i think the funniest thing about all of this is that the new york-dublin portals aren't even the first ones, there are a few others around the world but those ones are the only ones anyone cares about
also i went to the portal (dublin side) before it got shut down and there were so many more people on our side than theirs
this was of course before all the insane stuff happened
tbf, anyone can make a portal, you just need a camera, a tv and an internet connection
literally there is one in Poland but no one cares about that lmao Its obvious american people are weird

The portal was created by a Lithuanian compony and as a Lithuanian I'm glad that its getting recognition but sad that its probably gonna shut down Lithuania and Poland had the portal for 2 years and nothing like this has happened this just proves that new york and ireland are something else

There is one exactly the same between Lublin, Poland and Vilanius, Lithuania and it's been there since 2021. There weren't any big problems which is funny considering Lithuanians kinda hate Poles but New York/USA and Ireland have no actual beef and got their portal shut off

:( I hope the portal opens again. My grandpa is in cork Ireland and I'm in Connecticut. It'd be cool if I could see him through it. Distance from cork to Dublin and Connecticut to New York is a similar distance away so it'd feel special. Like we both traveled 2 hrs to see each other. Or we can just video chat like normal but it'd be a cute idea.

When I was about 8 there was a portal in NYC under the Brooklyn Bridge that connected to England by Big Ben. It was really cool because there was no line at the one in Brooklyn, I was visiting my grandma and it was about 7 am at the time. On the other end there were tons of people all waiting in line to see us. This was before video chatting was popular so I had never been able to talk to someone through video before. I remember thinking that all the people were waiting in line to see me, and also I remember that there was no sound on the portal so you could only see each other.
Funfact: There's also a portal like that between Vilnius, Lithuania and Lublin, Poland!!
