  • I got two flat tyres in one week...
Is that someone telling me Vanllife isn't for me?
Should we be listening to big signs like this as a message to give up, or maybe there's another way to look at it.

    Well done
Don’t give up on van life. I think just use this annoying experience as a lesson. The positive from all this is that
    1. You know how to change a flat tyre. AND
    2. You know you now have the right equipment to get the job done.
So you’re even better prepared for the van life journey.
I was also about to add not to get the drill for a flat as you can be caught out with a flat drill battery. The breaker bar and socket set is the way to go.
Glad to see you got it sorted and firies are always willing to help anyone in need. I’m a firey also and never struck a bad one yet. Safe travels and hope that’s the last of your flat tyres. So dissapointed that people would slash someone’s tyres but so greatful there are more nice people out there willing to help. 😃👍

I realised myself that I wasn’t prepared for a flat and made this video. I did buy the drill but also purchased a breaker bar to do it manually if my drill was flat. Here’s my flat tyre change video. Feel free to have a look - ruclips.net/video/9k0r5FwdCtQ/видео.html

Thank you! If only I watched this before my week of flat tyres... The impact drill has more benefits than I thought - so useful to use it on the jack.

@@vanlifeshots Yeh. It definitely gets the job done so much quicker. Still good to have the breaker bar as well. Just in case the drill battery goes flat. 😃👍

I would highly recommend buying yourself a bottle jack. Rather than what you are using there. Much safer and better to work with. Those scissor jacks are dangerous

Thanks for the tip, I'll look into that. Honestly, I think my jack is way too flimsy for the size of my van. Surprised that's the one that's supplied with it.

That's odd that the lugnuts on the 4 tires aren't the same as the spare. Anyways, wouldn't the ratchet for the jack also work on the tires? It's been a while. At least on GM models it is or was like that. Never had a Mercedes. You should be able to get that tire patched and repaired. I don't recall if you mentioned if you did.

Yeah, they don't match cause I got the spare tyre brace custom fitted. At least I have the tools now to do them both. Yes, I got the puncture patched :)

*that sucks that someone would just slash your tire, BUT it's cool that ya learned how to do it. You'd be surprised how many of us American's can't change their own lol. I know how to*

Yeah, definitely a good skill to have - especially for road travellers.
