- it's a new year, and we start it off with our biggest manga haul ever from barnes & noble! fifty total volumes from their hardcover sale, an online order, and shopping in person + my first ever box set pick up as well! also, i'd love to know what are your collecting goals for the new year?

I haven't read them yet since I'm missing volumes so it'll be interesting to hear what you thought about them in your wrap up

Loved the video and wow, what a haul! I'm so thrilled to see you pick up Phantom Tales of the Night because it's an anthology style manga that NEEDS MORE ATTENTION! Also FMA doesn't actually have a lot of mecha elements to it and it goes more into alchemy but on steroids LOL. My personal manga collecting goal is to have read/reread my WHOLE collection (370+ mangas to read 🥲). If you want some recommendations that I feel you would absolutely love is Honey So Sweet. It's not a series I typically see in Barnes and nobles, but it isn't difficult to find and its a cute slice of life romance of an sweet girl falling in love with the delinquent-looking guy who is an absolute sweetheart. Always excited to watch when you drop a new manga video! My collecting goals for 2022 is to finally have my collection nicely displayed and just to continue growing it with series that I enjoy. The store was so well stocked, I definitely saw some stuff I would pick up haha like the vol 1 of Happy Sugar Life and Saint Young Men. So glad you picked up Skip and Loafer!! I'm waiting on a local store to get vol 2 in (they're saving it for me) but it's really delayed. There was a store here in the UK that also did the 50% off hardbacks sale and I went kinda crazy buying some hardbacks haha, definitely a great excuse to buy outside of what you would usually buy. I'm really tempted to pick up Mieruko-Chan myself, I know how you really like it and the plot seems really interesting. I've been loving Gal Gohan and I hope you do too! Keep Your Hands off Eizouken I'm really interested in too but I forgot about it until your video so thanks for reminding me :D Would love to hear your thoughts on My Wife is a Stone-Cold Killer cause I've been contemplating it, I swear our tastes are soo similar haha theres a lot here that I wanna pick up or already own as usual. Also really glad you picked up Cutie and the Beast, I got vol 1 now so I've been reading and love it, I think you'll enjoy it too! Sorry for rambling as I watched so much haha it's just amazing to me how similar our tastes are, I love the stuff you pick up and how you present it.

I feel like going to different Barnes & Noble is such an adventure because you always tend to find manga you can’t find anywhere else (aside from online)

Hi! I'm also new new to manga collecting, I started about like 3 months ago and I really love the hobby. My goals for my collection is to mainly collect shoujo manga and series that I loved the anime. I'm currently reading: Fruits Basket ,Attack on Titan, Those Not-So-Sweet Boys and A Sign of Affection. All 4 are great series that I would definitely recommend. However ,I'm really enjoying A sign of Affection since it's a nice sweet and lighthearted romance.I also really enjoy your manga hauls and watching you shop for manga.Keep up the good content! :)

2022: collect the rest of Deadman Wonderland. it was the first anime I fell absolutely in love with and is probably my all time favorite, and I need to finish the story by collecting the manga. I have 1 and 2, volume 3 is so hard to find right now so it'll be a journey.
and yes, if you have any local bookstores/comic shops you can usually find manga there!!! idk if you read books that aren't manga (I'm an all around book enthusiast) but I've had a lot of luck there. used manga of course, but you can't find really good stuff sometimes.

