I've been seeing a lot of forever world vids lately, and it really inspired me to make one and take it seriously. Another big inspiration was seeing just how much stuff people have built in their worlds that I knew I wanted that too. It's really a great way to make good memories and see how your world changes over time.
I did notice in the past that once I beat the game, get the elytra, and have some farms going, I run out of things to do. So I'm kinda taking things slowly this time. Only exception is, I had to get netherite tools and a mending villager because my building projects need a lot of mining, and I'm too lazy to make an iron farm. So I'm just running around with netherite tools and in iron armor xD
I also found out that there is actually quite a lot of fun things to do in the game that a lot of people just forget about. I recently discovered archeology and excavated a trail ruin. Hence why I needed a good pick xD That was a lotta fun! Gonna build a museum to display all my findings in the ruin.
Another good tip for a forever world I've seen people give is when you have an urge to start a new world, you can just start over in the same one! Leave all your stuff and travel somewhere else to experience the early game once again.
I actually have a few more things to say, but damn this comment is so long already lol.
You really do have a soothing voice! I discovered your channel like a week ago and have been really enjoying your mc vids. Keep it up! ❤

my advice as someone with a 5.5 year old "failed" Forever World ("failed" in quotes because i'm actually quite fine with moving on from it)
    - BACK UP YOUR WORLD REGULARLY!
_you never know when your world could break. and it can be fun to look back on what your world used to look like._
    - Have a good think about what you want your hub/base to be.
_what happened to me is, i just kind of made random-ahh looking buildings for my armoury/smeltery/everything like that, without much consideration for what i'd actually enjoy regularly coming back to and spending time in. after 5 years, i'd now prefer a completely different looking hub, away from ALL of the old builds, so it'd kinda be better to start a new world._
    - If early on in the world you begin to feel like restarting, start over in a new area of the same world.
_you might realise that you'd rather go back and continue on the main part of your world. i did this 2 times, and each time i quite quickly got bored and went back to my main things._
    - Don't feel like you need to do things at a certain speed.
_take it at whatever pace you like. everything you want to do will be done eventually, because this is a Forever World. if you have a build idea written down, but you're currently excited about something else, do that instead! (until you start feeling bad about not having done the first thing lol). in my next Forever World, i probably won't even defeat the Ender Dragon until a long ways in, because for me there's something nice about the "simpler" feel of not having late game items_
    - Stick with your world despite failure or losing your items.
_you'll feel so accomplished coming out the other side. when i died to the Void, i restarted in a different part of my world to work myself back on track, and i set up a Village for Enchanted Books so i never had to worry about losing Enchantments again. it felt so bad to have lost everything at first, but i came out the other end better than before_
    - If you want stuff from later Updates, be a little cautious about how much you explore.
_this was probably my biggest mistake lol. i have so few options for exploration, because i loaded so many chunks in the beginning. explore at your own pace, but keep the long term in the back of your mind._
    - Set goals that will take a looong time to complete.
_this is more for when you're further into your world, but stupid big things like making a huge build, mining a whole chunk to bedrock, transforming a biome, can give you reason to come back to the world. these are projects that you can work on in between other endeavors. you probably don't neeeed huge goals like these, but they can be fun and they can be a nice aid if you've never kept a world for years before_
    - Don't be afraid to make new worlds alongside your Forever World.
_this'll help with burnout from your Forever World, and you might learn something new from being on a different world for a time. for me, a new world helped evolve/accentuate my current building style, which actually was part of realising i should move on from the 5 year world._
    - Anywhere you spend a lot of time, try making it pretty.
_your world will feel a lot more like "yours" if you've tamed the areas you often come back to. and it'll make the entire world feel that bit nicer._
    - Do every silly project you can think of, but maybe don't do them too close to your base?
_for me it turns out i just don't care about a lot of those dumb things i did, but it was a good learning experience. maybe you could do all of the dumb projects far away from your hub, that way if you don't like them, they're not taking up space from your other things._
    - Lastly, don't take it too seriously. Just play and have fun and keep coming back to the world. Ignore all of my advice if you like lol. If it turns out you don't even want to keep it as a Forever World after doing some consideration, that's okay! It's just a silly block game!

