Both are awesome. I know you are going to get criticism for the Wrist Candy pitch...but I really appreciate that you got viewers a discount - Thank you for another great video :)
If Hamilton fixed their Khaki WR failure problems (Have they? I wonder how I can know for sure one day.) and start applying some decent lume, then I'd definitely buy one.
4:07 Not only 7s26 can go backwards then! 😆 Hard choice would probably go for Boldr if going hiking/camping but for general outdoor use definitely Hamilton: super slim, great size, classic design and I would love a manual wind watch.
Two very nice watches. But any outdoor adventures would likely be best served by a Casio digital watch. If hiking through uneven terrain, like Big Bear area, a watch with an altimeter might be handy.
Am I seeing things or was the second hand spinning backward on the BLDR at 4:07? Probably just a better shot during edit but damn did that confuse me (admittedly not a tough thing to do).
I began to appreciate thin wrist watches, especially since i use a backpack daily. During winter, when my watch is tucked away under my coat, thickness is no problem. But short sleeve during summer time taught me that "bold" watch cases snag a lot on my backpack... and that annoys me. So, winter time? I'm actually sold on the Boldr Expedition. Love the dual color lume scheme and overall appearance of the dial. But as soon as it warms up just enough to wear a thin long sleeve or short sleeve... it would be Hamilton all the way, no question about it.
The Hamilton gets my nod. The history of the Brand and the watch is far more special to me. As a special note, all watches with analog hands can be used as a compass. Cheers
I just had an exchange with Boldr. The Everest is sold out and they are discontinuing the Expedition series will be discontinued as they are redesigning the line
I am loving my Hamilton Khaki Mechanical watch (shown in this vid). I like the date delete so I don't have to deal with adjusting dates. It's simple and elegant. Only thing I would have wanted was a hacking feature for second hand to make the time more accurate.
I’m on the fence, Jory. I feel like the Khaki is a watch lovers/collectors watch. Raw, largely unchanged, minimal. I want one just for that. It’s a timeless design and reliable. But BOLDR is a really well-respected brand with some fantastic pieces that run the spectrum of price and functional needs! I guess the real answer of which is better is, as you suggested, is up to the user. Great video. Great watches. 🙏
Loved your review of the Boldr Expedition and tried to get an Everest but they are sold out everywhere in Europe, even your shop - managed to get a Boldr Expeition Kilimanjaro which is total black on black, and I think cooler - so placed an order for it - thanks for the intro to Boldr - look s like a cool bit of kit
They're both beautiful watches, but this Boldr is very modern and after this episode it's actually in my wishlist! I wait for the full review of this watch.
A screw down crown doesn't automatically improve water resistance. Oris makes a screw down crown dive watch with only 100m water resistance. So does Hamilton. I don't see why a field watch needs one.
@@madanotsob It is not so much improving the depth rating it simply assures a solid closure. The Hamiltons are known for leaking, I owned the Khaki Auto, and I sold it because of this, it is a deal breaker for me, if it does not bother you, great.
In spite of the functionality the Boldr has, it's too big IMHO. Too large, too high. I'm with the Hammy on this one ! (typing this comment with my brown Hammy on my wrist :P )
I don't mind the diameter so much, would prefer it to be smaller. But that thickness is excessive. Ad the height of a NATO and you have a real chunk protruding from your wrist.
@@Tdfcjc808 I guess it depends on your wrist size and your preferences, but I'm generally quite conservative when it comes to size. Except a new Seiko Samurai (44mm), all my watches are 40 mm or less, with 38 - 39 as my sweet spot.
The Boldr in auto is a ton more intriguing that their quartz watches. Have fun with the watch & Connie; and enjoy Big Bear. Try the Teddy Bear Restaraunt or the Oakside while you’re there; great grub, won’t break the bank either!
I would take the 38mm mountaineer explorer watch in your collection.... The Seiko SARB017, Alpinist. Smaller case, sapphire crystal, 200 meter water resistance, inner rotating bezel for compass... Best features of your two considerations.
What is an ETA movement? im sure i can google this, but i still feel like asking you. Im new to this and some specs you mention i have no idea what they are. I dont know if you have made a video in the past going over all the 'watch talk' terms that watch enthusiasts use to get the point across. All in all, love your videos man.
Three times I've backed out of buying a Hamilton Khaki King at a big discount, the main reason being I like the Boldr a little bit more, especially the Fuji model (as I climbed it). I'm just waiting (hoping) for it to be discounted at some point this year.
Nice watches. I have the Black Khaki Field with Date and the Bold Expedition Eiger with White Full Lume Dial. The Expedition would be a better choice beacause of the 200m wr and it’s automatic.
Hammy is nicer, cooler & more of a collection piece, the Boldr is much more practical & useful. Both sweet watches, but the Boldr would be my choice to use, tho I'll be saving for the Hamilton 😉👍⌚
You know I want the Hamilton khaki more for daily, but I walk my dog late at night and might have to get the full lume boldr expedition. I wish the boldr was smaller! because I like the dial
Do people compare the Bolder to the Hammy hand wind just so they can sniff at the 50m wr? If that bothers you, then compare to the Hammy auto with 100m.
Exposed to the harsh elements? You and Connie already sound like your married? Hahaha! Just kidding, I’m sure you had a awesome trip, because I just can’t see someone with your personality having a bad time anywhere. I envy your great attitude towards everything. And yes to the Boldr! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I've had my eye on the Boldr, I like the compass bezel but I agree with others here that it's a little too thick and bulky. Especially next to the Hamilton. Oh and I wish you wouldn't move the watches so much when you talk it makes them hard to see!
CORRECTION: The Hammy is a reissue of what they issued the US Army from the late sixties to the early eighties. So, no WW2 achievements for this one. "Only" Vietnam war ones !
I love the Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical simply because I have it. It works fantastic for the past 3 months that I have had it. The Nato band that came with the watch is ok depending on how I dress. Don’t like Nato bands because from my eyes it diminishes the value of the watch. Thicker bands like leather or other more elaborate designed material brings out more of the watch. Nato bands 👎👎👎.
You can't knock the Hamilton for not having a threaded crown. Manual-wind watches rarely have threaded crowns, because they constantly need to be taken out to wind the watch, which quickly wears down the threading.
I love this channel!

