Always enjoyable even without meat sticks. Need to check out Trust Fund. The either albums did not grab me. Looking forward to your favorite albums on the year. After a month of registering to the new music from 2024 I think I’m finally ready to do my best of list
The meat stick demand is very high to be sure. Yeah, I think you might like that Trust Fund record. Worth digging in to. Hope you have a lovely Christmas. Cheers!
Great duo so chilled and relaxed the 2 of ye . Ye just listened to the new st etienne album sounds thanks for the recommendation . Ye there is so much stuff out there if people go searching i always go through music mags Shindig , Mojo and Uncut also Nice Guys channel i still catching up on 2024 .Always love the channel looking forward to the end of year list . Happy Christmas too i know the New Year is bigger in thailand .
Thanks for watching. Yeah, I used to collect Mojo magazine back in the US in the 90’s - was quite expensive to get there. I actually regularly picked up a lot of those UK mags - quite influential on me. Hope you have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year as well. Cheers!
I may need to give it more listens, but I feel the same way thus far about the new Kim Deal (and it's high placement on some year end lists). The Belair Lip Bombs "Lush Life" reminded me a slight bit of the band Twen (but with the ethereal dial set the zero...as Twen IMO has the ethereal-ness set higher and lends itself a slightly more psychedelic indie rock). Of course Twen have evolved since their debut, and surely that might eventually be the case for The Belair Lip Bombs. At 2:05 I also caught The Snob's "top 150" subtle dig 😆...but let be known, I've come to look forward to Douche's lengthy end of year list; especially as a chance to newly discover something I missed, or let's face it, would never have been aware of. I guess I'm a musical masochist. Cheers!
I haven’t listened to Twen in a while now. I think I will have to circle back and give Lush Life another listen at some point. It’s always good to hear from a musical masochist - I’m glad someone is finding something interesting here. Thanks for hanging out and taking the time to comment. Cheers!
I love the Saint Etienne poppier stuff, but this ambient variant sounds pretty good to me too. I'm interested enough in all four artists to want to hear more.
I always check the albums out that your channel features. I put the Kim Deal album on my Top 25 list. However, the production on her voice takes a bit to get used to. It's as if she is singing at me from down a length of pipe, left lying around after the plumber had been in to upgrade the studio's amenities block. Just recently, I really liked Knitting and Sassyhiya, which you recently featured. I may buy them for my collection.
I think I’ll come back around to the Kim Deal record in a couple months - might feel differently after some time with it. I’d be interested to see your Top 25 list. Thanks for watching & taking the time to comment. Cheers!

That Saint Etienne album is a grower not a show-er. True is the fact we're all sometimes guilty of not being in the proper headspace (aka mood, mindset) when sampling new tunes, making it easy to file-13 releases you may never revisit. Sometimes we want something to wow us or correct or positively reorient our current state. I'm evolving so I'm more patient, but I also buy media (to help artists a bit more) and I want a handsome return! Buy and hold, baby!
I got the new Kim Deal (though recorded in 2022 and thé last recorded with Albini) ... Glad I got that. For me it is a 6.8 out of ten. She can do better. I saw her with the Breeders in 1993 a first time. That show was stellar. Though nothing beats Pod. That album is a 10 out of 10. Love Saint Etienne... Played that as a closing track(90s hit track of theirs) on our pre-xmass party at work in my set. To Snob... Try Biosphere... That is good ambient.
My understanding was that some of the tracks on the Kim Deal LP go back to the 2013 7 inch series she did and some are even earlier. But, I could definitely be wrong. My first time seeing her was also in 1993 with the Breeders - opening for Nirvana. Unforgettable and not overshadowed by the headliner. Thanks for hanging out and taking the time to comment. Cheers!
@TheVinylDouche And Happy Holidays! On a side note... I meant recording the album... Have no idea when she wrote the tracks :) I always make time. We all should :)
My Top 25 is nearly done. I'm listening to the last couple of candidates. It may yet end up as a Top 28. I find Kim Deal and The Breeders to be very inventive indie rockers. Her songwriting is peculiar and beguiling.
The Innocence Mission and Kim Deal albums were both really good. Clem Snide also had a new release in November that's really good. Also - it looks like Satan finally lost his grip on En Attendant Ana and allowed them to release a Christmas record. I know how painful this must be for you. Jesus is there for us in times of trouble like this. Sad. Baby.
I did see the EAA Christmas single. The Pogues cover is one they have been doing live for quite a while. My favorite Christmas movie is Eyes Wide Shut. I need to remember to watch that soon so I can remember the reason for the season. I didn’t get an around to sampling the Clem Snide. I am a failure. SAD.

I finished mine up a couple weeks ago and already would make big changes if I did it again.

@@TheVinylDoucheEyes Wide Shut is such a Dickens ripoff. Tom Cruz as Scrooge? Yawn… 🥱
