It's not completely unusable but I was more concerned with having a new but faulty body/lens so I could exchange it if necessary. Thanks for the help! :)
I always use IBIS, depending on how much you shake wobble can happen with IBIS. It's a common problem. So causing the least amount of shake possible helps.

Pascal.... I am enjoying my Fujifilm XT4 ...what a great camera 📸 !! But I am also curious about Panasonic Lumix S5. A full frame Camera for less than $2000. What's your opinion about this camera ?
The S5 seems like a good option as well, but mostly if you really need full frame for wide angle zoom lenses, vlogging... aside from that, the X-T4 seems to be the better camera. Better colors, native lens options etc.
Depends on the camera. With the X-T4 you can do it as long as you set the focus point on the head as face tracking doesn't always work perfectly. Also, if you do manual, better use a higher aperture, like F2.8 or F4 to be save when the person moves a bit.
I Need Lens for my dance Videos And I want good autofocus and need background blur as well.. Pls can you suggest me which lens I want to buy.? I already have 16-55 , F2.8..

I unfortunately chose to sell my Sigma 18-35, loved that lens, but boy is that focus noisy. Hopefully it wasn't just a problem with my Fringer adapter, but I'm moving on to the 16-55! I've had so many split decisions between this zoom and a set of primes, but I think the 16-55 will be worth it for how much video I'm now doing on top of photography.
Thanks Pascal! Great video. I have a quick one with X-S10. I want to get 10 bit 422 and 4K 60P video out of it with HDMI output. Do you know how to set it up on both the camera and ninja v? I tried many times but cannot get the result i want...Grateful if you can help here.
@@pascalbasel I used to think and say the same! But just a few weeks ago, Fuji released updates for a few lens including the 16-55 and 16-80 which fixed focus and exposure tracking while zooming during filming, so focus is great and the change in exposure is subtle & gradual rather than a abrupt step. I updated my 16-55 and there is a huge difference, it’s amazing. For footage, check of Cinedailies video “my favorite lenses for video” where he shows his 16-55 no stepping while zooming (with the new firmware of course). Turns out, it was always a limitation of the lens. If it can’t be fixed in other lenses, hopefully fuji makes this the standard for their future lenses.
Hi Pascal, I'm using sigma 18-35 on my XT4 for videos and sometimes I’m having a problem with the over-saturated image, (I lower contrast and saturation in setting already) do you experience a similar problem?
@@pascalbasel I have the 18-55. Do you it's worth it to switch to the 16-55? I feel like my 18-55 is not sharp like my 35 f2 and I'm wondering if it's my error or the lens is just not that great.
It is now September 2021 and the 18-35 Sigma may be offered with a native X mount now that Fuji has relented and is allowing other brands of lenses to be made. They are rumors right now but very strong rumors. The 18-35 Sigma is one awesome lens and not having to use an adapter will make that lens a bit shorter on a Fuji X mount.
I too hope for an X-mount. But knowing Sigma they will most likely work on E-mount (their biggest customer) version first. Only problem is Sony doesn't have any reliable APS-C/S35 pro camera that isn't overshadowed by the A7S3/FX6 (at least in terms of popularity/hype). Until the day Sony makes a new S35 cine or pro-body APS-C camera that has similar specs to GH6 and XT4, I doubt we'll see a new S35/APS-C lens from Sigma. In my opinion, they should just totally make a 16-33mm f/1.8 or f/2, weather sealed, silent motor, with mechanical focus. I really hate the modern fly by wire systems.
I use the Peak Design Everyday 30. But I got it used for a good price and perfect condition. For the original price, I wouldn't buy it. Pgytech just released a very similar bag for a cheaper price and some more functions. I would look into that one. And the Freeline from LowePro looks great as well and it's cheaper.
I've heard the 16-55 has trouble when pulling focus manually, even if the camera is set to linear mode. Is it easy to get smooth pulls or will the lens jump quickly from close to infinity? I'm thinking of getting one as an all-in-one lens because the 18-35 is really heavy and long with adapters.
I find the 16-55 very easy to manually focus. I also have the sigma and it’s great, but I only use on wedding days or paid gigs. It’s too heavy for personal use.
You say "zoom range of 27 to about 50mm", but the sigma lens is a crop sensor lens already so why would you multiply that by 1.5? Is that really true, is it because of the adapter? I would really appreciate an answer because I don't find anything about it on the internet and I have a sigma 18-35 lens lying around, while using Fuji now, so would be awesome if that's true. I would go for buying an adapter then.
Hi Pascal, thanks for the video. I want to ask you for advice. For a long time, I have struggled with picking the right lens for video. I have X-T5, and I am looking for one lens that can be as versatile and give me the best performance. Since I am always backpacking with heavy near, I want to reduce my lenses to one if possible, and yet to make rich travel videos.
@@pascalbasel my biggest dream is to make videos like this ruclips.net/video/ay-KbtIza4E/видео.html and I am about to go to Bali, so I hope I can find the right lens for my Fuji that can give me the same image. Of course, I understand that there is color grading and a lot of professional montages.
Thanks for this video. Great content! By the way, any idea if the 16-80mm f4 kit lens belongs to the LM category? On the lens, it just says WR. And, how is the auto focus performance on this lens? Of course, I've heard great things about its OIS but not sure if its auto focus is as good as the 16-55mm f2.8. Any thoughts on this? Thanks a lot.
Great video, but you are showing the wrong location for adjusting video AF-C - it is under "Movie Settings" and camera has to be in movie mode. The one in the video is the photo AF-C settings.
@@pascalbasel Ah, on X-T3 there is an option there, but it only applies to photos and has a different sub menu. When switching the camera to Movie mode, an option with the same name shows up in "Movie Settings" and the "AF-C Custom Settings" is grayed out under AF/MF - the menus on the X-T3 are very confusing! - awesome video btw, thank you!
Very helpful! I do wish Sony would make a 35mm with linear motors. I had the 35mm f2 and loved it for photos but it breathed terribly for video. Have you ever tried the viltrox 33mm on the Fuji?
I use the XF18-135mmF3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR as a video lens. I always have that on my X-T3 and it is enough for my demands as a vacation filmmaker. Important for me: It has good optical stabilization, as the body does not have IBIS. The light intensity could certainly be better, but if necessary I'll raise the ISO value. If I am only out and about in low light situations, such as Evening mood in cities, I take the kit lens XF18-55mmF2.8-4 R LM OIS, because the light intensity is a bit better. Sometimes the XF50-140mmF2.8 R LM OIS WR too. It's a great, fast lens, but very heavy ... and expensive.
What lense would be good for selfies so that the photo doesn't get mirrored?

