Hi Phil. Thank you for this video. I was pleasantly surprised to see that you can use the last touch on the rims.
Hi Phil! I bought a new car in April and this is my first time having black gloss wheels. They do look delicate and I didn't want to damage them. Many thanks for showing me exactly what I need to do and the types of products I need to use!
Awesomne...Congrats! You're Welcome!
Lifesaver thank you!, bought a new LTcrew trail boss and the gloss black wheels have scared me to death to clean
Phil, All of your videos are so awesome and really helpful! i am kick starting my auto detail business in a couple months, and once I am up and running i will absolutely love to add you to my list of shout outs! Thank you so much for all the links and information you share! Extremely helpful!
Thank YOU! That’s awesome man!
Great tips. I need to check out wheel woolies. One of our cars has powder coated matte finished wheels so also need to be extra careful on those.
It is so much fun listening to master. Thanks
Dang I needed this video. For 3 months I haven't had a clue how to clean inside the barrel of my new gloss black wheels.
Great tip for black wheels I have a 2019 all black Yukon
Great video Phil, packed with a lot of helpful info!
Thanks man!
Excellent. Thanks. The Woolies are the way to go.
A few coats of FK1000p works wonders and makes cleaning the wheels a breeze. The sprays are easier, though
Excellent video. Good info.
Thank you 😊 🙏🏽 My wheels are gloss black and I use a wheel barrel brush and a dedicated wash mitt to cleans wheels. I haven't glossed them up yet, but I will. Great video ❤
You're welcome!
Good evening. Always a great pleasure to watch your videos. Very professional .. Thanks for the advice
Thank you so much!
Super tutorial Phil !!
Thanks Pan! Now I need to enjoy your Relaxing Detailing video!
Yup/let's go ahead "AND START THE SHOW"
Great video Phil👍
Great video 👍🏼
Great video man! Those wheels looked initially coated which is great. I do the same, I hit them with snow-foam for extra lubricity. Might try that wheel woolie
Thanks! 😎👍🏼
Great video! Only one of its kind on RUclips.
Thank you!
Nice video, Phil, and a great tip. I hope you and your wife are healthy and safe.
Thanks! Yes we are! So far..being very careful and selective. We are still working but at least we can have zero contact with customers.
Great video. Learning a lot from your channel. Cleaned my black wheels a couple of days ago. With all of this staying at home, I’ve had some time to experiment. My truck was used when I bought it, and the wheels have scratches on them. After washing and drying, I polished the black with hs black acrylic ceramic polish, used hs black spray wax, then came back a while later, spritzed them with water, and used hs ceramic wet wax and dried them. Still have some scratches, but they shined up great. I also use ceramic wet wax on my wife’s dark gray wheels...good stuff
Awesome! Yeah Black gloss wheels can be polished to really make them pop!
Next step...to look in on those wheel woolies. Would make it things a lot easier. Thanks for the reply. Great video. Coming from a teacher, I really enjoy learning and think you do a good job of teaching and demonstrating products.
Thank you so much! I try my best!
@@mattjohnson-ahs9173 old thread but for anyone else in your situation, after the cleaning and prep work is done, I would use mcguirs polish wax to remove any fine swirls or heavy water spots, then use any friendly car wax to protect it from further sun damage or fading… I do this pre summer and pre rainy season…. (We in end of July and about to do it again with my new black wheels)
Nice video best channel on RUclips by far
Wow! Thank so you much!
Very helpful, thank you. How that I know how to clean them. Is there anything we can do to help keep them clean and also protect them? Wax? Ceramic coating?
You’re welcome! Oh yeah you can totally. Use what ever wax or sealant on them and even coat the faces with a ceramic coating like this bit.ly/3s1UGON
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
Any suggestions for Matte Black finish on wheels in regards to products after I had done the foam, remove the break, dust, etc.…? Thanks so much and great video.
Hi. I would use this. bit.ly/3TknvFZ
It’s great for paint trim and matte surfaces.
@@MirandaDetailingthank you so much!!!!!
