For my first year, I had a great time. I really enjoyed the 80s aesthetic throughout, especially in the Lagoon show and the Anarchade area (the latter piqued my interest immediately for the neon and retro video game feel for it.) I really enjoyed the Stranger Things, Universal Monsters, and Graveyard Games houses this year, and I look forward to going back for future years.
I thought it sucked to be honest. It wasn’t scary, the runway was kind of pointless, it was literally a photo op zone, and not one character was creepy in the slightest. It’s one of the weakest zones I’ve experienced. Hellbilly Deluxe was the best.
I rely on your channel to remind us of different attractions we used to enjoy that are long gone... sadly lol but thanks to you we can watch and reminisce
Hellbilly Deluxe was easily my favorite scarezone. The whole atmosphere was highly energetic and made the area feel like a big party. My only complaint is, like you proposed, I would have set it in a larger area to expand it and help mitigate the crowds.
I'm hearing similar thoughts on Vanity Ball and I want to state I agree. It wasn't very scary. It was the one zone I walked through night one and just was not scared, but GAWD I loved it. It was such a unique idea that both fit the 80s theme being based off of the NYC drag balls of the 80s and 70s, but with a disturbing campy twist. I don't think I've heard of a haunt doing that. Not to mention, it was so relevant in that way since that drag ball culture is very much a centerpiece of culture today and as an LGBTQ+ individual, it made my heart soar to see this culture shown on such a display not to mention having a central figure introduce the zone by way of "Ladies, Gentlemen, Gender Non-Conforming..." I think it will be my favorite zone for a long long while. I wish we could look at zones more like this but they are "scare zones", but still I think there's much to be said for Vanity for those of us who did connect with it so deeply like myself.
I may be biased but Vanity Ball was my favorite scare zone. Being a scare actor who was put in most of the scare zones, Vanity Ball was my favorite! Till next year HHN! 😏
Personally, I agree that the scare zones were kind of lackluster and were not scary. However, I absolutely loved sitting in the Vanity Ball section. As a person who has always been super fascinated by the gay ball scene from New York, it was awesome to see it mashed together with the “living sculptures” concept that reminds me of Bioshock. The male announcer especially captured the essence of the idea of a ball, with the different hauses competing with a touch of camp, a touch of horror, and lots of shade. The interactions I had with the scare actors were awesome, even if they weren’t super scary.
I live in N.J. and don’t have the funds (or the time) to go to Florida, so these videos are sort of a surrogate for me to experience them. You are truly doing an amazing job and I hope that you will continue this.
Watching this late but I went a few weeks ago and it was my first year It was so amazing the two scare zones of rob zombie and the chainsaw was the best 😂
Gosh, there are so many good horror-classics, new and old, that they haven't even considered yet! What about 'Gremlins', or 'The Ring'? And hey, they already have 'The Shining' , so why not a 'Dr. Sleep' -house next year?
Still a blast to have gotten to say hi, regardless of how hot it was outside! c: The lagoon show this year is gonna' be so hard to top for a while -- they genuinely knocked it out of the park. Not going to be easy to improve from such a high mark in that regard. Let's hope scare zones get a little love next year, and you already know how I feel about this year's houses. That's going to be a great part II.
This was my 12th year at HHN. Started with HHN 16, and have gone every year since, only missing 26 and 27. No way I'm missing next year, the 30th anniversary! Really enjoyed the 80's theme of the last couple of years! 16 and 17 are still my all time favorite events (followed by 25), and the reasons why I'll continue to go back every year. Have watched all your videos on Halloween Horror Nights. I LOVE learning all the history of the years before I went, and reminiscing all the years I was there. Thank you!
HOLY SYNTHS those songs are good. You are always excellent at picking out songs for the videos (despite most of them being the soundtracks for what you are covering). Keep it up!
HHN 29 was my very first HHN & it was awesome. I only had 1 day to experience it but that's why I bought the Express Pass. The Lagoon show was incredible & my favorite scare zone was Vanity Ball & Rob Zombie. I bought several souvenirs like a hoodie, US shirt, lanyards and cups. But the thing I bought the most was the KILLER KLOWN CARMEL CORN & COTTON CANDY. I'll just go ahead & tell you my favorite 2 houses. My favorite based on a property was US & my overall favorite was YETI. THE THING I LOVED MOST THOUGH WAS THE MUSIC THAT PLAYED ALL NIGHT LONG & THROUGHOUT THE PARK. IT REALLY HAD THAT 80'S VIBE & SINCE 80'S HORROR FILMS ARE MY ULTIMATE FAVORITE, I JUST LOVED IT. HONESTLY IT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE & THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS DOCUMENTARY WHICH WILL BE SOMETHING I WILL ALWAYS WATCH WHEN I THINK ABOUT MY FIRST HHN.
I was absolutely blown away by marathon of mayhem. It was so much fun each time. I’m not a fan of AoV so I didn’t even see the show this year on purpose. The scare zones and houses were so much fun this year. I’d like to do a lights on tour next year.
I rewatch these videos every year before HHN, and i was literally thinking "did i miss that?? I have no recollection of a viking scarezone." right before the line "not a memorable scarezone"
Great video and I can't wait until part 2 to see what you thought about the houses! I live out of state and this year was my 2nd in a row of being able to attend multiple nights. It's a dream come true and a tradition that I will definitely continue! The only bad part is missing it afterwards. I loved Marathon of Mayhem! I made sure to see it twice while there and there's a RUclips video that I've watched about 50 times. Sometimes just to listen to the music!
The two shows were great, both academy of villians and marathon of mayhem..... favourite scare zones were Hellbilly Deluxe and Vikings Undead.... Enjoyed everything really but these definitely stood out, not a bad start for your first HHN 😊
I finally got to go for the first time down her in La and got to finish all of the lower lot but I sadly had to leave early because my sister was getting tired and I decided to take her back home to sleep :(
I agree with everything in this video! I’d love to see 5 shows though, a lagoon show, an icon show, Bill & Ted, AoVs, and maybe like a magic or illusion show that takes place in horror make up or just a more gory version of horror make up. Also I’d love to see the scare zones increased to 8 I think the area around transformers and where killer Klownz was last year would make a great scare zone. Also put the chainsaws and mechanics at the front entrance of Fast and furious and lastly have some death eaters outside of Diagon alley and perhaps give them some affects that their wands can set off, kind of like the interactive wands in the lands except only the scare actors can use them and they’re a little more disturbing than normal. But yeah...I DESPERATELY want more shows & more scare zones that are actually scary!
I wouldn’t mind seeing a Scooby doo house or a Jaws house. But I doubt JK Rowling would ever approve a HHN house, even though it would be AMAZING! But she doesn’t even let the Death Eaters go I to HHN.
I really enjoyed the Rob Zombie scare zone it was just really fun to walk through and it felt just like a music video and I ended up really enjoying Vanity Ball as it reminded me of various Twilight Zone Episodes
While I enjoyed the marathon of mayhem water show, I feel like I never get a good water projection show at Universal. Every time I've seen one of them it's always windy and it messes up the projection screens. Music still rocked tho.
I went like close to 20 nights. And totally agree the shiws were a big step up this year. But the scare zones are a big step down from last year. From what i herd the houses ate up most of the budget this year. And you can tell. A lot if great houses this year.
so the only thing i didnt like about this year was the US house and the vanity scare zone... I absolutely love marathon of mayhem... also what are you using for a lens for these videos, i bought a new low light lens for when i was there but it wasnt doing as good these videos
I know this video is 2 years old but I have to point out at 6:30 the scare actors mask I think is just a Hallow Ichigo Mask from bleach with led thrown on to it.
I wasn't a big fan of the scare zones this year. Vanity Ball was ok and seemed like something different. The food though was great. The grilled corn on the cob was super good. The merchandise really great and spent way more than previous year's. Great video recap.
The arcade and Zombieland Scarezones were definitely lackluster and not good. The original houses were a big step up from recent years and it was nice to have a lagoon show again. Ghostbusters was one of the best houses they’ve done.
Its hard to put a zone where Anarchade stood due to the area being very small. That area has been a photogenic zone for a few years now and seems to be the best zone since it started happening
Also; how about these? 'The Omen' (old or new) 'Rosemary's Baby' (a nice compliment to 'The Exorcist') or even 'Willy's Wonderland'?! It already has a considerable fanbase! =D What about games? They already gave 'Resident Evil' a house... Like; 'BIOSHOCK' finally!! and 'American Magee's Alice' or what about classic tv-shows, like 'The X-Files'? They HAVE aliens...
The houses were pretty good but scare zones was ok and felt it was watered down little to me instead of Zombieland in the new york area it should Raccoon City from Resident Evil
Having just done Halloween Horror Nights, I for one would never bother visiting again. The lines were atrocious and I've visited local haunts that are just as inspired for a quarter of the price. The fact they had the stones to charge 150$ for a "fastpass"is laughable. Never again.
Did not see the shows, really not my thing, but agree the zones lacked any zing. I am so glad you had a great time!
Same!!!!! This was my first year and I absolutely loved it
I feel like next year's event should be called HHN XXX as that would sort of give it a sort of edge (if they can get away with it)
Featuring Vin Diesel
A Fully adult themed year...I'd be down for that
I liked Vanity Ball. Sure, it wasn’t too scary, but the campiness made it a fun experience. Can’t wait to hear your tales on the houses!
I thought it sucked to be honest. It wasn’t scary, the runway was kind of pointless, it was literally a photo op zone, and not one character was creepy in the slightest. It’s one of the weakest zones I’ve experienced. Hellbilly Deluxe was the best.

