with wrap due to the heat. Have you ever had that problem?
@ for a noise difference it would need to be the lot. I got that idea first after seeing an endurance racing Mk4 Supra back in, I dunno, late 90s or early 00s and it was wrapped all way to the tailpipe. Never personally had any cracking issues due to heat, no
@ for wrap? DEI is the best I’ve found. Pretty much every other seems identical to the generic stuff you’d get off eBay for a quarter of the price. Honestly most the time I use the eBay stuff, but the DEI stuff was defo noticeably longer lasting. Just more money. Don’t fall for shit like Funk Motorsport, that’s just rebranded Chinese crap
Go back through the videos and see why this all started. The k20 kits are over priced and shit. The engine is good and make big power but price to do a k20 not worth it
No. I can go way way faster for the money with a 1.8T than any K swap can. Don’t believe the hype, believe the proven performance. Fastest two proven ones of these cars in the UK is mine and Joes Volvo one. Despite there being plenty of K swapped ones out there. Can make insane power from a K, but you also spending insane money to do it reliably on pump fuel, despite what social media thinks
Back packer or back packer murderer? The second will suggest spending ten million pounds on a Life Racing setup. In reality it probably needs 10 min with someone who’s not a computer retard.
Thanks to you Steve and Thomas your informative vids I made a purchase on a mr2! 😅 Ill be getting it in a week or so 127k body, 70k engine for 4k800$
Cool! Enjoy!

Any idea on make and brand of this waste gate and we’re I can get one 😎
It’s a copy of the old HKS ones I think. These used to be on eBay back in the day but don’t see them now, but AliExpress still has them
@ cheers mate , I sent you a message on Insta if that’s ok

Is that true that the vr5 sounds like a mini lambo?
You can hear it at the end of the video.
But at high rpm they can with the right manifold
Turn the fuel pressure up a little bit
Heat wrap makes more flames? Been contemplating wrapping my downpipe for a while
Didn’t realise it changes the noise too
Loving these swaps👌

Any specific brand you would recommend?

Bro do a k20 honda they make big power swap next round

Lol people need something different not all gay kswap hah
Ask the back packer for some tuning advice?

@@StavTech He disguises himself as a back packer in order to carry out his heinous crimes.
