    I love this set! It has so many different and bright illustrative colors, and the way you used them in that drawing is wonderful! Really like how the reds and grays and brown worked together, and those details are so fun! Tell your S.O. their drawings are beautiful, and you two make an excellent art team!

    This was so much fun to watch! Thank you so much for mentioning my video. It's interesting to see how the rest of the palette looks, as I only made three of the 24 colours. Do you think it's a good all-rounder palettes?

    Lovely pallet of colors. Your significant other is very talented and did a fantastic sketch. Thank you for sharing this Eve. 💞💫

    Toujours important de supporter les artistes sur youtube, et pour moi encore plus ceux du Quebec, il n'y en a pas beaucoup! J'adore tes vidéos et ton art! You go girl! :-)

    It's a pretty and vibrant palette. I never would have thought to put it together like that, but it's so nice. The different palettes show so clearly the likes and dislikes of an artist and I love, how individual they all are. :) Thanks for trying this one out!

    Does anyone know if they still sell this in the museum? Planning to go to Japan within the next 3 months

    What a fabulous study and exploration into how another artist might think and use their skills! Well done! Loved this and how you separated the armor! Very well done! :)

    This was incredibly cool! It's so interesting to see the Miyazaki palette after hearing so much about it since I started working in watercolour. It was also very awesome to see you paint your significant other's art! The character design is fantastic and looks so lovely painted by you.

    Neat palette. I saw the other videos as well. I might try this range but with my M Graham and Winsor&Newton paints instead, since those are more affordable to me. I have quite a few of the colors, and can probably mix the rest. I always loved Studio Ghibli's films. I need to watch Kiki's Delivery service again for the first time in ages. And Spirited Away. Since I don't do Cadmiums, I could use colors similar at least :) I loved the illustrations from your significant other. The Miyazaki set of paints really does suit character illustrations well.

    I'm so curious while watching this. I would love to try HIS paints someday and see if it would work for me. The blues are definitely up my alley

    I've seen Mateusz's video, it was really interesting so for a Ghibli fan. Seeing Oto's and your video has made me think more about holbein. I've always been intrigued about the holbein metal palette but never seen it for sale in the UK, perhaps I'll give it a miss if it's expensive and poor quality.

    Very nice! I made a DIY Miyazaki palette on my channel about six months ago after seeing Mat-Urb’s (I can’t spell his name for the life of me)😆 remake video. I just a small set of Holbein paints, so I made my palette with Neocolor II paints 💕- thanks for sharing 🤗 -Faith

    That colours in this palette looks very exciting to use. I have a large knock-off version of this Holbein palette that holds 36 colours. I keep my Mission Gold Pure Pigment set in it and have had it for about 2 years now. To keep your mind at ease it hasn't shown any signs of rusting yet.

    Yesssssss. I've been waiting for this video ever since I saw you in the comments of Mateusz's video! Did Oto's video seal the deal on wanting to make it? Mr. E's art seems perfect for this kind of palette. I would love to see an illustration from you for this palette too! ❤️

    Great video Eve. I don't know the artist, film director whose palette you are sharing, but I certainly loved your demo and review of the Holbein metal palette. Awesome drawing by your 'significant other' - beautifully separated armour!

    I love the drawing and how you painted it. On Amazon you can find cheaper versions of the Holbein palette that are pretty good too.

    What a fun selection of colors! :D
    I admit, I'm a bit of a blue fanatic myself. :P I just set up a palette which I've been using exclusively since setting it up with M Graham colors. It has three yellows, two reds, one purple, four blues, and two greens. Luckily, my palette has about six more empty wells, so I can expand it if I find that I need more options. But I've been finding it to be quite versatile so far. ^^
    Anyway, I loved seeing how you set everything up. It's so cool that many people have been working on ways to recreate this palette. It seems like the process went pretty smoothly for you! :)
    Also, I popped over to Instagram and was SO impressed by both the quantity and quality of your otter's work! It was such a joy to see. I hope there are more collabs, when time allows. :)
    Thanks very much for this lovely video, and I look forward to seeing more from this palette! :)

    • @EveBolt
      @EveBolt  6 лет назад +1

      Your palette sounds lovely! Both the colors and the fact that it's M.Graham paints! ♥
      It was fairly easy for me to reproduce this palette, as Mateusz and Oto have done the bulk of the work for me (I'm forever thankful, as I don't read or speak Japanese, it would've been near-impossible for me to figure this out without their help!).
      I keep poking the otter to draw more things for me to paint and he's slowly getting around to it (he has never really drawn on watercolor paper so it's a bit weird for him!). I'll pass along the kind words and praise! Thank you very much!

