In real life, Eastern European cartoons were absolutely awesome. Great animation, entertaining stories, adorable and fun characters, and they were much less violent than most US cartoons. You should check out some of them.
@@danielrudolf5441 true Simpsons is a US cartoon so one of the bad things about a lot of US media is it is very biased and usually portrays Eastern Europe in a negative light because of the Cold War One of my fav cartoons from Eastern Europe is The Mézga Family. It's really good! It's actually better than the SImpsons but not as many people got to see it but it's really good. ruclips.net/video/qXhL1laClYk/видео.html
At Leningrad a young man just finished his KGB training and started spying for the state including watching and recording the street production of this video. His name is V V Putin.
Who would of thought at the time that the colossus would fall a mere 13 years later. Absolutely remarkable how the procession of history is full of unforeseen events that alter entire civilisations.
@@micahw83 yes it indeed does, particularly the United States and the West in general. I have always admired the US, the idealistic and enlightened notions that gave birth to the American republic, which at the same time confronted the reality of the human condition. Yet that idealism and enlightenment values are the bedrock of the American nation indeed the US is the product of the enlightenment. However as we see today neo Marxism and the desire for the collective to outweigh the rights of the individual are all too apparent. Enlightenment values which are the cornerstone of modern western civilisation are being attacked by the far left in the form of cancel culture, the need for self censorship, political correctness and so on. It is a clash between authoritarianism/ collectivism and enlightenment values. It is also an economic clash that seeks to subvert the gains made by capitalism in the name of “social democracy.” One would hope that ultimately enlightenment values are able to overcome this period of incessant attack, since if the far left are successful in completely altering the foundational values of the west, then ultimately stagnation and decline are the likely conclusion or even a new dark age where reason is completely done away with.
@@sanjitbolina7481 Collective vs individual in humans is the same answer as to meat vs plant. The answer really lies somewhere in the middle. Capitalism and Communism both got most things wrong in their own ways. Most of human history is groups competing with other groups. My biggest problem with the modern US is it just claims to be a republic of free individuals but the American reality is more like a state sponsored aristocracy.
This is the same voice as the guy who did Forensic Files. A guy I worked with (he was in his 60s) when I was a bank teller in 2016 told me this guy also did the voice for Richard Nixons Campaign Ads.
One thing that the video got wrong is that even though there was only one candidate per election the candidates werent always elected. After Stalin the party used the "elections" as a performance indicator for local officials. If the majority of people in the area didnt vote for an official the party was actually most likely to replace that candidate with someone else and run the election again.
Russia is still the largest country in the world after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Much of what was filmed in 1978 has continuity and permanence in the face of sweeping and turbulent change. Behind the distinct facade of various regimes, Eternal Russia is still with us.
This was produced in 1978, in the waning years of detente between the USSR and the USA and already the Soviet government was violating human rights against dissidents like Andrei Sakharov. And in 1979, one year after this documentary was produced, the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan ending detente thusly.

Thank you for the upload. I'm very fond of your videos about the soviet union, they are extremely interesting.
Agreed. The Soviet uploads are my favorite.

@@SnakeBush what about him?
@@SnakeBushI agree Lukashenko. He was a major in the Soviet army and sort of maintains some Marxist Leninist values however he’s not a Marxist.
That oboe intro was bitchin.
The cartoon at th beginning reminds me of Eastern Europe's favorite cat and mouse team, Worker and Parasite
Lol bruh I was just thinking that...with the weird-ass music in the background too

Wait so Putin himself actually shadowed the making of this specific film as a KGB agent? I cant find anything to confirm this.

Dang they can use that intro soundtrack as a Hearts of Iron TNO anthem.
This is the same video from when I watched the history channel back in the day😂
Sad
the Romanov Dynasty lasted for 300 years not 400.
So how did it work out in the end still a nation of slaves.