I am glad you enjoy! Thanks for watching
I’ve gone 7 times this year (it’s still 2019) and the events music still reminds me of how much I miss it when it’s over ;-;
the music is so good this year
@@ExpeditionThemePark And there are fanmade complete track listings
I was so happy to attend for the first time this year! Ghostbusters and Killer Clowns were my favorite!
I am glad you had an amazing time!
Slimer got me at the end lol
Hellbilly Deluxe was easily my favorite scarezone. The whole atmosphere was highly energetic and made the area feel like a big party. My only complaint is, like you proposed, I would have set it in a larger area to expand it and help mitigate the crowds.
God. This event is just so well done. Have loved every time I've been, and so jealous every time I'm not there.
I love the 80s theme and Ghostbusters
Anarchade was also pretty interesting and a little fun. And so was Zombieland
I'm hearing similar thoughts on Vanity Ball and I want to state I agree. It wasn't very scary. It was the one zone I walked through night one and just was not scared, but GAWD I loved it. Ooof I’m really gonna miss this year more than normal. So much about it, Marathon, the music, aesthetic and so many memorable moments in the houses
That lagoon show looks so awesome. I hope they do bring back something like Bill & Ted. They really should have more than two shows.
Exactly
They released bill and ted face the music so i think its a great option to returned just for once the bill and ted show
Bless you for never missing a chance to burn fast and the furious.
I may be biased but Vanity Ball was my favorite scare zone. Being a scare actor who was put in most of the scare zones, Vanity Ball was my favorite! Till next year HHN! 😏

