    Problem is, it's hard to control how long I actually fall asleep. It takes a while to fall asleep. An alarm clock set to ring 40 minutes might actually mean I fell asleep after 20 minutes and only got 20 minutes of sleep. And how fast it takes to sleep for me varies a lot.

      power naps work best when you do regularly. try it once a day or two for a week or two and then your body will know it only has ''that amount of time'' to sleep and will then fall asleep faster and get faster to the REM state. Ive been told by many people that its possible to reach REM in 20min naps if you train for it

    • @guardian13angel06
      @guardian13angel06 5 лет назад +2

      And 20 minutes is still a good nap, like they said in the video. You don't want to go over 30 minutes.

      I have the same issue, and the way I do it is to just set a 25 min timer anyway. If I fall asleep fast, good. If I couldn't, then closing my eyes and relaxing is good enough. As a bonus, you tend to sleep easier if you're not worried about falling asleep.

    I don't understand how some people can just choose to take a nap or go to bed. It doesn't work that way for me. And when I am tired enough to take a nap, I can never get up when I wanted to and sometimes end up sleeping all afternoon, then I'm up all night. Fucking sleep!

      As a university student who naps almost every day, I can say this:
      I've never napped if I'm not feeling tired. I'll continue to study if I'm a 5, but I probably couldn't fall asleep if I'm a 4. I'll usually just try study on until I'm like a 3 and then I'll sleep at the table, which is usually 10~15 minutes. If I sleep in my bed I'll sleep for hours, and that's what you don't want.

    • @mrvk699
      @mrvk699 9 лет назад

      Power naps have been working for me 😁

    But the problem is that I never know how much time it's going to take me to fall asleep. Sometimes I put my alarm on 20 minutes, but it takes me 15 minutes to fall asleep and when it goes off I'm twice as groggy as I was before.

    • @pietro4321
      @pietro4321 9 лет назад +14

      +Myriam EH I used to be of the same opinion, and you know what? It's not paramount that you fall asleep at all! I'm on holiday right now and I'm taking power naps everyday: I set my alarm to go off in 20 minutes and just lie on my sofa and relax myself: most of the time I don't "fall asleep", but I wake up totally refreshed and relaxed nonetheless!

      Kaian77 What I was saying was a bit deeper than I have time for but in general I was just saying science will probably have a pill to help those who struggle napping for better labor results out of us soon enough.
      That's another problem for science to solve. Then I would start talking about the Beast system in Revelations and a big thing about lucifarian elite and it'd all tie back into the reality of our lives right now and Jesus Christ / yashua / Yahushua our redeemer and savior and our creator God or the only truly LIVING WORD on the planet will be the connecting factor to it all.
      But hey. Ain't nobody care about that!

    This video singlehandedly changed my life when I first saw it a few years back. I come back to it now to give it it's proper accolades. I keep my power naps between 10 and 30 minutes using my phone's timer, usually ballparked around 20-25 minutes, and it just helps! It's so simple and brilliant. I love it.

      They may know the obvious. That science is being used to seperate the people from they're loved ones and love from within the people. So as to make it easier to succeed at enslaving the world population.
      Eugenics agenda is real and God is real.
      The agenda to control our (the peoples) minds is very real and happening as we think and text right now.
      And they record every interaction we have and every search we do and every vid we pursue ect.. to one day use against and help enslave us after all the distractions that come with. This is open exposed truth.
      We are being dumbed down into minion. And the minion are made fun of by the elite and they program you to make fun of God for them as they serve a Lucifarianism faith.
      The destruction of the family agenda is way real and started legally in 1973 with Row vs Wade being capitalized on for the agenda. Later the woman tried to sue the government for using her trial to push their world stage antichrist agenda. Their agenda is in the words of Freemasons

    My newest Granddaughter has taught me this. I call them "Rory" naps. ;) I found that I was napping while she did and I felt more energized when I woke. But, going longer than an hour and it seemed to be much harder to wake. This reminded me of when I was a Firefighter and we had "sleeper duty". If I had been asleep for more than an hour and less than three when the alarm went off, I might not totally wake up until we got to the scene. I woke up once standing on the back of the truck next to a fellow firefighter that had actually tied me to the hand rail! :D

    ASAP Science, I have a question about your video. In this video, you explain how Napping will leave you feeling more energized. However, in your other video, about the snooze button, You ARE waking up, and then going back to sleep for about 10 minutes. However, in this video you are saying that is Beneficial. While in the video you were talking about the snooze button is, You explained how it wasn't. Is there a reason for this? like a nap after the first hour of waking up isn't beneficial?