Happy 2022!~ Great haul as always, you tend pick up the most unique titles that I’ve never heard of lol it’s great ^^ Those after-holiday sales can sometimes be a bigger burden on our wallets than the holiday sales themselves, it feels like. And the Ayumu saga continues, though thankfully with only one copy of vol.2 picked up this time :p
I’m excited to hear your thoughts on FMA - it’s definitely one of my favorite anime, though I never finished reading the manga. I recently also picked up the hardcover for volume one, and I just have to say it may be hard to see the magic of the series from the first volume - especially the first few chapters - as they may seem kinda episodic and random, but trust me, the manga was well planned out, and everything comes together by the end. Despite the misleading title, it’s not really a mech series either, the focus is definitely on alchemy and its applications :) Also, nice choice for Bleach as your first box set - another manga/anime I thoroughly enjoyed when it came out
Doughnuts Under a Crescent Moon is also the first yuri I’ve ever picked up, and I’m loving it so far, the first and second volume both. It’s basically exactly as you described it, and a great look at self-discovery and how to become comfortable in your own skin. I know you said you’re trying to branch out from the rom-coms a bit, but a similar LGBT series I recently picked up was My Love Mix Up, which is also a great read and covers similar themes in slightly more comedic fashion - I’d recommend the first two volumes so far. I’d actually put My Love Mix Up and Skip and Loafer on the same level of awesome high school-based rom-coms that are a delight to read, so if you like Doughnuts and Skip, I’d totally recommend My Love Mix Up as well
I’m also really excited that you picked up The King’s Beast! I hope you enjoy it, but it’s also totally understandable if you don’t - it’s a pretty stereotypical shojo series (though with the extra benefit of being absolutely gorgeous, in my opinion ^^). I love the themes of working through trauma and the main characters dynamic character growth, which I think has been pretty well handled in the first three volumes. Cheeky Brat that you were looking at is pretty similar in that it’s just pure shojo extravagance and clichés through and through. I love that kind of stuff, but it’s something to keep in mind if you do end up picking more up :)
My goals manga collecting goals for 2022 are actually to collect less lol. I’m planning on moving abroad sometime in the next year, and I don’t want to have to sell off or leave behind any of my series, so I’m just focusing on getting the new volumes for series I’ve already begun collecting, and putting all the others that pique my interest on an ever-growing wishlist… or just reading them online instead ^^

I think I'll like King's Beast, you've said how great it was so I had to grab it! I also love that kind of stuff haha so I'll have to check out Cheeky Brat next time.

5:21 It's true that the synopsys of the first volume of The dangers in my heart is weird, but trust me, this is one of the best romcoms coming out in Japan in recent years. In my opinion it tops series such as My Senpai is annoying, Don't toy with me Nagatoro-san or Komi can't communicate. The first volume of The dangers in my heart is more focused on gags but the romance aspect of the manga quickly becomes the main aspect starting from the second volume on and there's real progression in the relationship between the two leads. I wholeheartedly recommend this manga to anyone who likes romcoms.

My goal for 2022 is finishing my Haikyu manga collection, it's been really hard to find a lot of the volumes, I'm trying to pick them up as I see them available so I really hope I can finish it! Besides Haikyu, I want to keep up with the ongoing series and explore different genres

Doughnuts under a Crescent Moon is fantastic! I've read it online but its on my back burner to get it physically. My main goal is to get some bookshelves so I can properly display my manga in my room haha. Other than that, going to try and catch up and grab all the volumes of Pokemon Adventure, starting with zero in the collection :D

I just finished vol 1 of Phantom tales of the night I loved the cover and the art was really cool ☺️ I have a lot more romance manga on my to try list from watching your channel! I am hoping to pick up some more Jujutsu Kaisen, Haikyu!!, and My Hero Vols. I have started reading those on the Shonen Jump app because I’m saving to get the Bleach box sets and more BL series this year

I’m very new to Manga & I’d love to have a store I could go into that stocks Manga so I could browse, I have to buy all my Manga online & rely on recommendation from others. But Rom/coms are the last thing on earth I’d read haha, but I’m happy you really enjoy them. I like Manga like Berserk (it was the first Manga I read & I adore it), Vagabond, Demon Slayer, Hellsing, Blade of the Immortal, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Blade of the Immortal, My Hero Academia, Attack on Titan, One Piece, stuff like that.
Ahh sorry you don't have one, maybe one will open up near you! And yeah they're not everyones taste haha shonens are always a great read as well 👍🙂
lil warning in regards to ID:invaded, its a direct sequel to the anime original of the same name - so i recommend watching that before reading the manga, as it wont make much sense otherwise

hello, I'm really enjoying watching your manga hauls (makes me realize how addicting collecting manga can be!!). probably my goal for this year is to finish demon slayer. Also if you get the chance to read 'The Golden Sheep' please do its a really good comedy/drama or 'The Way Of The House Husband' which is hilarious.

