In this film myself and Billy spend time in the forest with the Pathfinder DD Superlight mesh tent and conduct an initial review of this lightweight bug defence tent. we will be using this throughout the summer midge season and am confident it will work well for us. Good night in the forest under the canopy using a DD 3 x 3 tarp as well.

Very nice Rick, I got the lifeSystems self standing Mosquite net. Going out on Friday, with Tarp and net, bloody mosquitos eat me alive lol
Haha yeh the midges are out in force today. This crazy weather doesn't help either 🙂.
Can't beat tarp camping n the net still allows us to do that when it's bug season so have a top night fella. Will be mint 👍🔥👍🙂

I like this setup.. one thing I find useful is if the bugs are not about you can simply drop the pole and sit o the mesh and spread out whist cooking etc then pop it back up before bed. Really enjoyable video.
Yeh cheers, it's definitely one of my favourite set ups n it's getting to that time of year again soon. I wasvout just under the tarp this weekend but the mesh tent will be out with me soon 🙂

Wow! Now that was a film mate, the camera angles were bloody mint Rick, loved it pal.
Now on to the tent, loved that too, I’ve just bought some seem sealer for the F2 tent getting it ready for the trip but I might just get one of these instead mate, it looked smart.

Definitely a good bit of kit. Was looking at some similar stuff on Aliexpress but this turned up and I think its bang on.

Very good, I liked this video and I loved the toggles and Prussik to tension the Tarp on the apex over the ridgeline. Great stuff. I have a couple of these type of mesh tents to try out at some stage, one is the top of an Army Cot and the other is some commercial one I picked up along the way albeit, I think it might be orange in colour, can't win them all. 😉👍 BTW, that 2k I predicted is due soon and then 5k and then 10k. You didn't believe me did you - I know a winner when I see one.

Yeh these bug nets come in very handy at the moment dont they and the midges are gonna be around a while yet ain't they.

Made the mistake of bivvi camping in't lakes last summer, fair to say I didn't sleep a wink! Worth it for the sunrise though 👌🏻 might get one of these tents in case I'm in that situation again at some point. Nowt worse than midges.
Yeh they are a nightmare ain't they. You'll not forget that night though eh, good experience and an amazing sunrise
Definitely worth having amongst the kit especially if you love the bivi and tarp 🙂👍

By a country mile my favourite summer set up a brilliant dd mesh tent Rick was thinking of doing something similar with my inner of my tent this time of year all the best marra stay safe and Billy 👍🏕

What an excellent review - just what I was looking for. Cannot seem to find a long term review - did you ever do one? Keen to know how you've found this after a few months of use. I'm about to start tarp camping and reckon the big benefit is feeling wholly in the open, just as you mention. Very keen to know how this mesh tent as worked out for you and to know details of the floor material. It's quite heavy vs other options so I am imagining it is a reasonable robust material?
Not done one yet but it's still going strong. Used it plenty this summer and it's coped well with me n the dog n all my kit 🙂👍
It's a little bit heavy and looks too short to sit and eat in but I do like the look of it, some variations in entry positions in other models would be nice too though. Like if you want to use this in a tipi entry would be difficult. But yeah, this one has my attention for sure.
Aye its good under the tarp. Its pretty long but I've never tried it in a teepee.

Yeh same here 👍. Let me know your thoughts on it if you get one. Would make it easier for pitching on open ground as opposed to trying to configure a tarp with poles n paddles etc etc 👍.

Hiya JT , aye it's a great piece of kit, I've used it loads this summer 👍. That's an old Seiko divers watch. It's been on my wrist for for over 30 yrs and coped with everything I've thrown at it. Amazing bit of kit .

Lots of bugs/wolf spiders, heavy rain at times, but rarely ever gets real cold. And that old Seiko! She's a gem! I hear you can't go far wrong with a Seiko. Thanks again Rick. All the best,

Got a cheap pyramid tent off ebay for $50 which had one of these mesh tents inside it as the inner layer. So this thing is worth about $25. Maybe less.

hi rick love the channel so what was your overall opinion on durability and functionality after going to scotland etc would you buy or do you think there are better options out there .i like the look and DD have a good name so might give one a go .always enjoy the videos keep em coming cheers
Cheers Paul. It's good ya know. I've not had any issues with durability so far n I'll be using it again plenty this summer. Even had a badger try n run through it until it bounced off my head on one trip to Wales 😆.

What configuration can you use with this? Or a simple A frame & plow point setup? Just asking in case of no trees
Yeh those are the ones I've tended to use with this set up. I've used a Plough point with canoe paddles n poles and also walking poles. A lot easier with trees for this set up or enough paddles/ poles to replace the trees but a Plough point can be done 👍
Could you fit in two people in there?? Some times tents are bigger than they seem
Yeh definitely. I've only ever been in it with my dog Billy but I reckon you'd be reyt 👍
