Now that The Police, especially Sting actually, persist in their refusal (or rather fear, I guess) of making that highly sought after new material, we - the loyal fans - have to get that job done. So take a moment for this refreshed version of the titlesong of Reggatta de Blanc. Don't be fooled by the live video images. This is a studio version remix, no live audio shreds were used in this remix. As far as I know it’s the first real remix of the song.
Originally intended as an instrumental part in the middle of ‘Can’t stand losing you’, but somewhere between april and june 1978 chopped out of the first version, and re-recorded on Reggatta in 1979. In july ’79 they still referred to it as ‘Can’t stand losing you, the bit we left out’. Definately the track we used to go nuts on collectively, at the time...

This is the definitive Police sound
One of the most powerful songs I've ever heard. Not because the band turned everything up to 11 and thrashed the shit out of it. Because they didn't!! The amazing rhythm section of Sting and Stewart Copeland was the heart of the Police, and never better demonstrated than on this track. Andy Summers threading in and out with his harmonics builds the song up to Sting's stellar, soaring vocals to the climax. The Police were able to use Reggae and a brilliant ability to utilise the holes in songs, and fill them imaginatively, to make a sound that was purely their own. Bloody amazing band!

Other Police experts who can clarify this? What you hear in it probably also depends a bit on the language you speak. See the reaction of Alejandro Moreno S., he hears "Dos Cervezas" in it :-) :-)
