Check out: Al Green How Can You Mend A Broken Heart (Live on Soul!, 1972) . It’s phenomenal!
Studio version ..1971
My favourite Al Green 🎵
Takes me back to my love, GJ when we split up in 78.💔💔
@@poppiethestable1090 nah live is better bro
@@dances998 Inmho....He does nothing with it live...It goes nowhere..Without Willie Mitchell
Another great soul singer. Al Green had a lot of great songs in the 70's including "Take Me To The River", "Tired Of Being Alone", "I'm Still In Love With You", "Love & Happiness", "Let's Stay Together" etc. He also became a pastor after facing a tragedy in his life (girlfriend's suicide) & performed gospel music for a time.
You forgot to mention the grits that were thrown on HIM!?
This song was released in 1972! Fifty years ago and it is still powerful today.
This was moms song, she passed when I was 13,I know now it was a break up song now, but my mom new she was dieing Soo she would dance with me , I never appreciated it till I was in my 20 s, now 52 I listen to this and it still tears me up,,,,,for life ..thankyou both!!!
I am glad you have this wonderful memory of your Mom and this beautiful song. Your mom knew it was special to you too. God bless you.❤🙏
My heart goes out to u.
I have listened to this song for 10,000 years and I STILL CANNOT get through it without getting choked up and holding back tears.
First album I owned
I'm so happy you young people are learning about the music i grew up with.
This is one of the greatest breakup songs ever! Al said let's get it in one more time, then don't look back!
That guy have one of the sexiest voice and get right to you heart, love him so much
Please do more Al Green! His voice melts me. 🇨🇦🥰🔥🥇
Al Green's music there's no other like him his voice is so spiritual ....so if I have a bad day I put AL Green on....His music is my go too.
You are so right
Australia 💕 Christina
I love seeing other people have an appreciation for all genres of music. Y'all are great couple. Love ur show .
Same here
When the song ends. You don’t want it to, you can just listen to it all night. His voice was sensational.
Mighty AL GREEN
My absolute favorite Al Green song. A masterful performance by this legend.
I can’t help but to think about my late mother when I hear Al Greene. She loved him and played those albums all the time. “How Can You Mend A Broken Heart” was my favorite. Al is a true legend and R&B icon. His music is used in so many movies til this day.
‘How Can You Mend a Broken Heart’ was my favorite song.I was 8 years old turning 9 in a few months. I spent the Summer in Baltimore at my aunt’s house and all I did was listen to the radio and play records. This song was on repeat along with Aretha Franklin’s ‘Daydreaming’
This is an Al Green song that no one reacts to.One of Al's best."Simply Beautiful" is another good one.One of the best voices ever.Pure soul.So flavorful.Like a cup of hot chocolate on a cold frosty night.
You guys are on it.Thanks.
This song was written by Kris Kristofferson and Ray Price took it to the top of the charts in 1970.
Kris Kristofferson? OMG! That's awesome.
I’ve heard of Al Green but never listened to him before. Wow! Beautiful voice, beautiful song. I’m definitely going to be checking out more of his music 🎶
AL Green never disappoints.
@@bowittman 💯 FACT & I ❤ HIS 🎶🎶 👏👏
@Jill Wanlin..Al Green and Luther van Dross can sing the phone book, and make it sound great!😂
Another great soul singer from the 70's. He had so many hits!!!❤❤❤
Grew up on the Ray Price version and never heard this but it is stunning!
Welcome to the club bro!
Check out Tired of being alone and Let’s stay together by Al Green.
Al Green is another one with what seems like a million songs and all of them are great. My Mom used to cry every time she heard this song by Al Green. He was her favorite singer.
When Al Green sings his songs they have a way of walking you through whatever pain you are going through...and then you feel a whole lot better after you listen to them.
The Reverend takes you to church. When my girlfriends and me were getting ready to go clubbing (took hours) we always played Al's greatest hits album, Isaac Hayes and Percy Sledge. We were soul sisters and we were ready to go out and dance the night away (underage at the beginning). We didn't go to meet guys, or get drunk; we went to DANCE and boy did we.
Al will always hit that sweet spot guys, cannot be avoided.
Oh this was in the mid 70s when we were 15 but looked 18 hah!
Greatest soulful song ever!!
Saw him in concert like 10 years ago and he still had it. Just as good as ever. Handed roses out to the ladies in the front row.
My girlfriend and I went to a concert in 74/75 hoping to get in front row to get a rose. I think we were in 3rd or 4th row . No rose but excellent concert!
LOOOOVE Al Green! Gotta check more of him. Let’s Stay Together is a great next stop.
Please take the time to listen to Ray Price sing this song. He does a gorgeous country version. I really really love this version too.
Who the hell is Ray price is he related to Louis Price who was lead for the Temps in the late 1970 ‘s . The only version I heard was by USA singer / crooner Perry Como that was a hit in the U.K. in early 1970 ‘s .