Thank you so much! Hope you get to visit some time
I have to second this. I live in MA and haven't been able to experience the event. These videos help.
Watching this late but I went a few weeks ago and it was my first year
It was so amazing the two scare zones of rob zombie and the chainsaw was the best 😂

I still have the “fear to the max” shirt!

One of your best HHN video yet!!!!
I hope one year they do something like scary tales, but about Shakespeare. It might be called shaken-up-tales
HOLY SYNTHS those songs are good. You are always excellent at picking out songs for the videos (despite most of them being the soundtracks for what you are covering). Keep it up!

NO DONT DO THAT TO ME DONT END ON A CLIFFHANGER
I rewatch these videos every year before HHN, and i was literally thinking "did i miss that?? I have no recollection of a viking scarezone." right before the line "not a memorable scarezone"
The arcade cabinets should’ve been Polybius.
BALL GUY!
Stop commenting and driving

Happy late Halloween, Expedition! These spooky events are the perfect way to celebrate Halloween and mark the end of it.🎃👻
Thank you! Happy late Halloween to you too!
Anarchade was my favorite scarezone it was just surreal
The two shows were great, both academy of villians and marathon of mayhem..... favourite scare zones were Hellbilly Deluxe and Vikings Undead.... Enjoyed everything really but these definitely stood out, not a bad start for your first HHN 😊
Killer Klowns was so good this year!
A fun one!
the neon chain saws looked pretty cooll and both robs zone looked cool and the game over section looks great
I finally got to go for the first time down her in La and got to finish all of the lower lot but I sadly had to leave early because my sister was getting tired and I decided to take her back home to sleep :(
When you were there. Did. The chainsaw guy in Springfield saying chainsaw noise, engine reving and vroom got you.
Can’t go wrong with pizza fries. And I like Stranger Things
Good choice
The Fast and the Furious clip gets me every time!
I agree with everything in this video! I wouldn’t mind seeing a Scooby doo house or a Jaws house. But I doubt JK Rowling would ever approve a HHN house, even though it would be AMAZING!
But she doesn’t even let the Death Eaters go I to HHN.
@5:32 They're doing the Bill and Ted pose!! I can't believe I never caught that!
Its killing me guys. What's the song used when the Expedition theme park logo switches?!?
Nightlife by Street Cleaner :)
What’s the Background music for this
I loved this year. Just wish it wasn’t over so soon. Can’t wait for 2020. Def need to do something “Hindsight being 2020” as a theme.
Like if one of the wack jobs commie/progressives becomes President? *shudder*
Why did the music during the monologue in the begin sound so familiar
Manson
I went for the first time this year and had a great time
Love your stuff, love your passion, even me being a rip tour guide, you know more then me sad lol
I really enjoyed the Rob Zombie scare zone it was just really fun to walk through and it felt just like a music video and I ended up really enjoying Vanity Ball as it reminded me of various Twilight Zone Episodes