Very good video thank you for sharing good info! 🙂 I'd have one question: where can you buy that little black plastic cover which is on the X-T4's body? I very quickly lost mine :-(
Hey pascal when I upload 4k videos, the 1080p quality and lower is quite bad compared to 4k. Is there something wrong with my compression or is that for all 4k RUclips videos? You'd think 1080 would still be great....
Well, lower resolution means less quality, especially on big screens. Make sure you use a high bitrate when uploading to RUclips (or if you edit in Final Cut just use the Apple Devices 4K export profile).
@@pascalbasel The Tamron lens I wish to use is the 11-20 mm 2.8 which is made for Sony APSC - E Mounts 🧐 Btw brother, how would you think about it when it comes to video ? Think its worth the trouble with the Foojjj ? Thank you! Much appreciated and God bless you. 🙏🏻
I tried the 10-24 and hated it. Didn't look good for vlogging... way too much wobble etc. Then better the Canon wich does around the same job but for cheaper price.
Thanks for the good video! Have you tried the hand held video with the 55-200 lens using the longer focal lengths like 100mm or even 150mm? How is the stabilization? I am also thinking the 16-55f2.8 + 55-200 + 23mm 1.4 combo but also thinking if the 16-80 f4 + 23mm 1.4 could be enough. Have you ever tried the Fuji 16-80 f4 lens. Sometimes the 55mm is not enough and there is no time to change lens and then extra reach would be nice. Also that lens would work better for the macro kind of close ups.
Yeah, I only shoot handheld. It’s fine together with ibis. f4 is a bit high for me and I can still crop a bit if I need more zoom. The zoom range more than enough in my opinion.
It wobbles a bit as far as I remember. But gets a bit better if you turn IBIS + DIS on. Also depends on the shot. Wobble mostly happens when you walk. For normal shots that’s usually a non issue.
Love your reviews Pascal. I've read alot of lensmoaners complaining about extreme distorsion at 16mm and 55mm and heavy vignetting, what is your opinion on this having used the 16/55 for a long time? Is it really an issue or just typical lensmoaning that truly does not matter for video?
Thanks, I shoot mostly video, which cuts off the top and bottom of the sensor because of the 16:9 ratio. So vignetting and distortion is less noticeable. Also there is in-camera processing going on, what likely fixes those issues directly. For raw photos I don't care about such things as they can easily be fixed in post. I think the 16-55 is the must have lens for this camera.
I bought the Tokina and sold it after one day. Loud, bad af even with mf and af-on and very front heavy with the adapter. Then I‘d rather have the Canon with lower aperture but everything else better.
I have the 18-55...it's ok, the 10-24 and yes a LOT of wobbling but very good for landscapes, the viltrox 23 and 56...very good for the price. Hope viltrox will do a wide angle lense and maybe a zoom lense? :-)

