Good insight, thanks guys, I'm 12 months in and have been using a 9m drifter, I need a bigger kite though and tossing up between 12m switchblade and drifter
Thanks guys, great set of videos, really helpful to make an informed decision. Having surfed with both kites I fully agree with your comments. I ultimately went for the Drifter, I also had the feeling of a more cheerful kite but both great choices
Good video! I am just deciding between those 2. I am 75kg and already have an 8 SB and I was going to get an 11 in SB when I thought maybe going with Drifter as my intention is to use it on the sea with waves. The thing is I am just starting to kite so was wondering if I need to be more experienced to use the Drifter or if I could directly progress on it going out in my beach. Would love the help to decide! Thanks
Thanks for your feedback on the video comparing the Cabrinha Switchblade and Cabrinha Drifter kites! 🤙🏽 Regarding your question about which kite to choose, the Cabrinha Drifter is a kite designed specifically for wave riding and is known for its ability to drift downwind while maintaining steering control. It's a great choice for riders who want to focus on surfing and riding waves. However, it's also a less forgiving kite than the Cabrinha Switchblade, which is more geared towards all-around performance and ease of use. As a beginner kiteboarder, it's important to have a kite that is stable, predictable, and easy to control. While the Cabrinha Drifter can be used by beginners, it may be more challenging to control in gusty or variable winds, or in situations where you need more power to get up and riding. If your primary focus is wave riding, and you plan to spend most of your time on the water riding waves, the Cabrinha Drifter could be a great choice. However, if you want a kite that can also handle all-around kiteboarding, including jumping and freestyle tricks, the Cabrinha Switchblade may be a better option. Ultimately, the best kite for you will depend on your specific goals, riding style, and skill level. Please give us a call if you're still on the fence. We're always happy to help: (800) 622-4655. Good winds to you, my friend. -Aaron
I'm a freestyle rider and have always used a Switchblade, it really is the most reliable and versatile kite ever. However, I've begun favoring my Drifter more nowadays simply because of playful the kite is and its beautiful performance. I may not jump quite as high or get the same upwind ability, but that Drifter just feels like pure BUTTER. I must say, I only use the drifter in good conditions, if its stormy, sketchy, or whatever I still hop on the glorious Switchblade.

Im looking for a good allround kite, ive just got into foiling and looking between the Switchblade, Drifter and Apollo? I do like jumping in the waves on the twintip but dont use a surfboard in the waves. Which is the better kite to invest in?
Skip_NZ The Drifter will give you the most benefits foiling. I wouldn’t consider the Apollo all around. The Switchblade is awesome but most of the guys here choose the Drifter now as they love foiling as much as everything else. - Rygo
@@MACkiteboarding Rygo, cheers for the reply. Yes everything i have seen sofar has been positive for the drifter and foiling. My friend has one and he said he struggles to stay upwind with other foilers. Have you guys had any issues with the upwind ability of the drifter. I know there are two setting, but you wouldnt want to change the setting all the time. Im looking at second hand 2018 Drifters.
@@skip_nz6293 Let me know if you get any replies on the upwind ability of the drifter, I am also deciding to get a 2018 second hand SB or Drifter in 11. Thanks
I tend to agree! It's all about what you put the time in on the water. :P But many people love to hear the differences. Sometimes not so "little" The Evo is an awesome jumper! I've added your request to my list. Thanks De Chabot Alexis. - Rygo
Cheers! I'm glad you find them helpful! The Evo is their all around kite, the Neo is their wave kite. Like most modern wave kites, the Neo is much more than just a wave kite. You're going to have a lot of fun with it. Keep us posted on the progress!
Great video! These are always helpful. On another note, Rygo, apparently you guys don’t ride North EVOs, cause there’s no love being shown for the new, redesigned 2018 EVO. :( I’d like to see a 2017 vs 2018 EVO comparison before April, please. Thanks!
Haha, Hey Jay, the ice is just breaking up here. I've gone to Florida with the new Evo a couple times but unfortunately got skunked. I could have one of the boys here write up a solid review for you via email if you email us at kiteboarder@mackite.com I just like to log a fair amount of time personally on kites for this series. - Rygo

Can Anyone discuss the different possible wingtip and bridal settings combinations and preferences ?…
Hey, there-great question, my friend. 🤙🏽 This one would best be handled with a phone call. Got a moment to chat? (800) 622-4655

which is better for jumping drifter or fx
Hugo Wigglesworth that's a tough one. I'd say the drifter will be a bit loftier, a little less aggressive and a step closer to the Switchblade. - Rygo
