When I think of great World Champions in the Ruthless Aggression Era, John Cena, Batista, Undertaker, Randy Orton, and Edge are the main ones that come to mind.
John cena is overrated overhyped dude can’t even wrestle properly. He’s a weight room athletic not a wrestler. He was shoved down our throats never organically over.
That Batista - Undertaker feud is one the best feuds of all time. My favorite moment is when Taker smoothly transitioned from being on top of Batista's shoulders to a Tombstone Pile driver in the Elimination Chamber.
Batista comes to mind immediately when I think of the best champion of the Ruthless Aggression Era. 282 days as the Heavyweight Champion and only ended up dropping the title after he had to vacate it because of injury.
I know he wasn’t a champion for most of his career, but the undertaker has still got to be noted for being “that dude” for a very long time. One of the rare performers who really didn’t need a belt to still be considered at the top of any card.
i dont know why nobody talks about the age of orton title reign of 2007-08 . that 203 day reign was epic and an ideal reign for a slippery menacing heel
Batista and Cena immediately came to mind. The World Heavyweight Championship looked like it was made to be around Batista, it just worked. If you grew up during the Ruthless Aggression Era, you were either a Batista kid or a Cena kid. I was a Batista kid back then lol.
Tbh I think of Shawn Michaels when I hear ruthless aggression. His trilogy feud with Undertaker. Main event Mania 23 and putting over Cena. His 1 month run as WHC as the first winner of Elimination Chamber. His DX shit and elevating Rated RKO, feuding with the McMahons, and Spirit Squad 😭. Michaels was the locker vet of that era(him and Taker really) and he helped give so much back to the business by elevating stars and even ending careers, his Flair retirement match at Mania 24. Michaels did great stuff in that era when he was never really the top guy as the next generation was pushing through. But the work put in helped sustained and move the business forward. Shawn Michaels, underrated MVP of the Ruthless Aggression era. Thats just who I think of because he did top quality shit that he had so many career defining moments in that era.
May sound controversial, but I have fonder memories of Michaels RA era work than his Attitude era work. Both great runs in their own rights, but in the RA he was more seasoned, more psychological, and told better stories than when he was THE guy. He’s a hall of famer but am I crazy to think he was better later than when he was in his prime? Dude is an industry legend and its awesome that he really matured and got his life back on track. His work today with NXT proves he dropped his ego at the door long ago. Even in the RA, letting Cena and Taker go over? Great decisions in retrospect with all he’s done for WWE.
John Cena is my favorite wrestler. The WWE Spinner belt is my favorite championship. John Cena is the person I think of when people say The Ruthless Aggression Era. John Cena is the greatest world champion. John Cena is the G.O.A.T
❤❤❤John cena is the greatest of all time people that hate on cena are mainly old washed attitude era fans. The spinner belt was freaking awesome and is my favorite title in wwe.
Rey Mysterio. I know what you’re going to say, but hear me out. That was the fault of terrible booking. Rey sticking it out both in kayfabe and out is why I believe he belongs on/in this list. Out of kayfabe he dealt with some of the worst booking I’ve ever seen for a champ and in general.
Your clearly just a hater now why do you have to comment that you are one in a million cena is more then just for kids man have you seen thugonomics chain gang cena even pg cena showed more savagery on the mic cena was the guy that had orton number a lot.
Thank you Garth Morgan for doing these lists Simon miller is getting really old. Know if we could only get you to do ups and downs this would be the perfect wrestling channel.
I always think back to the cover of Raw vs smack down 2007. Cena, Trish, Batista, Rey, and The Game. Rey wasn’t a great Champion sadly. But he was no doubt a memorable part of that Era. Also question. Would Evolution be considered apart of that Era?
i love eddie but he doesn't deserve to be in this list he only had one world title run during ruthless aggression era which wasn't even that good i would put undertaker instead of him he won the world title 3 times during ruthless aggression era
When I think of great World Champions in the Ruthless Aggression Era, John Cena, Batista, Undertaker, Randy Orton, and Edge are the main ones that come to mind.

John and Dave deserve the top spots, they were obviously the faces of the ruthless aggression era and they carried the company
John cena was obviously the number 1 guy
why they never main evented mania together ..is still a mystery to me

Cena and Batista were undeniably THOSE MEN during thr Ruthless Aggression ers.
That Batista - Undertaker feud is one the best feuds of all time. My favorite moment is when Taker smoothly transitioned from being on top of Batista's shoulders to a Tombstone Pile driver in the Elimination Chamber.
John Cena comes to mind when I think of the ruthless aggression era, regardless if you liked him or not. He kept it going for the company.
And he was the first guy to say it
Undertaker and Chris jericho should be honourable mentions.
No Jericho shouldn’t he had forgettable IC title reigns 😂😂😂
2002-2005
1) Triple H
2) Brock Lesnar
3) Kurt Angle
4) Eddie Guerrero
2005-2008
1) John Cena
2) Batista
3) Triple H
4) Edge
5) Randy Orton
Man that era was magic
The quality of matches in the "Ruthless Agression" era were better than in the "Attitude Era"
Easily

Honestly this period had some decent World Champions between both Men's and Women's Division
The first Champs of the Ruthless Aggression Era I thought of was the Hooligans aka Paul London and Brian Kendrick... RIP Ashley Massaro.
I always like Victoria she never got her due I felt
Batista and Cena immediately came to mind. The World Heavyweight Championship looked like it was made to be around Batista, it just worked.
If you grew up during the Ruthless Aggression Era, you were either a Batista kid or a Cena kid. I was a Batista kid back then lol.
Honorable mention: Undertaker
I would mention JBL, but he was only Champion because Triple H didn't want to work Tuesdays. (Back when Smackdown was on Tuesdays.)

Batista and John Cena.
Ruthless Aggression's top dog undisputed.
They *weren't* them, but they were that era's Stone Cold and Rock
JBL gotta be up there. He was entertaining.
Edge, Batista, Cena, Taker fighting for ONE

Sorry, but having Eddie over Triple H is just biased.
The Attitude Era was both good & Dumb
The Ruthless Aggression Era to me was actually better
Jimmy Wang Yang as the cruiser weight champion carried smack down and arguably the entire WWE during this era. Legendary.
He was never champ tf 😂😂
@@alexvatoloco258 he was cruiserweight champ. So yes, he was a champ
Triple H at 8?! Wayyyy tooo low
Why is Triple H #8?

Trish is fine af

Hmmm, Lesnar 2 year run over Trips 8 years
Randy Orton #5?
Batista and Cena!!!
Edge was the greatest champion of the 2000s. It’s not even comparable.
HHH not in top 5 is debatable , but him below Mickie James is just shameful
Edge, Angle, Rock, Triple H, Batista, Mark Henry, Orton, Trish, Taker and Bryan or Punk. Thats without watching😂
Mark Henry only won the ECW TITLE and CM Punk had a meh ECW title reign and a Mickey Mouse world title reign soooo no
I actually prefer Randy Orton over John Cena. Orton was more entertaining and a better wrestler. John Cena is too much for the kids.
