Definitely the most expressive and natural looking female in Tekken 8 - even with a demon claw. Her moveset looks very good too.
I saw some leaked footage of the story and Reina looks really expressive too. Bamco just need to recreate the facial animations for women going forward

She's an absolute baddie, and she's one of the coolest characters in the roster imo. I'm actually considering picking up Zafina lmao
What makes Zafina the best she’s been is these reasons:
-More talkative than ever before due to her role as a fortune teller/Host of Azazel.
-Re-vitalizes her important role within the TEKKEN Lore/current story mode as being one of the main characters in this installment.
-She is possibly the first “glass cannon” type of character in TEKKEN, but instead of using Her HP for higher DMG, she gains more grey health than the traditional route. This is only towards Azazel moves, and during Heat moves she becomes threatening due to not sacrificing health > Grey Health temporarily.
-They finished what they started from TEKKEN 7. She feels like a complete character now, imho.

true, even though jun also does significant white damage to herself, jun has significant healing especially in heat which makes her less of a glass cannon but zafina does not seem to have healing factor

You’re reducing that to just a trailer, this is in regards to fighting dialogue, story mode, special dialogue interactions, etc.
You have to be stupid to forget how much more quiet she was in T6 (her debut).

2,1,3 reduced dmg on the last hit from 17 to 11
1+2,4,4 dmg reduced from 20,12,26 to 17,10,20
df1,2,1 wall carry universally taken away, now ground slides
df3,4 is a i15 move instead of i14
d2,4,3 damage reduced on second and third hit from 13,15 to 10,10
CH db4,2 now screws right away
db1+2,1+2 damage reduced from 17,20 to 10,14
b2 no longer knocks down on normal hit
ff2 damage reduced from 28 to 20
ff3 damage reduced from 24 to 20 and is no longer a CH launcher
ws4 damage reduced from 18 to 14
scarecrow 3,3,4 string removed
scarecrow 4 was i14 now is i15

I'm so ready for T8 to release so I can lab Zafina in practice mode properly to get a feel of her with all of these nerfs. The damage nerfs to alot her key normal attacks bother me the most.

Dude that's a huge amount of damage nerfs and sounds like some of the cheaper attacks have been removed.. hopefully the claw will make up for it

As far as her movement being broken, I'd argue it has to be at least better than average for her toolkit to work at all. Same thing with Alisa and Lili. Kuni was just obnoxious.
I felt it would be reduced in T8 but glad it is so people can stop harping about it so much but they seem to have balanced her to engage rather than evade now with all the Azazel stuff which should cover that weakness to her movement she will have now. No one should have any excuses to losing to her now but they will find something else about her to cry about on release i'm sure lol

Biggest glow up of a female in Tekken
Zafina really making her way to becoming one of the relevant characters of Tekken. She moved from a DLC character to being included in main story.
I have a feeling they had Zafina in mind as being part of the story in Tekken 8 all along especially with the introduction of Claudio with his exorcist powers in T7. They immediately had them interact with each other during her T7 trailer when she was released as DLC. They seemed like a good pairing to weave a secondary storyline with right then. They gave her a special orb intro with him with the premonition "You have the power to destroy the Devil!" She also has special ones with those with the devil gene like Kazuya, Jin, Devi Jin, and Kazumi " You wield the devil's power, I will destroy you!" The put alot of thought into that. It's good they didn't scrape the idea of adding Azazel spirit possession lore to her as being canon and reintroducing her into the main storyline in T8 with a significant role in it.
She was relevant in Tekken 6 but ended up being wasted potential a little bit. Just another assassin waifu at the time. Now she has an identity of her own that goes beyond "Nina but middle-eastern".
@@DerUberBrotSadly post launch this is even more true sadly as far as wasted potential. Why put so much effort redesigning her how they did in Tekken 8 without giving a her a true moment to display Azazel powers and shine just a bit in the main story. They wrote her to be nothing but a easy pawn to be taken and used up like she was so irrelevant and a after thought to everyone except for Jin at least and Ling just a bit at times.

After going back to tekken in the last few weeks I've been playing zafina and shes my new main.. shes SO MUCH FUN!!! There's a lot to learn and think about, how to use all her stances effectively but playing her has made me want to REALLY learn tekken. Like ive been playing it casually on and off since tekken 5 but zafina is just a really fun and interesting character to learn I love her

I hate they did that to her lol. I kind of wish she wasn't as vocal its what I liked about her in T7. Hopefully someone makes a mod to fix that on PC version.

Zafina's trailer looks great but she got beaten to death with the nerf bat. The overall damage nerfs (for 10+ moves) were bad enough but they straight up took away her best low poke, slowed down her key CH launcher, and removed important mix up strings from SCR and MNT. She's now much easier to defend against.
Great, now her true mains can cherish her exclusively 😊
Cool within the game but not main story. So much wasted potential for her in that area...

My hand after being single for three years.
I've been into fighting games since I was a youngster but only dabbled with them for most of my life. Until I took it upon myself to actually learn the mechanics etc. that it involves. When I was a younger, I just assumed it was beyond me and stuck to meaty attacks and special moves. Bought many Tekken titles in the past but found Tekken too daunting to try and pick up properly. I've cut my teeth on street fighter and guilty gear. Time to get stuck into Tekken =)
Tbh all the female characters loom amazing in tekken 8. In general everyone is way hotter in tekken 8.

Locking that move behind a stance is a nerf.
It's hard one at that but ive been prepping myself with Zafina to not have it in netrual for a while in T7 by not using it much if at all once I saw it was gone in her movelist video thats been out for a bit. I'll be somewhat prepared for that nerf. The one redeeming thing about it from stance is that its +3 on hit and does 16 damage. Im curious what it will be on block since currently it's -16 on block.

It's cool seeing a bit more diverse characters of my own gender in this game because imo tekken consistently has had worse female characters than SF.

Da fuck are you smocking. If anything, it's impressive that she's capable of controlling Azazel as well as she does. Remember that he's theoretically the strongest character in the series, not to mention that he would be in a quiet strong state considering that the war is still going on.
That's a wild take. Most chars who even touched Azazel's orb were corrupted right away. Also presumably, Jin and Kazuya fighting is making Azazel's spirit stronger, and therefore harder to fight.
@@zafinaAnzuVery true. If you go back to Devil Jin's ending in T6 the orb literally sucks all of his devil energy returning him to base Jin. Zafina walks up shorly after after he collapes and simply picks up the orb. They did leave alot of room to speculate how she reacts to it of course but she obviously has great will power and a type of inner strength to seal Azazel power within her with a special spiritual like binding on her left arm which just barely keep him at bay which is why she has a claw hand all the time. You can feel her strong resolve to try to hold the full power of Azazel back in her intro in the trailer but it is getting harder for her in T8 than it was in T7. She is still trying to hold onto her humanity.
@@MEM-brain every second she’s moaning and grunting acting like she needs an exorcism, they could have handled that a bit better. They made it her whole persona.
