Twice! I realized I had a spyderco in my pocket after being dropped at the airport. Both times I rushed outside and buried them in a planter and retrieved both upon my return.
Hey dude, I just caught this a few days after the Bentonville festival. Sitting in a hotel room waiting for my windshield to be replaced because it was destroyed in the tornado. This was a very good video. I think it might be my favorite that you've made. It was informative, interesting, entertaining, And I was in it! Can't beat that! Let me know if you want to do a trip to Durango. I have a guest room. It's yours if you want it.
Sounds like a good time. I don't think I'd be able to make it out that way this year, but its definitely a contender for next year! I'm glad ya liked the video. It was fun to make.
You were shredding through those trails with all the cactus! That would trip me out coming from where I ride. Looks like a super fun time and I really enjoyed this style of video!
Robert, next year when you don't go to the Sedona Mountain Bike Festival, be sure to visit Prescott and ride Bean Peak. PMBA have created the first mountain bike specific gravity flow trails in the state of Arizona and they are an absolute blast to ride.
@@B1KER from what I see in your videos I agree. It does look like some of the AR state parks have good riding. I’d like to check that out some time. I’ve done Bentonville and not my favorite either.
Man, I fell for the click bait. I do the same thing with traveling to other spots or festivals then wind up at Sedona again. I do wish they would've moved it to November like the Covid year, the weather was perfect. Thanks Robert, see you there next year probably.
Good idea with the assembly in a-bike shop lot. Running to demos?! Never understood why people try so hard to be around other people. There are so many other better places to ride than Sedona. Leave it for the kooks!
The Sedona trails are already crowded all year long! So why the hell would anyone want to purposely go there when the whole place is insanely busy is just insane😂
For me it's really fun to see a bunch of people I haven't seen in a year. Plus, there are so many trails there, we typically don't run into other riders aside from maybe on Slim Shady. I'd say more than anything we run into hikers which obviously aren't there for the festival.
Sedona's chamber of commerce went into overdrive years ago. It's sad, but az is a big big state. Too big to be labeled ruined because it's not. Living here year round seems to work for me. The tourists aren't in the nooks and crannies so much.
I had the pleasure of meeting you at the festival this year. You had me, I was like, he's no longer going, then I watched till the end. Anyway, for me, I brought my bike but... I wanted to demo some bikes and many of them were out because some of these companies barely brought enough. Yeti was the only company that looked like they brought like 50 bikes. Ibis and Pivot, they didn't bring much. Not sure I would justify that amount just for shuttles. We waited for a shuttle to pick us up from Hi line for an hour and 20 minutes. There were like 35 people waiting. It wasn't good. I'll remember to check VRBO next time. I would say if you are booking in late January, the prices are insane! So book a room quickly.
Phoenix TSA seem especially ornery. True story, they didn’t let me through with the torque wrench I had shipped to my parents house at the beginning of the trip. Fortunately I had to to go back to the ticket counter and check my carry on bag (with torque wrench) for the trip home to. Chicago.
TSA is so undpredictable. I'll have one experience for like 3 trips then one day at some airport that guy is like, "NO, th'at's the way it's always been." It's so annoying.
Nice video Rob. And yes I’ve not done a bike event in a long time. I planned doing a long bike camping thing with a friend this summer. Not a mtb event but a long ride. I’ll be doing videos on it.
I lived right next to South Mountain in the late 90s as a college student at ASU. Rigid steel frames with a couple inches of front suspension is all I could afford. Really did damage on those bikes. I became very good at making things work lol
Alaska airlines doesn't have the 50lb weight limit on bikes. They by far have the best policy for flying with a bike, standard bag fee, must be in a box or bike bag, no weight limit, no ebikes.
That's true, the downside is they partner with American. I bought an Alaska flight and when I showed up to the airport it was an American flight and they charged me for being overweight....facepalm.
Is Spartan Rides the former mobile shop you did a piece on a few years ago? Didn’t they let you rent suspension components to try out like a different shock? Do they still do that?
I went to Sedona MTB Festival in 2022 and it was freezing cold and raining for the whole trip. Because of that I did not chose to go the following year. I am glad they moved it back a few weeks. I might go again next year because I did not take advantage of all the demos available and I regret that.
That year was a bit of a bummer. But the plus side is I rode some fun stuff outside of Sedona in Cottonwood that I never would have tried. We also drove back to Phoenix one day and rode Hawes. Mother Nature can be an asshat sometimes.
March is still ski season for me, but it sounds like a good place to try and visit sometime. Its an issue though that places that are too hot during summer and people usually visit in winter kind of makes it unlikely I'll visit, because a MTB trip in the middle of winter is just not really in the cards for me.
I live in the Sedona area and really only super hot late June through August. Temps are reasonable the rest of the year. If highs are mid 90s or higher just try to ride early. It’s more humid then but temps are better. You can always ride Flagstaff or Mingus Mtn as a cool off day.
You should check out Prescott, just a little over an hour from Sedona. Lots of great trails in the pine trees. Keegan Swenson has won the 50 mile MTB race there the last 5 years.
And let’s cut the shit and recognize how freaking good Robert looks!
Bruh has been putting in the work!
Ah, Thanks man!
Yes! Love me a good Calirado Cameo! Great video dude!
My wife and I were laughing about how you are always on. Such a perfect line I had to put it in the edit.
Twice! I realized I had a spyderco in my pocket after being dropped at the airport. Both times I rushed outside and buried them in a planter and retrieved both upon my return.
Oh, nice! Quick thinking!
With the current price of Spyderco ya dang right!
What a great video so informative and just super helpful. You are riding like a champ there!
I appreciate that!
You had me going!... I really want to get to Sedona one day so I'm glad there wasn't some reason not to go! lol
Hahahahaha! You'll regret not doing it sooner. If you go during the fest it's awesome, but I've had just as much fun when the fest wasn't in town.

