Man Tip#1 SPOT ON!!! I have tried OVER and OVER to explain to people. You cook by FEEL with brisket. There is no "magic" internal temp number. And Tip#5 is absolutely the most important tip. BBQ is fun and family!!! Great video for the beginners guys! 👊👊👊
Very nice been watching Hey Grill Hey for awhile now as someone who is THINKING about getting grill/smoker I appreciate these beginners tips ...........peace love and health from the state of GA
"The way it brings people together", is probably the best thing you take from this video! A bbq is best when shared with others. Happy Smoking!! Thank you Hey grill Hey for putting this informative video together. Cheers.
These tips are useful for everybody, from beginner to grill master. But I agree on #5! At the end of the day, it's all about having some fun! Great vid!
My tip would be to not take competition bbq as an example for starting out. Just go out with any simple kettle bbq or something and start grilling and experimenting. Just try to make tasty food and don't care to much about looks. If you and your family love the food you're golden. It's what I've been doing now and my friends and family love what I'm cooking, so just keep it up, have fun! Great vid and you have great recipes as well! Greetings from the Netherlands.
I use too be a KCBS judge and helped on a team as well as a mentor/judge at some backyard competitions (with award-winning Harry Soo). KCBS folks are great and I only got out of it because it was getting so hard to judge as that was a competition itself just to get on the list, and I started coaching my daughter’s basketball team. But I have to say, the backyarders I was involved with were so much more fun. None of the KCBS uppity judges who think they know it all (most were great folks) or the huge teams with giant trailers, 3-4 smokers on them, sponsors and huge budgets so they could afford wagyu brisket (injected with who knows what!). No thanks! KCBS got too big for itself.
Paul Marasco I know they live around Salt Lake City so I assume there. But gee, no masks except for that women at the very end? Yes it was outdoors but she and those teams were certainly not keeping their distance. I’m jealous too, but I’d rather be safe. I recently went to an outdoor farmers market here in California and everyone had a mask and it’s sort of the same thing, outdoor venders with produce, breads, flowers (like “teams”) and the folks walking around buy ing stuff. (I live in Orange County but this was up in the Bay Area)
Slap it and Smoke it🤣

You are the best 👌
I'm so jealous that you were able to have a BBQ Competition! Where was it held?