Great Video Phillip!! Are These Brushes Also Safe On OEM Chrome Rims As Well?.. I Would Also Love To Get Some of those Work Stuff Brushes for interior and Exterior Use!!👍
Thanks! Totally! The work stuff brushes come in different grades of softness. The white and orange ones are the softest.
@@MirandaDetailing Thank you Phillip!! I Appreciate it!!
Hi Phil, thanks for the advice mate. I have a question for you. I have 19" wheels and huge breaks on my BMW M4. They also have a stupid aluminum gard that goes round the disks. This makes a very very narrow gap between my wheel and breaks. What would you recommend? I've thought about the wheel woolys, but I bought a Gyeon version and even the smallest one is too big. Thanks in advance!!
Hi
I also use this little EZ detail brush bit.ly/34aiLaz it does a good job at getting into those areas.
Also a good way to get to the entire inside barrel is to jack up the vehicle just slightly to be able to turn the wheel and get everything. It's not very convenient especially for us mobile detailers, but it does work.
Phil, great job as always! Quick question, what’s the difference between the Color Crush and Slam?
Thanks. Color crush is a Sio2 spray quick detailer. Slam is more concentrated and it considered a Sio2 spray coating.
Both are awesome!
Thanks Phil. Last question, would they both be the same as using TW Ceramic 3 in 1 Detail spray and there Ceramic Spray? If so, in your opinion which is better?
yes exactly!
What are your thoughts on acid cleaners in this case? We both share the same sentiment that things need to be fast and efficient. For me an acid cleaner on such a painted wheel is great, as there's minimal contact that can scratch and the activation process itself from I spray on to the agitation to the rinse is super fast for me. Also, a product like Meguiar's Wheel Brightener is really cheap when the dilution is taken into account, at least where I am.
Just interested in learning where you guys stand on this point?🙂
Yeah I do use Megs Wheel Brightener when its needed. Its such a strong cleaner I only use it when necessary. Even with Wheel Brightener some wheels need lots of agitation. We did some wheels today, regular silver clear coat wheels that had years of baked on dust. needed wheel brightener and lots of agitating to get them clean.
What about a more matte type finish? My wheels are black but not glossy at all. Paint is matte and wheels have a similar look. 21 inches with enormous disk brakes (AMG GT63s). So dust is really difficult to manage.
Hi. You can definitely clean them the same way. I would also ceramic coat them inside and out to make it super easy to clean. Check this out. ruclips.net/video/OmGXY31dXsc/видео.html
I have a question here I have black gloss Wheels I haven't been doing these methods at all but I noticed lately there's thick type of brake dust residue on these wheels lately and some water spots if I do everything in this video will that get rid of it or do you recommend something else definitely don't want to ruin them
my usual way of doing it is just cleaning them real quick with a wash mitt and then drying them with a microfiber towel
Hi. If you start to have a build up of brake dust you will have to use a proper wheel cleaner. either a high ph cleaner bit.ly/3cdtuJY or an iron remover wheel cleaner bit.ly/3PNKFzG Each Situation is different but start with these methods and cleaners and it should help.
What kind of brush is that you used for the tire dressing?
Hi. its this one. amzn.to/3Lg5kdG
Brush to apply the tire shine is not available can you suggest something similar
amzn.to/3FSDunC
Best of all those MF style woolies have no sling back as you pull it out! The one that attaches to drill is another tool to use, I am impressed. For those tight spots using the 12-inch has a smaller head.
That’s true!!
Will an EZ DETAIL brush scrach the rims?
I Haven't seen it cause any scratches, i think if you use it with plenty of soapy foam it adds lots of lubrication and it should be fine.
Do you use any specific wheel cleaner or just car soap?
I have a few wheel cleaners we use if they are really bad. But I use the soap foam to add lubrication and cushion when clean wheels.
Can you use a fallout on black alloys
Yeah you can. It’s safe to use on all wheels.
You can use a spray detailer for the protection? Like same as an interior detail spray?
Hi. Do you mean using an interior detailer for the exterior on wheels? If so no, use an exterior paint detailer spray on the wheels.
