  • Mohamed Abduba Dida, who gained national attention in Kenya during the 2013 and 2017 presidential elections, is currently serving a seven-year prison sentence in the United States for crimes related to stalking and transmitting threats. The former teacher and political aspirant, who once captured the public's imagination with his unorthodox campaign style, now finds himself in a very different kind of spotlight, far from the political arena in Kenya.
Dida was sentenced on November 18, 2022, after being found guilty of two separate charges in McLean County, Illinois. The first charge, stalking and transmitting threats, resulted in a two-year sentence, while the second charge, aggravated stalking and violation of a restraining order, led to a seven-year sentence. The exact circumstances leading to his arrest remain unclear, and it is not known whether Dida had relocated to the U.S. or was there on a temporary visit when these offenses occurred.
The court proceedings revealed that Dida had violated a restraining order against an unidentified victim and was convicted of multiple offenses. He is currently serving his sentence at the Big Muddy River Correctional Center in Illinois and is expected to be released on April 3, 2029.

How can you be profiled when you violated a restraining order? If it was a traffic offence or shoplifting we can believe but stalking no his messages on the phone sold him out

This is unfair justice. If this man had convicted offense, his trail should be held in Kenya 🇰🇪 where he belongs, but not in a foreign country where may be he was in a temporary visit.

What I know is that anyone can find himself/herself in jail. If you have opportunity & power, improve the prison because you never know who's next.