I’m 58 years old and have been playing for 12 years (on and off) and have never beaten the Ender Dragon legit, I did once in Creative mode….😂😉
I’m a huge wuss and usually play in peaceful or creative, I hate creepers blowing up my carefully crafted houses. 🏡

Another cosy video! Though, imo, the most important piece of advice for any Minecraft world is to play in the way that makes you happiest. While this might seem obvious, it wasn’t until I intentionally stepped out of my comfort zone and tried a different approach that I realized how much my playstyle was shaped by what I thought was the "correct" way to play. Letting go of that mindset opened up a whole new way to enjoy the game.
I started my 'forever world' almost a year ago now, after having taken a three year break from the game. Instead of building a house, I opted to live inside of a cave - which eventually turned into a small hobbit hole. I eventually abandoned that hobbit hole and started a massive project within the same cave: building a massive, ancient, worn-down steampunk pipe organ acting as a storage '''room'''' - weird, I know, but I absolutely love how it turned out. I designed it in a separate creative testing world, still leaving room for adjustments. I didn't even beat the ender dragon until this project was halfway done, simply because I enjoyed building so much. Even now, I don't use any rockets because I rely on riptide (my favourite enchantment in the game!) to get around - it still forces me to interact with the environment, while providing an efficient mode of transportation. And because of that, I incorporated water into my base. I'm playing Minecraft the way I want to, and having a blast in doing so.
Also, I feel like inspiration is essential to forever worlds as well. Like you said, simply recreating things you find in real life can already be a motivator, but you can also go a step beyond that. Find anything that inspires you and save it for later. I personally took inspiration from Elden Ring's environment as well as hollow knight's intricate cave systems to theme my world around. I also love BdoubleO100's building style, and have learnt a ton watching his videos. Another personal motivator is writing or imagining lore to accompany my builds, or even set the tone for the world as a whole. You can keep it simple like the signs in your graveyard, or go for something completely crazy and original! In my world, my whole base is 'frozen in time', which captures an ancient battle between an extinct civilization and sculk (which represents a type of 'time parasite'). This is definitely over the top, but it keeps me motivated to keep working on my base and expand it. I even ended up mirroring the giant pipe organ, building an upside-down and colour-inverted replica infested with sculk (this one acts as my nether portal).
That said, it’s important to maintain a balance between ambition and enjoyment. Don’t take on massive projects if they feel overwhelming-it’s perfectly okay to play or build casually. As a perfectionist myself, I often overthink even the smallest additions, but there’s beauty in that too. When everything finally “works,” the sense of satisfaction is unmatched. That joy in creation is what makes Minecraft so precious to me, and also motivates me to continue playing even after all this time.

Started a creative and smp servers on my home network when my daughter was 5 or so in 2018. Still playing them today together. It’s rewarding to go back and look at all the generations a builds and how they have gotten better over time. In the SMP world we still haven’t fought the dragon and gone to the end. Maybe one day soon. We have however named all the villagers in the main town and stayed away from big item farms like iron and whatnot, so we need to go places to do things.

Love the video and you touch on alot of points I've kind of realized lately too. I've been trying to get back to an "older style" of building in MC because so many ppl follow tutorials and schematics and such and alot of creativity tends to die when thats the only way you play the game instead of you just doing your own thing. I too started looking at old minecraft videos for inspiration.
Also I'm gonna have to play a game of shots for every time you say "you know what I mean?" It was cracking me up xD
Again, great video, keep it up!😀

the main thing that makes me want to drop my forever world is the way that mojang's updates keep changing world generation, forcing you to travel further and further in the multi or even tens of thousands of blocks from spawn to see the new content, it gives me a sort of FOMO to know that a new world would be cohesive and lovely with all the new generated content within reasonable reach (don't get me wrong, I love exploring, just not 5,000 or 10,000+ blocks away). but if I did that, they'd just add new stuff again anyway... it's a struggle

a good start is to just build whatever is necessary. need to store items? build a storage building. need to smelt a lot of things? build a smeltery. want to keep a pet sniffer? build it a home.
if you have no inspiration, you could look at whatever blocks you have and just start placing them. or theme the build around its purpose, like make your smeltery out of earthen materials. doesn't have to turn out "good", as long as you find it pleasing enough to the eye and had fun building it