Ray Price was a very influential country artist. Please look him up
Other than Al, I had only heard it sung by Kris Kristopherson (who actually wrote it. Through research inspired by your comment, I see that Bill Nash recorded it first and Perry Como recorded it also, in addition to Ray Price. Most songs have a lot of history and a back story.
@@sereneamani1713 I know who Kris Kristopherson & Perry Como are ,they were known internationally . The two other geezers Bill Nash & Ray price can’t be up to much ,as I never heard of these two & I have been around the block a long time ,seen it done it & got the T shirt .
@@kippytx If he was a very influential country artist ,he shouldn’t need looking up ,his fame would have preceded him & we would already of heard of him .
You gotta admit, Al Green can SANG!!!
One of the Greatest. I saw him in concert when I was in college. He threw Red 🌹 to the ladies . React to Love And Happiness. Al Greene will not disappoint.
Check out, " How Can You Mend A Broken Heart" by Al Green also performed by the Bee Gees
Barry and Robin Gibb wrote, How Do Mend a Broken Heart.
Yes Indeed
Beautiful fantastic, What a soulful singer,,,
Al Green is a Preacher here in Memphis. Another Memphis Icon.
I’ve never heard you guys do any gospel but Al Green can take you to church like nobody else. If so inclined, listen to him do Precious Lord & How Great Thou Art. Amazingly good! Anything he sings is awesome!
Memphis reppin! The legendary Rev. Al Green! One of the best to ever step up to the 🎤 mic! I hope he sees this, he would love it!
I had the great pleasure of meeting Al Green back in the 1990s. He is one of my all-time favorites!
Beautiful song and a great artist
I love Al Green! His voice is so amazing he could sing anything and make it sound good! I love this song and all his music!❤❤
This is a cover of a song written by Kris Kristoferson that was originally recorded in 1970 by country singer Ray Price. Al Green's cover was released in 1972
Quite a few covered this. It was written by Kris Kristofferson and he has a version as well. In any case, Al Green's is a cool soulful version. Most of the time it is done in a Country style of music.
AL Green a lot of soul and he knows how to sing it too. That's why all the ladies love him. just cool man.great reaction guys. but yes sad song too.
What u hear in Mr Greens voice is that ole Gospel Soul.. He's a preacher!❤❤❤❤
My dad used to dance with my mom to Al Green in the kitchen, brings back great memories.
Nobody, but nobody like Al Green. Grew up listening to him and trying to wail with him when I was just seven years old!😄
This song will tear you up! The album title goes well with this song.
And I'm sorry, but that feeling never goes away.
"How can you mend a broken heart" by Al Green is a good tune you ought to try next. It's in the movie "Knotting Hill", starring Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts. The whole soundtrack to the movie is quite something. "She" by Elvis Costello is another great tune from the same movie 🎬.
A real love song. You hear his pain in his voice.
You should listen to "Patches".....the Clarence Carter version
Awwww, yeah baby!!! One of My favorites by Mr Green..❤❤❤😂
That pain his voice is called experience he has seen some things in his lifetime magic in the seventies thank God he's still here with us today

Al Green’s “How Do You Mend a Broken Heart” is also sad.
I absolutely love Al Green. I had the pleasure of seeing him in concert...so good!!! Please respond to more of his music :) Thank you! "Let's stay together"
This song was written by actor and country song writer Kris Kristofferson but Al took it to another level.
P.S. Talking about a rabbit hole...Al Green's goes forever!!!!
YES!... For The Good Times ❤️💔
,beautiful song and sad song. The lyrics are so beautiful
I first heard this song when I was a kid sung by Eddie Arnold, the legendary country singer. When I heard Al Green do it, he made it his. It's like a different song. What a great song and Al Green is one of my go to fellas for a good cry.
Al Green was the bomb!! I had one of his 8 track tapes and wore it out in the mid 70’s. Love him.❤️
This song I remember it from the past and it’s still outstanding good and it makes me so sad because when I have ended my relationship whit my girlfriend I have listened to this song again and it makes me crying 😢 so realistic song about love ❤️:)
Al Green's performance of A Change Is Gonna Come is SPECTACULAR!!
Mr Al Green in the 70's was undoubtedly the Prince of Soul... from this very album check out Look What You've Done for Me... again anything he sings is Gold
My jam back in the days, at house parties! Al Green was the man, he had such unusual voice and a great soul singer!
Listen to all his songs they are wonderful ❤️❤️
Still In Love With You my favorite AL Green
Dad used to dance slowly and softly with Mom as an he had tears in his eyes 😂. Every damned 😊 time. They were so amazing together. I think 💬 about them daily. He would be 94 y.o. now and she would be 85. Oh 😳 boy. Amen.

Listen to Dagmar, once again. Al Green is one of my personal favorites. Dripping in swag. Love and Happiness, Call Me, Tired of Being Alone, I'm Still In Love With You and the cover of the Bee Gees song, How Can You Mend A Broken Heart are my favorites. But just check him out, great music. Nice reaction. Peace