That sounds rad. I've been wanting to go to Tuscon and ride there too!
Sedona sucks. Next time, Bentonville, just one time to try it out. I think youd love it
Next week, I'll be there!
If you like family trails you’ll love it.
@@NorthernAZMTB 😂 My guess is it will be fun but from what I saw online it’s probably not my favorite type of riding.

I agree. Wasn’t a huge fan of Sedona. I love NW Arkansas! Likely the best place I’ve road in the US.

The weather was awesome in November, but there is something fun about it kicking off the season. I'm ok with the crappy weather sometimes.

To each there own 🤷♂️
Festivals are only as good as the people who attend. I'm not a fan of groups of people and TAs so Festivals are usually out for me.
I can totally understand.
Was awesome seeing you again and riding with you guys in Phoenix and Sedona 🤙
Definitely, same to you man! You need to make your way up here to NorCal.
Biker you need to do your camping trip at Downeyville that you did a few years ago. Bring back Biker Jeopardy. Do it again this summer.
Sounds like a good idea. I’ll check the calendar
@@B1KER make it happen. Biker Jeopardy is a classic game.
Nice video and thanks for sharing. What a cool experience. I will put that festival on the wish list.
It’s a good one.
I don’t think I would like the riding much
there. Looks beautiful though.
There is so much for everyone. I really just highlighted the stuff I like to ride.
Any festival is a bad festival.
If you say so 🤷♂️
Pretty much. Vendor fees are way too high, so they're pretty much just trying to sell a crazy amount of stuff nowadays.
I completely get the heights fear. yikes, no thanks
Yeah, there are a few spot in Sedona where I’m fighting the demons!
rmr is ok, next time out hit up Boulderdash and Pure-O(varies) !
I did ride those. Definitely fun. I was just putting that one in because a lot of people talk about it.
you have to make it to colorado so many trails fruita if you can get there is amazing

I think renting a truck and splitting costs with buddies is the way to go!

It’s one of mine. You can buy one at shop.B1KER.com

Good ear. I'm originally from PA.
Go to the “Santos fat tire festival” instead.
I think that’s the one in Florida. I heard good things about it.

I feel the same way about experiencing new places. In order to see new places, I generally don’t repeat the same destination. Great video.
I think I've come to realization that I just have to accept I'm going to Sedona every year and I need to budget better for other trips!
If you go to Bentonville and have time make the 2 hour drive to Tulsa and ride Turkey Mountain. I'd be happy to show you around.
I’m sure I’ll be busy enough riding what they have there. Thanks for the offer though 🙌

They used to do a lot of Demos. I don’t remember the shock thing. But hit them up. They are a great shop.
Really enjoyed this video -- and, while I primarily follow you via Pod, I'm aware of your health journey. Pleased to see your success!

Nothing wrong with a healthy understanding of heights. That’s some amazing country. Wish Australia had some festivals like this.