4:10 the second hand is running backwards. It T3 time machine.
😂😎 Good eye! 🕵🏻♂️
Why is it running backwards?
Editing.
Looked really wierd
I noticed that too! I was like wtf!?
Good choice on the bolder, personally I don’t need the compass plus I like the thinner Hammie.
I got the Everest; the lume is crazy good. I have no idea why they would redesign. Love it. But still want Hamilton too.
Orient defender....awesome watch for price...steel case. Automatic movement . Day- date complication. 24 hs indicaitor...and 100 wr .
Pablo Morresi I just looked it up; that’s a nice watch! It’s large, though! How does it wear?
@@chriscon8463 It wears pretty sweet and I have girly wrists. I had an issue with my first one, but the replacement is spot on.
I own the Boldr Expedition White Sands, I wanted one like yours but they don't issue it anymore so I settled for the White Sands. I really like it.
They’re both great watches! I love all the history associated with the Hamilton. I’ll pick one up sooner or later!

Love these comparison battles. I was going to go Hamilton but that Expedition! Cool intro, Good Sir.
Digging the new intro my friend. Great content as always!
Love the Hamilton, but the screw down crown on the Boldr puts it over the top. Why oh why does a field watch NOT have a screw down crown?
Because it's a manual wind I guess.
@@logannewcome good point, but even their automatic Khaki does not have a screw down crown

hi could you kindly tell me if this watch (Boldr Expedition) fits well for a 7 inch wrist? (actually a little less about 6.70 inch)
That Hamilton is the watch I always want to buy but never will due to the 50wr. I’ll just stick to my Alpinist on a jubilee bracelet

I wouldn’t.
Yup Boldr! And btw I’ve heard and seen on RUclips some. Egatives on the Hammie movement breaking upon winding!? Have you heard this ?

Yes, seconds hand running backwards at about 4:15.
Why did I start collecting watches 🤦♂️?
I need one of each now.
Where's the EDC video in the description?
The slimness of the Hamilton with manual movement becomes moot if you put it on a nato strap that adds 5 mm to it!
Dean Susec what nato do you wear that is 2.5 mm thick?
Seiko 5 field watch
Give Boldr a try!
Boldr....excited
For harsh environments, take neither and go with a Manchester Watch Works Rattler watch instead.