I would like 16-55 the most, but I'm afraid that it may not cope with a dark dance floor and then I'm thinking about viltrox 23 1/4, but I'm afraid of the lack of mobility and here comes the sigma 18-35 (unfortunately it is really big as you said) Dilemmas ... Do you think 16-55 will meet my requirements?
I shot a whole wedding on the GH5 + 18-35 + Atomos Ninja V. Yes it’s heavy but absolutely doable. So I would go for this lens.
Just wondering, why would you choose Viltrox 23mm f1.4 instead of xf23mm f2? Is Viltrox better in any terms?
Price and aperture
7:12 so EFS monut can go on Fringer EF-FX ProII adapter?
Hi Pascal, I'm looking to upgrade my filmmaking/music production gear to a Fuji XT-4 system. Unfortunately, I can only buy 2 lenses. So I chose 16-55 f2.8. Can you recommend another lens to go with?
I like the Viltrox 23mm 1.4 very much.
@@pascalbasel But fujifilm xf 23mm 1.4 is the available one 🙁
@@dinangawickramarachchi4227 The Fuji sucks for video, get the Viltrox.
How you compare the 50-140mm vs 55-200mm? I want to get the 50-140mm, what's the difference other than the weight and distance? Thank you! 👍
I didn’t use the 50-140. But I prefer to have a small long rage zoom with me instead of such a heavy one.
Does your Viltrox 23mm f1.4 make focusing noise during autofocus? And extremely loud aperture noise in videos?
Sold a7s3 because I hate and suck at color grading. Moving to Fuji for straight out of camera quality and emulations or recipes. Xt4 or. S10 for video and photo out of camera???
Best X-H2S or X-T4 depending on how important AF is for you.