@@MirandaDetailing got it thanks. I just detailed a toyota corola with black rims and they are really faded. Not sure why but I tried bead maker and it didn’t help. Any suggestions?
You can also use a polish and hand polish them. Use something like 3DSpeed and a microfiber applicator and hand polish them.
@@MirandaDetailing thank you sir 🙏🏻
Sorry if it’s a dumb question and I know it was answered in the video, but what can I use to spray on the wheels when I’m drying them? (So they’re not dry and it doesn’t scratch the black)
Hi. That’s a great question. If you use a spray and rinse product like this bit.ly/32rd77K
You just spray, rinse and blow dry and maybe touch up with a towel and it seals them in for a few months.
ruclips.net/video/Dp-FQM_knNA/видео.html
@@MirandaDetailing Would I be able to use a spray wax that’s used for the car paint on my rims?
Also, thank you for the response! It’s much appreciated.
Certainly! Any spray wax or sealant you can use on the paint will work on those gloss wheels.
@@MirandaDetailing thank you sir! 🙏🏽
Do you have any product/brand recommendations you might offer?
Something simple like Bead Maker or Tech choice would work great.
Where are all the links to the products you just used? Thank you

Can the fabric be removed from the wheel woolies in order to wash them in the washing machine? Assuming they can be, can replacement fabric be purchased? Is the material on them microfiber?
Hi. So these wheels whoolies you can’t replace them. But these you can www.carsupplieswarehouse.com/products/autofiber-barrel-blade-wheel-brush?_pos=11&_sid=9e4894381&_ss=r

@@MirandaDetailing okay, thanks
Does the Hyper Dressing last longer undiluted?
Yeah it does last a little longer. Water based dressings only last until it rains though.
HOW DO I REMOVE SCRATCHES FROM THE CAR WASH CARBIDE BRUSHES? IVE TRIED EVERYTHING.
Are your wheels scratched up from car washes? Is that why you’re asking?
nice video brother do blacj wheel scratch easily ?
Hi. Yeah they do. If cleaned to aggressively they will get really scratched and look horrible.
@@MirandaDetailing oh really i am planing to buy a rim what is your advice best rim for me i dont want to buy black rim now😅
@jesusisoursavior2682 I would have them professionally ceramic coated because it will make them very easy to clean without using aggressive methods. Use the same tools and methods as we should in the video and you be happy! 😎👍🏼
@@MirandaDetailing i mean what color of rim you suggest is it more good on aloy wheel ir stainless
Oh that’s up to you. I can’t make that decision since it’s up to your personal preference. I personally like regular silver painted wheels. But that’s just me.
Isn't it harmful to the rotors and brake pads though?
You mean to clean them? Nope, just the opposite, a buildup of brake dust will corrode the areas faster.
Here's a stupid question. Do I wash the car first or clean the rims.
I have a video on that.
ruclips.net/video/m5eMj992cYY/видео.html
Thank you so much just watched the video. Lot of good advice. Keep up the good work 😁
Wait, not hating, but did u just spray silicone all over your rotors? 😬
What do you mean?
I’m about 6 months late to this video😢
No worries! It’s always here for ya! 😎👍🏼
You didn't use any wheel cleaners. In your professional opinion is it really possible to effectively clean wheels with just wash soap? Because I like using as little chemicals as necessary.
Hi. Each situation is different, if the wheels are in good shape and need very little cleaning, the soap alone will get the job done, especially on delicate black wheels like these. All soaps whether ph neutral or higher alkaline have surfactants that actually clean, they break down dirt and grime and lift it away. Stronger wheel cleaners may be used only if they wheels really need it. 😎👍
So in the event that you had to clean the same wheels and they were covered in heavy grime and caked on brake dust how would you approach cleaning them then?
I would use a cleaner like Extra tough, super Clean, or any other APC/degreaser first. Then if needed an iron remover wheel cleaner like Megs iron decon bit.ly/3q70Snu
APC or degeaser diluted at what?
10:1 for light cleaning and 4:1 for heavy.
damn, gloss black wheels are so high maintenance, i'm sick of mine
Yup, they can be a pain
