Fun episode….going online to search out your oils collection….similar issue potentially. Yeah G’town, every day a “lost” dinghy……in a storm…a Dark and Stormy “storm”. Thanks, Andrew

Good teamwork! The south Pacific is amazing and I would love to sail here someday. The headsets will be a must when we cast off someday. I did not have those during the ASA courses and when it was windy it was hard to hear from the helm and vice versa. Do you think after this long you'd benefit from a mast-mounted forward-facing camera? How about forward facing sonar? There is all kinds of tech out there. Golf range-finder was not on my list, but will be now.

Thank you!! The headsets are great. Wow! Wish we used them earlier. Tech has really beefed up in the past 3 years for sure. I don’t think we would get a mast camera just because Brown wouldn’t use it and I think it’s primary use is marinas and we are never in them. Or try not to be. Ha ha. When we are He prefers me to tell him distance Forward sonar would be interesting. I don’t know if it works. We find our regular radar is pretty amazing for seeing things in front of us, but there’s always the whale that it wouldn’t pick up! Plus we only use radar at night now. With SL we use our phone apps for day radar and storms. Anyway, lots of good things to think about but the more tech you get the more that can go wrong and break! Ha! We try and keep it simple!!

You won’t regret the golf range instrument. We use it all the time!! It takes the guessing out of everything and provides data points to support or refute whatever concerns we have. I just wish it worked at night! Ha!

It looks fairly shallow from the video. Do you need 200’ because if the chain floats or for good holding ?

    • @SailingBlownAway

The 7 anchorage was 40’ deep so we put out 200’. The SE anchorage was 8’ but with the maramu we put out 100’.

If only a tenth of the cruisers going thru FP were as conscientious in anchoring as you...

Oh thank you. We really do try. I can’t say we are always successful but we are getting better at not hurting coral!! Thankfully I do see a lot of cruisers making the effort! Thanks for your encouragement!!