      I got mine from Ebay, but I think that since then it has been made impossible to buy Holbein products on Ebay (at least, for Canada). You could check if Amazon Japan has the palettes and if they ship to you!

    Thanks. I notice that several paints contain 'thalo' pigments, but there are no single pigment thalo paints. Considered too powerful to appear on their own, perhaps?

    I love the look- intuitively of that palette! It appears very well rounded for any subject or mood. I must research the Artist now. I am wanting an empty 48 half pan tin so much for my 3 Prima (getting "Woodlands" soon,) and JD Brights palettes. I think maybe putting those under one roof might be helpful because they are my everyday paints. I have Artist grade that I am using for larger projects, and the future. Holbein makes lovely gouache, I did purchase the 18. And I just bought "Shell Pink," which I should have researched before buying. Do you use the color?

  • @bastet469
    @bastet469 6 лет назад

    I'm also a little surprised that there aren't more reds and especially violets. I would think that anime artists would use a lot of violets because of the fantasy nature of their work.

    This is so awesome, I've always wanted to try this palette... They do sell a 'revisited' version in the Studio Ghibli Museum in Japan, but unfortunately I don't have anyone stationed there that can send it to me (and they don't have an online shop to ship it) so I'll have to wait until I'll have a holiday there. I'm also trying to resist buying more watercolors, even though it's hard... I've already eyed another 'cheap' brand on Aliexpress and I've been mooning over it for a couple of weeks. T_T

    • @EveBolt
      @EveBolt  6 лет назад +1

      The revisited palette would sell like hotcakes if it was available online!! The good side of waiting to visit to acquire the palette is that it would make it a super nice travel souvenir to bring back. :)
      And I'm curious; what is the "cheap" brand you've been eyeing? I lurk around Aliexpress a lot too XD

    • @KarijnsWatercolors
      @KarijnsWatercolors 6 лет назад

      It would definitely be an awesome souvenir, also in Japan Holbein paints are... Awfully cheap. I've compared the price of the 30 tubes set on my Amazon and then on Amazon.jp, they have almost a 40% price difference. I hate import taxes sometimes. =3=
      And lately it has been hard because it seems everyone purchases the same palette and then re-brands it in their name. The Bianyo one I have, now it has seven different names, so it's a bit hard to find truly 'new' watercolor paints, you only risk purchasing the same palette. (For example, I've seen a review with the Derwent Watercolor Travel palette, and it looks very, very close to a Sakura Koi set. That, plus I have no idea if those are proper pans or if they just used their Inktense blocks' preparation and made pans.)
      Anyway, the one I've seen also has an interesting tin. I've found it under the name BGLN (it's the cheaper one) but it's one with the 'Pretty Excellent' Ara Macao. That catchfrase just makes me laugh, I don't know why. Here's the link to the cheapest one I could find: it.aliexpress.com/item/-/32852563501.html?spm=a2g0s.8937460.0.0.qDgpet
      But this month I spent two thirds of my pay on mandatory retirement insurance (don't ask), my car which is still broken and the yearly Med Order tax so... I'm counting pennies on groceries until the new month comes.

      Karijn's Watercolors because you have a problem with repeats: you will probably find Paul Rubens and pretty excellent very similar. They are the student grade of Paul Rubens

  • @FayeWulf
    @FayeWulf 6 лет назад +1

    Like you, I would have expected better quality from such an expensive palette... especially when it is made to be used with water - rusting should not be there AT ALL.
    I'm still sad that those discontinued colours are ... gone. Im sure there must have been a reason but those colours are just too beautiful.

  • @bastet469
    @bastet469 6 лет назад +1

    Seems like an awfully big palette. How many are single pigment colors?

    • @EveBolt
      @EveBolt  6 лет назад +1

      It's not so bad, 24 colors is still a fairly decent number of colors :)
      Nine are single pigment, seven are made from two pigments, and the rest is three pigments or more.

    • @bastet469
      @bastet469 6 лет назад

      Eve Bolt - Bolt's Vault I refuse to buy mixes because I'm cheap. Lol. I'll just mix up a batch myself, if I really want it. But with some colors you have no choice because the pigments being used are unavailable to consumers. So in that case, I'll make an exception.

    that's really weird about the palette. i have the smaller size and it's really cleanly made :/ don't you think you got a flawed product? or maybe i was just a lucky one....

    • @EveBolt

      I have quite a few of these and I've had chipped enamel on all of them, so I don't know. I tried writing to American Holbein and got no replies. I'm glad you got a nice one though! :D

      then maybe it's due to the fact i bought it in japan, sometimes the products are better made for the japanese than those products made to distribute out of japan. I've noticed that in some of their products.