You too! :)

Ummmm Zombieland was a late replacement? The cut to the Ghostbusters patch implies that we might have had a Ghostbusters ScareZone too...?
Pretty sure GB was set for NY, but they couldn't get what they wanted under budget
so the only thing i didnt like about this year was the US house and the vanity scare zone... I absolutely love marathon of mayhem... also what are you using for a lens for these videos, i bought a new low light lens for when i was there but it wasnt doing as good these videos
Anybody else binge watching all the HHN history videos to somehow make up for the canceled HHN 30 this year?
Just me...?
ok
I know this video is 2 years old but I have to point out at 6:30 the scare actors mask I think is just a Hallow Ichigo Mask from bleach with led thrown on to it.
I love this video immediately as I heard the AOV show
It just got confirmed that HHN 30 will go from September 10th-October 31st! I’m hoping they go big for next year.
Breh did you like move to the USA just to go to this event? Seems like it.
Kinda ha
Finally been waiting for this
Hope you like it
I wasn't a big fan of the scare zones this year. Vanity Ball was ok and seemed like something different. The food though was great. The grilled corn on the cob was super good. The merchandise really great and spent way more than previous year's. Great video recap.
Here's hoping the terror queen will return and become the icon she deserves to be!
I love your vids!
Thank you!
I died hearing billy idol rebel yell 😊😊😊
Can you do King daka or stealth
I need to know what that synth song is that plays in the intro.
11:43 *REWIND*
hellbilly deluxe basing a zone on an album from 20 years before this event that no one remembers
was my first year and hopefully not my last 😌
hope you had a great time!
Can u do hollywood's halloween horror nights next¿¿¿
Where did you find the area music?
The arcade and Zombieland Scarezones were definitely lackluster and not good. The original houses were a big step up from recent years and it was nice to have a lagoon show again. Ghostbusters was one of the best houses they’ve done.
Its hard to put a zone where Anarchade stood due to the area being very small. That area has been a photogenic zone for a few years now and seems to be the best zone since it started happening
@@garywinthrope1259 There have been many other good zones in that area over the years. Anarchade was just a boring concept that was poorly executed.
@@TBHJR You'd hate to see what was there the last 2 years, way worse than anarchade
@@garywinthrope1259 Oh, I''ve seen them, being a HHN regular. I wouldn't say they were worse. That's just my opinion.
@@TBHJR That was fair, you just can't really expect much out of that street anymore after the direction they started to take with it
I was hoping you would talk more about the houses 😔
I'm pleased to say I went to that
Did you put Max in the title as a pun? Like the stranger things character
Also; how about these?
'The Omen' (old or new)
'Rosemary's Baby' (a nice compliment to 'The Exorcist')
or even 'Willy's Wonderland'?! It already has a considerable fanbase! =D
What about games? They already gave 'Resident Evil' a house...
Like; 'BIOSHOCK' finally!!
and 'American Magee's Alice'
or what about classic tv-shows, like 'The X-Files'? They HAVE aliens...
I’m curious, sir...are you UK-based and just visit for extended times, or do you live in the US?
A Bill and Ted poll has been circling around?!
Question Why this year is 80s theme?
I assume it’s because of Stranger Things since it takes place in the 1980s
The houses were pretty good but scare zones was ok and felt it was watered down little to me instead of Zombieland in the new york area it should Raccoon City from Resident Evil
Can jou do more efteling video's
Klowns was the only house I didn’t like this year.
Having just done Halloween Horror Nights, I for one would never bother visiting again. The lines were atrocious and I've visited local haunts that are just as inspired for a quarter of the price. The fact they had the stones to charge 150$ for a "fastpass"is laughable. Never again.
First and also love your videos
Second and thank you!

Hello.
Hello
Did not see the shows, really not my thing, but agree the zones lacked any zing. Often think HHN has become a huge conga line designed to drain your wallet and conveince people new to the event it's amazing, but truly its edge is not there. The sets are beautiful but the actors now depend on recorded voices, which to me takes away from their involvement. Have went many times since 1994 and each year it drops another degree.
Merchandise was great but waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overpriced
Careful with using copyrighted music. It would really suck if your vids were wrongly striked for copyright infringement for using the music.
It can’t be 1991 if Halloweentown horror night is in its 29th year so that means it’s started in 1990 but then changed its name to Halloween horror night in 1991
It sucks hollow scream is way better