    • @lorettaschulte
      @lorettaschulte 6 лет назад

      I just wondered the exact same thing. Could it be that after waking up from a deep sleep, snoozing, and falling asleep again, the brain sends out additional neurotransmitters (on top of the sleepy brain we already woke up with), that make you feel extra groggy when you wake up? Just an idea, no scientific facts behind it...

One at 6 which is when I wake up and one that I set to usually between 1:30 and 3:00 am just so I can wake up and be like "YES I STILL HAVE A FEW MORE HOURS OF SLEEP" and then fall asleep again (I keep changing the time so my body won't get used to the time and I can still fall asleep after I wake up) Is that bad for me /will it affect my sleep at all? will it reset my sleep cycle?

      +MegaMrFroggy I heard somewhere that your body and brain gets confused and exhausted if you do that. You probably feel like a trainwreck when you wake up, right?

    • @aga6104
      @aga6104 8 лет назад

      +MegaMrFroggy sorry to say, but that's the stupidest. People actually benefit most when they are in a deep sleep between 00:00 and 03:00. especially between 1 and 3 am.
      Pineal gland proper working depends on the amount of light and sleep. Being in a deep sleep makes you less aware of the stimuli from the outside, also from the sources of the light. Thanks to a deep sleep and kind of insensibility to the light, the pineal gland produces melatonin, a hormone that is important to the quality of the sleep (and therefore - rest) and to the proper rhytm of some physiological functions.
      If you make yourself awaken in THIS PARTICULAR TIME, you do not provide yourself with the proper amount of melatonin. You can have some endocrine problems.
      Waking up, especially with the help of an alarm, is unhealthy in itself, as it's like waking up because of some shock, nervous stimulus, which the sound and vibrations of the alarm definitely is.
      Enhancing THIS effect with double-waking up and depriving yourself from melatonin production is totally unhealthy.

    When I first started napping I found myself sleeping for around 2 - 3 hours which of course is far 2 much. However the key to doing it right is to get your full 7 hours. Once you've established a good solid night sleep routine your day nap will just fall into place. I take a day nap every day and usually wake up between 20 minutes and half an hour of sleeping. This is the best I've ever felt in my life. No wonder most animals take naps.

    I was cramping real bad today so after my drivers ed i came home from school before my first class of the day. I thought i would not make it home and just pass out somewhere. I got home, i tried to make myself comfy in bed cause i wanted to avoid taking naproxen, ibuprofin or any strong stuff. I took some magnesium in the morning. I managed to find a good position fell asleep. Woke up like 2-3 hours later. My bed is below my window so i got a little sweaty from the heat but i've never been that relaxed or have taken a nap at all in years. Im not even joking, years!

      Usually lack of self discipline and schedule. (except for anxiety or depression, which are issues on their own to be dealt with)
      You must be aware you're doing everything you do for yourself.
      Set a goal, set realistic milestones, and try not to be too hard on yourself if you're not good at it or extra productive at first or at random times, just keep practicing.

    Tips to fall asleep fast :
    1, Get rid of your thoughts, all of them : Imagine clouds and label them each as one of your thought, if they are too many you will have a tough time trying to fall asleep. Swipe them away one by one until your mind is pure white and calm, also pay attention on the upcoming new thoughts and gently swipe them away one by one as they come.
    2, Try to nap/sleep at the same time everyday : When you nap/sleep at the same time everyday, your body will get used with your routine and will know when is time to do it, making it much more easier.

    Under conditioning of polyphasic sleep at 20 minutes per nap every 6 hours (Uberman Cycle), you can actually achieve REM very quickly. Otherwise, a 90 minute nap generally helps you feel most alert because you went through the deep sleep (ph 2) phase.

    Absolutely right. But EEG tracing doesn't worry about the order of events, it worries about neuroelectric wave size and frequency. Since REM sleep creates a tracing that is closer to that of a waking brain (than any of the other sleep patterns) the other naming conventions place it either in stage one sleep or a stage of it's own. The hypnogram on the wikipedia page (wish i could link...) shows this quite effectively.
    Side note: This is why naming the convention you're using is super important