9:45, wow okay. I start reading Please Put them on Takamine San last week and then you pick it up. Nice. It's a fun series so far, the premise alone makes for a lot of fun scenarios (Also, just due to the nature of that series, the fan service is damn good). 13:07, if you get around to Happiness, let me know how it is. I was REALLY debating on picking that up on my most recent Rightstuf order but passed on it for right now. 8:36, wait, did my recommendation a few videos back convince you to get Gal Gohan? Niceeee. It's a fun series. Nothing super special, but it's a nice read. A lot of good pick ups overall though. I was looking around for manga sales from Barnes and Noble, I heard they usually do a buy 2 get 1 free sale every Christmas but I guess they didn't this year and I was so busy looking for that I guess I missed the hardcover sale. That Steins Gate hardcover looks amazing, I haven't read it or watched the anime and I would've gotten that just for that cover alone tbh.
My manga order finally shipped, the one I mentioned last time. In the meantime while waiting, I've been reading Saga of Tanya the Evil (Light Novel). I got sick of waiting for season 2 of the anime lol. Also a bit unrelated, episode 1 of the anime for My Dress Up Darling came out today and they're doing a good job so far. I can't wait for episode 2.

Fullmetal isn't mecha or mech like! I mean the main character does have automail which is just prosthetics. Not many characters in the manga have it, it has a lot of in world science though, I think you'll like it!

Great haul and video. I plan to finish collecting a few series this year along with picking up a few others. A few of the series I started reading last year are actually completed in Japanese or are close to finishing up. Given (might end with volume 8 with how seven ended volume 8 should be able to wrap up majority of the loose ends left in volume seven). I want to get up to date with JJK in Japanese so I can get through the Shibuya incident (currently at volume 18 in Japanese). I want to start Sasaki and Miyano and a few other BL series that have been on my list for the last few years. I want to get up to date with Living Room Matsunaga-san as well. I want to read more of Spy Family Kaiju no 8 Chainsaw Man and quite a few others. I want to get into some more light novels this year as well. I want to get Bungou Stray Dogs as well this has been on my list forever it seems like same with Chihayafuru (I have the first two or three volumes on BookWalker though). I also plan to try to get through all the things I have in my BookWalker library as well (over 100+ titles in there).

My goal for 2022 is the finish the entirety of bleach. I got all the box sets and finish 5 voulmes so far. I watch the anime and can't wait to see the last arc starting at vol 55.

I saw that you had Inuyasha by Rumiko Takahashi on your shelf and since you like romantic comedies so I recommend Maison Ikkoku, again by the same creator. Also since you want try out different genres I also recommend Mermaid Saga from the same creator again. Mermaid saga is about this guy who ate mermaid flesh which turned him immortal, and he's now looking for a way to turn normal again by finding a mermaid. So its just basically his adventures trying to find a mermaid throughout the years he's been alive. The only problem is that she never finished it so there's no official ending.

So happy that you picked up ID: INVADED # Brake-Broken! I recommend that you watch the anime ID: INVADED first because the manga is actually the sequel/continuation of the anime. A lot of the world structure and references would make more sense then. It's a great mystery and psychological series :) Phantom Tales of the Night is really good as well!

Does just getting what you want to read considered collecting? I am having this internal debat with myself on the subject for years. Like, don't collecting requires a end goal?
haha not sure. I guess I kind of think of it as both in a sense. Like I get what I want to read, and collect manga as well with the intention to read them all. I think some people just strictly collect without reading, or sell them off.

ID Invaded break broken manga is actually a sequel to the ID Invaded original anime. So do watch the anime first. And holy shit there's a lot of volume 1s u picked up 😂

Alright, I’m late to the party, but hopefully you haven’t read ID: Invaded yet. Because is a manga sequel to an original anime of the same name. So see the anime before you read, if you haven’t read it yet, if you have… then see the anime anyway and then re reed it.
