The Best antivirus is Mawarebytes, for being good light and objective, a very high ninel of general protection and a low price compared to the competition.
I use AVG, but I turn it off on occasion to do some tweaking once in a while. Sometimes I forget to turn it back on. You'd think that AVG would remind me on occasion to turn it back on, but NOOOO... instead, AVG would rather load endless ads as usual to upgrade without any mention that I turned the protection off a day ago.
What I disliked about both antiviruses is that, THEY CAN BE CRACKED. And it's hard to trust an ANTIVIRUS that can be reverse engineered. It COMPLETELY DEFEATS THE PURPOSE.
Hi, the Avast antivirus free just offers antivirus protection, albeit basic. The Avast One plan also has a free version, this is more of a bundle. With this plan there's a limited VPN, alongside the antivirus protection.
Just un-installed AVG free after many year of use. AVG bug report, started uploading my data 10 to 20 GB a day 👎 (totals via bitmeter). I noted video play back, on tube slowed down and after a check via task manager, under processes (network traffic) it had been maxing out my upload. This amount of GB upload to them, is not what I want to see from AVG so called Antivirus protection "Blocks malware & spyware"
AVG; please stop trying to scare me into a purchase; *I left Norton for that very reason.* Seems no matter what Norton sold me and installed, it just wouldn't keep me safe, so they kept trying to: speed up, clean up, fix up, save and protect me, from everything except aliens and meteors falling from the sky-though I suspect they were next on the list. *So far* I like the AVG I have, but understand-I will move to another provider if I'm not able to discern my own choices. Avast had terrible ransomware support in PC Security channel's test - even defender did better. Those sites test known malware signatures only, the tests are weak.

I take using AVG from around 2009 and never had any issue, so keep using it today.

you can turn it off for a certain amount of time
AVG is the best anti-virus. It was able to detect all of the viruses (malwares) that I installed in my PC

Avast Free version is annoying with ads for its premium version. AVG much less.

If you want my opinion, other free AV providers which have not been caught yet are more suspicious than these two now.
