I have never in my life worked on a cuckoo clock and I have never thought of how complicated and simplistic all at the same time the cuckoo clock is... Much respect to the men and women who build these marvelous mechanical Masters.
I have a grandfather clock from my grandmother that was made in 1926 and shipped across the sea when my great grandmother bought it. It's absolutely priceless and I've been offered 20k for it from the original maker in Germany. I'll never give it up.

I remember being so amazed by cuckoo clocks that I kept wanting to learn more and more, and I came across this fantastic video and have been in love with it ever since. I recently made a trip to the Black Forest in Germany and bought a cuckoo clock there, rediscovering my passion for cuckoo clocks. I just have one question that I hope could be answered. I really like the background music for this video, and I was wondering if someone could tell me where I could find it.
Hmm, something about the jazzy music, staple guns and high-tech power tools that I found to be off-putting. I guess few things are truly hand-made these days. Still, it was nice seeing artisans work their magic with hammers and chisels.

Maybe leave that trumpet out, though. You have to admit pneumatic staple guns are a disconcerting thing to see in an old world craftsman’s shop, no?
I have an excellent chalet-style Kuckucksuhr from this region. I chose not to have the melody, because there are only two corny tunes available and I don't want to hear them every hour. I wish they made one that plays "Deutschland Über Alles"
I have a Hekas, it's pricey, but I think these should last decades if not mistreated. I admit I prefer the mechnical kind in spite of their many drawbacks, because I bought my clock to have a classic mechnical works with the classic German woodworking. One thing that I noticed, is that the duration of my clock is not as long as I thought they had said when I bought it. But that's not really relevant, as you simply need to wind it daily, and they consider it a daily movement, so it doesn't matter if it's 28 hours or 36 hours, or whatever it is.
Nice video. . . Is there any Black Forest clock maker that makes a fully jeweled cuckoo clock? My small collection of 0-jewel Black Forest clocks is 6 cuckoos and 2 shields.
Does Regula not assemble the mechanism for the cuckoo clock makers? I see their logo there while they were putting the mechanisms together. It's fascinating. I guess I had thought that they just make and assemble the mechanisms and then sent them to the makers to use in their clocks.... ?
Dont buy an 8 day cucko clock which has 3 weights. Why? because the manufacturer are stupid. They make this clock that has to have a 12 foot ceiling for you to wind it once a week. and you have to have a ladder if you are not taller than 5'6" to set the dial. Forget seeing the animation it's to high. Now if you don't mind winding it twice a week then you can put it at any height.

Well , i buy one of those cuckoo watch made in Germany but inside there is an electronic box with two batteries.
You can get clocks that do not use batteries. They are operated by weights that hang from chains. Every few hours, you pull the weights back up.
