      I found this video while learning the guitar part of this song, and he's actually playing a very minimized version of the guitar melody, which when anchored to the vocal melody gives the impression of the full guitar bit to a listener who is familiar with the song. The playing is fantastic but the skill in creating the arrangement is also extremely impressive!

    So often guitar players with this skill level can turn off their audience, because the technicality overcomes the melody. This is on another level though - I’m in awe of the skill, but still get a beautiful and recognisable melody, harmonies and rhythm. It’s simply incredible!

      Is this not something you're just projecting on to everyone else? I've never once heard of guitar players "turning off their audience" because they're too technical. I think that might just be your problem.

    • @iroulis

      @@popcorns6472 It is and it isn't. It takes two to tango. A perfomer needs an audience to complete his performance. No it's not a projection: It's something like ruclips.net/video/eg16mepPImk/видео.html It's hokey.

      @boyanwawa
      And that is the case of any musician. I knew a man that couldn't sing at all. He was simply not able to hit a correct note. When he sang it didn't sound musical and you could hardly recognize the melody. He could play the guitar to a certain degree normally and could accompany his singing with the guitar. One day I sat on cobblestones with friends at a public place in a circle and sang songs to my guitar. Then this friend of mine came and wanted to sing. I gave him my guitar and he sung one of his favourite songs. The melody was hardly recognizable. It sounded more like speaking than singing. And the song he sang if I remember correctly was a long one around 8 minutes long with around 5 verses and chorus in between. He sang the whole song and no one interrupted him and anyone just listened and enjoyed because he was enjoying it. Although from a musical standpoint it was rather sung awefully and yet it was a great experience and a great lesson for me. Because he sang the song with such a passion that you could feel it that he wanted to pass on a message and he did. If I remember it correctly it was the song American pie by Don Mclean which is one of my favourite songs and that also always had a deep and highly spiritual and religious meaning to me. The lesson that I learned from my friend was that you don't need an extraordinary musical talent in order to express your soul and to be able to pass on the passion that is woven into a song. Since that day I listened to anyone that sang because I wasn't interested anymore in the quality of the performance but I tried to sense and feel from which place in the soul the voice and emotions came from.
      Otherwise great comment. My comment's essence is basically the same as yours just highlighted from my personal experience.

      @@peternemeth1777 Thank you for sharing the story! This is exactly what I mean. Although the techniques and musical skills are important, playing or singing without souls is like something created by machines. It’s musically perfect, but that’s not what we are created for. We are meant to play and sing differently due to our different stories and lives, and that’s what makes music so special to listen to. I can relate to your story. In fact that’s my motivation of playing music, cause I know I’m not perfect but I truly enjoy making music. People seem to see music as competitions nowadays, always compare with each other technically. The purposes of making music are no longer the same.

      Yes. Not sing OVER, but a duet. Kent can swap playing 2nd voice/harmony instead of the main melody (1st voice), or Norah can sing 2nd voice or change throughout the song.

      @@lashlarue7924 I'm not gonna argue with you. No reason to get so defensive. He is clearly still very talented. I'm not trying to bash him. Its multiple tracks. There are percussive sounds that simply arent made by the way he is playing. There are mutes, string hits, body hits that are heard and have consistent levels and hes just not doing it in the footage. Everything you are hearing is not being played at the same time. At least not on all his videos.
      If you wanna think hes playing everything in one take in all those videos, have at it. He is not. It's still impressive, but I'm not arguing it further.
