And that right there is why Dawson and Joey, didn't compare to Pacey and Joey.
Dawson wanted what made him happy and being with Joey made him happy. Whereas Pacey wanted Joey to be happy in whatever she did and with whom ever she wanted to be with. That was the difference between the two young men. Pacey all the way for me...❤
Actually, Dawson basically told Joey in the end the same thing Pacey did that she was off the hook and it didn't matter who she chose they still will remain friends in the end. The Creek is really just a reference for Joey having to choose between Dawson and Pacey. When they both took the pressure off her, she choose Dawson as her best friend and Pacey as her true love. They all remained friends in the end and that was the point of it all. James was Team Pacey. Kevin Williamson, the show creator who left the show in Season 2 to work on the Scream horror movies, was Team Dawson until he looked at the progression of the show from Season 3 to 6 and realized the love story shifted from Dawson and Joey to Pacey and Joey and rewrote the end where Pacey, the guy everyone wrote off as a loser and failure at life, wins the girl while having his best friend back.
Her being with Pacey was for the best, not just for her but for everyone. I am not Dawson Hater, but he was always better to off single. He was more likable when he wasn't involved with the love triangle, and his focus is making movies. Dawson's true love was film. Joey's dreams were in NY while Dawson's dreams were in LA. If Joey pick Dawson, one of them have to give up their dream, which can lead both of them beinf unhappy. Pacey true love was Joey. He will drop everything if it means being with Joey. They dont have to give up their goals or dreams to be with each other. Pacey can easily manage a restaurant in NY. At the end, everyone is happy. Joey is living the life she always dream of in New York with Pacey by her side. They r both supporting each other. While Dawson even if he is single but he is happy. He finally had achieved his dream working in film and meeting his idol Steven Spielberg.
I actually liked Dawson with Jen or Gretchen better than Joey. Joey and him were always great friends. Joey and Pacey made more sense as a couple and it was never forced between them. Joey and Dawson as a couple is too forced.
Wow...I thought I was the only person who feels that Dawson and Gretchen should have been Endgame. ...Hey Kevin Williamson if you're listening A reunion where it's Dawson's wedding to Gretchen would be amazing. JJ recently said, he could imagine that Joey and Pacey are still in love and happily married with Children. Joey as Best Woman and Pacey giving the bride away or Man of Honor would be very fitting 😊
Well, you're right. I didn't say that when they was dated, they just we're a couple for a while. And I think that's why they play so well. They had to remember only I think, because if you we're in love with somebody, and you had the chemistry, you never forget it :)

Just when they said they loved each other on 2nd season she broke up with Dawson and pursued Jack. Still deep down Dawson and joey cared about each other and were soulmates. Joey would’ve even made her career in Los Angeles, she’s a bright woman and she could’ve made her career anywhere in the world even in LA.

the right couple ended up together pacey and joey those other primetime soap or high school/college drama shows some of the couples don't end up with the right person
Terrible ending. Joey's speech made no sense when said to Pacey, since she was always going back to him or some carbon copy with the same personality and the same dynamic as they had. The show never gave D & J any real shot, or redemption at any point and the writing just got worse, simpler and stupider with time. Joey was an awful, neurotic person so maybe it was for the best in terms of what the characters actually deserved, but it still made no sense. It was true tv writing, for the lowest common denominator. It has taken me decades to get through this mess of a show, and I was left disappointed, like I expected after season 2 or 3.
