This is one of those tracks that gives me chills, which is getting harder to come by with age. I love the way the vocals overlap in the mix. So fucking good.
every time i hear this song, i find myself saying 'ga ga ga ga ga ga' along with the piano. that same piano would have absolutely owned the song had the vocals not had the complex overlaying echos britt provides. this song is pure genius.
i have no idea whatsoever why i got this cd, but i randomly listened to his pure genius of music and was instantly got that fuzzy feeling when you listen to good music. now on to this entire album on my badass stereo system.
I'd have to disagree to be honest. The way they develop their songs is subtle and understated. I think that's why they're so great. Nothing sounds contrived or unneccessarily complicated. The songs are so good fundamentally that they don't need to be developed in a major way. Sorry if that makes seem a bit self-important, just my opinion! Great band.
The bag of intravenous dextrose with lidocaine, (seen clearly at 2:03) tells you someone is going into surgery..., possibly someone was hurt,... perhaps even died on the surgery table (but the ghost in you lingers?), and the video seems to be putting you in their shoes..., at least that's what i see. If you were here, Would you calm me down? You settled this part, ...Feelings I fight (all the strangers in town), ...Feeling so bright (would know if you were here) The feelings I fight (would you ease my mind?), ...Yeah (Come on!) The sleep fled from my eyes, ...And I, I know that I need some, ...Give a thought to the one that you know Or would you calm me down, ...When the night gets shadowed, ...We fast... We put on the clinic, ...If you were here, ...It felt good to me, ...(would you calm me down) Can't see I'm losing it, ...Must have set up the scene, ...(The man asleep knockup) Put on a clinic, ...(I see it)...But I will need to write, ...(we settled this part) ...They're all alive. Oh, would you ease my mind? (The ghost of you lingers), Put on a clinic till we hit the wall, ..(And leaves), Just like a sailor with his wools beat soft, ...Come on, ...I had a light bad noon that could be put back together My life, ...So light, ...Would you settle this part? If you were here, ...Would you calm me down? The ghost of you lingers, ...And leaves, ...I always think about it Oh, would you calm me down?
Absolutely love the Radiohead vibe this song has with the clashing piano keys as well as a kinda sad depressing feel to it. Definitely a great find to have after first hearing this song on Spotify earlier.
I'm agree with your opinion on this song, but I'm not quite agree with what you're saying about Spoon. They've got great songs - listen to "Kill the Moonlight", for example: "Back to the Life", "The Way We Get By", "Stay Don't Go" are great records and I didn't mention stuff from "Gimme Fiction". These are my favourite albums. I think they move music.
@d28taypres Gotcha. Guess that makes sense. Saw some "wtf do songs mean" page that claimed this is about drug addiction, which I think is a legitimate interpretation (all the stuff about sleep, "you know that I need some," etc.).
Chills every time I listen. Haunting and beautiful. It's one of my favorites.
This is a minimalist masterpiece. Never gets old
i've been playing this song over and over for hours!
It does that to me too!
I have been there

This song was in my dream last night... i guess i've been listening to spoon too much. Awesome song.
I could listen to this song all day! :]]]]

Love this song! Had my iPod on shuffle and ididnt know I had this song thought it was one of my 80's music! Lol :)
this song is so dope
@mortalkonlaw Well, the band members said that the piano sounded like Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga to them, hence the album name
one of the best bands in the world.
fantastic video
One of the coolest and creative bands ever.
So beautiful and soothing. Makes me miss my Booful even more than ever
Great song.
Just recently discovered spoon. Very good band.
this song gives me shivers... but in a good way ^^
Great band, very underrated can't wait to see them in Oct.
the underdog... but this song is really great.. and i got to know spoon since 2 days ^^
One of the depression soundtrack greats from high school
this song is amazing and... addictive
@vanylaskyye My favorite Spoon song. Weirdly wonderful....
This is where the album name Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga comes from. . . Quick fact
@liqwidmud I agree. For me I feel like they captured heartache, memories, and a dreamish, ghost like feeling.
cudowne cudowne i jeszcze raz cuuuuudo
awesome. the vid is cool.
I thought that too, and i wouldn't be surprised if it was intentional, especially with the feedback towards the end.
that song car radio was pretty cool though
Masterpiece.
I think of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind when I hear this song.
if this band would spoon with me i'd be the little spoon :)
very interesting, i'm glad britt isn't crawling on the floor naked.
muy bueno !
Actually, this was out even before the underdog, wasn't even properly released as a single I think, just a promo vid.
amazing video
me 2 but i still luv this song anyway
I think about this song sometimes when I make a smelly fart

listen to the song on tehir website or the album , it is much better. Much different feeling
I was wondering when someone would mention it.
very similar indeed!
Fab
@RossTheHick you can never listen to Spoon too much
Sic vid
Yes you can. And you can call it fantastic. ;-)

listen to "The Ghostface of you Lingers" mix by The Hood Internet. This song sounds so good with a beat
Absolutely love the Radiohead vibe this song has with the clashing piano keys as well as a kinda sad depressing feel to it. Definitely a great find to have after first hearing this song on Spotify earlier.

Also Small Stakes. If you like Ghost, you'll like this one
you forget A series of sneaks!
I thought the video fit the song. Which is one of my favorite from them.
Interesting video, reminds me of evp. Or maybe that's just 'cus of the title. heh
I'm not sure. haha that's what I'm trying to figure out!!! it sounds like it
@d28taypres Gotcha. Guess that makes sense. Saw some "wtf do songs mean" page that claimed this is about drug addiction, which I think is a legitimate interpretation (all the stuff about sleep, "you know that I need some," etc.).
holy shit good you know?
This song sounds like Trent Reznor had a baby with M83 and made a Spoon song
beautiful image of the piano on some liquid
I was about to thank you for agreeing with me and making me feel less crazy, but then I read your username and realized that is was you. lol
this song/video is kind of like dreaming...
If people can call rap 'music' then we can call this a 'song'. I like it too. It's different and beautiful.
Does Alex Turner sing in this with them???
kinda reminds me of radiohead's videotape.
it's like paper tiger... only maybe better...
is this the official music video?
It's a very weak song, but it somehow throws it together, like Spoon always seems to do.
@RossTheHick too much is just enough.
Man, i dig this, but i was waiting for a nice strong drum beat to kick in the whole time...
@Kmartshopper34 Well said. Also, you have quite the username.
@d28taypres ?
lol i think you're looking for "ghost of you"
the only trouble is, they don't know how to develope a song. But really cool ideas.
The ghost of good Spoon no longer lingers :'(
doesnt sound like MCR.
too bad this is a mono recording. the original stereo is so much better.
No.
Great song; horrible video
Cool visuals in my opinion and felt like it matched the mood of the song.
Why is it horrible? Just looks like a bunch of heroin to me. I think it looks pretry cool. Imho.
that's the stupidest thing i've ever heard!
this song is so dope