Great video Pascal! I have the 16mm F1.4 and the 50-140mm.. LOVE THEM!
16mm 1.4 would be nice to have but price ;-)
Thanks for the recommendations Pascal. Could you please review the new XF 18-120mm considering it is primarily for video?
Thanks, I'm actually not interested in the 18-120 at all. F4 is just too slow more me. I'd rather get the Tamron 17-70.
Do you use manual focus for talking head videos if you are the cameraman?
Depends on the camera. With the X-T4 you can do it as long as you set the focus point on the head as face tracking doesn't always work perfectly. Also, if you do manual, better use a higher aperture, like F2.8 or F4 to be save when the person moves a bit.
I Need Lens for my dance Videos And I want good autofocus and need background blur as well..
Pls can you suggest me which lens I want to buy.?
I already have 16-55 , F2.8..
Hello! What do you think about zeiss 12mm?
hi pascal,im lookin to upgrade to xt4 with a 16-80 bc theres a rlly good deal on the bundle.what other budget lens should i get?preferably onetht does well in lowlight.
I would recommend anyone of the Viltrox primes. they are great for low light.
I tried many times but cannot get the result i want...Grateful if you can help here.
great quality video, thank you for all the advice
Thanks Killian
I broke my 16-80 and looking for new lens, but I need only one do it all lens, which one??
16-55 2.8 or 18-55 if you want something small.
You use quite some lenses. Do you have any issues with keeping the sensor clean? How often do you need to clean it?
No, I always remove the lens cover first and then the lens/sensor cover so I keep the air time short and hold the camera down.
But I also use two bodies, so I don’t have to change lenses so often, I just grab the other body ;-)
How does the 55-200 handle exposure and focus while zooming? Is it as good as the 16-55? No weird exposure stepping?
From my experience, all lenses have exposure stepping, even the 16-55 and the Tamron 17-70. It seems to be a body or mount issue and not a lens one.
No, doesn’t sound like a lens problem.
Do you capture with Eterna or F-Log? Seems like you are using a film simulation setting, that boosts contrast and coulors (Velvia?)
What do you think of the XF 16-80 zoom lens?
Also how does the Viltrox compare to the XF 23F2
I didn’t use any of these. Using the 18-55 right now which is good as well.
Hey I’m curious which backpack you are using? Thanks
Thanks for the focus tips.
You're welcome
Great tips as always :)
Thank you 👍🏻
What about finger pro + 50-100 1.8 sigma? worth it?
I didn’t try it, but should work fine.
Do you recommend the new Fujifilm 33mm f.4 or 23mm f1.4 lm wr or the 18mm f1.4?
I never used any of these lenses. Only Viltrox primes.
Do you have experience shooting video with 16mm 1.4 and 56 1.2?
No, never tried these lenses.
You always have to multiply it with the crop to get ff equivalent. Doesn't matter if you put a crop lens on it or an ff lens.
It depends what you want to do, but if only one lens, I'd go for Tamron 17-70 F2.8, but better two lenses, this one and the 11-20.
@@pascalbasel my biggest dream is to make videos like this

and I am about to go to Bali, so I hope I can find the right lens for my Fuji that can give me the same image.
I never used this lens. It's not a LM lens... for something cheaper, I can recommend the 18-55 f2.8
Great video, but you are showing the wrong location for adjusting video AF-C - it is under "Movie Settings" and camera has to be in movie mode. The one in the video is the photo AF-C settings.
Not sure which camera you’re talking about but on the X-T4 that’s the correct location.
- awesome video btw, thank you!
can you vlog yourself with 18-55 kit lens? is this wheater resistant?
I wouldn't recommend it. 18mm + 1.5 + stabilization crop is too close. But you can put it on a tripod or gorilla pod and stand a bit further away.
Very helpful! I do wish Sony would make a 35mm with linear motors. I had the 35mm f2 and loved it for photos but it breathed terribly for video. Have you ever tried the viltrox 33mm on the Fuji?
I think you meant Fuji ;-)
Yes you are right! I meant Fuji!
Yeah, a great shot doesn't necessarily need much bokeh. There the zoom can come quite handy.
What about 55-200mm?

Hey man I’m planning to get the xt3 now that it’s autofocus is improved do these lenses perform the same with XT3 too ?
I never used the X-T3. So can't say anything about it
Did you get the Viltrox 56mm yet? I’m just about to pull the trigger on one
No but I expect it to be very good.
Nice video, do you feel a difference in term of quality between the 18-35 and 16-55 on the image and autofocus?
Didn’t pixel peep it, but I would say from image, Sigma wins. AF is a bit better on the 16-55 but only a bit.
Is there am adapter which would allow me to use Tamron lenses with the Foojjj X-T4 🧐🤔
The Fringer EF-FX Pro 2 if your Tamron lenses are for Canon EF

The zoom range more than enough in my opinion.

hi, great video. when you use Canon EF-S 10-18MM IS STM at 10mm the image doesn't wobbling and shake a lot ?
I think this is a much better option for wide-angle, Tokina 11-16mm f 2.8.
I bought the Tokina and sold it after one day. Loud, bad af even with mf and af-on and very front heavy with the adapter. Then I‘d rather have the Canon with lower aperture but everything else better.
Best Fuji lens for Stills?
I'm not a stills shooter ;-)
I have the 18-55...it's ok, the 10-24 and yes a LOT of wobbling but very good for landscapes, the viltrox 23 and 56...very good for the price. Hope viltrox will do a wide angle lense and maybe a zoom lense? :-)
True, for landscapes the 10-24 is absolutely useable. I hope the same for Viltrox. 10mm f2 or so for astro photography.
