    Came here to say also thanks for saving me the step on raising the legs haha. Just unboxed mine tonight.
    Gotta say though, super easy unboxing as far as heavy equipment is concerned

    Hi Mike. Nice video:). I have the G700, but I haven't hooked mine up yet. Just curious, how much hose length in total do you have connected? Have you found any issues over longer lengths? I'm nervous that 1100cfm won't be enough to service my whole shop once I factor in the loss from hose length and type. Thanks.

    • @WoodshopMike

      Thanks! I have mine hooked up to 6" ducting and my layout is honestly not the best for optimum performance. Even with that I'm really happy with the dust collection. I have about 30-40' of 6" ducting total that necks down to 4" flexible hose at each tool. I have blast gates at each tool.

      @@WoodshopMike Thanks Mike, I've been looking for a new system for my shop. Noise is a BIG factor along with collection. I have a Wood Master model W-718 combo planer/sander/molding machine that kicks out so much chips that I'm under the impression that my current collector isn't working at all. I know one problem is I ran 4" piping all through the system (a big no no)and the cost to up grade a 24 year old collector doesn't make much since. With the cost of canister filters plus the elect. costs another problem. I under stand the G-700 will handle a home shop with a 8" planer, 3 h.p. cabinet saw, 12" miter saw, & the Wood Master. At present time I'm running appox. 60' of rigid pipe and 20' of flex. Will be revamping the ducting system also. Question: have you had the G-700 long enough to have to change out the filters and any idea the cost of the filters?
      Thanks again, best video I've seen on it so far.

      Do you have blast gates at the different tools to improve dust collection? I've not had to replace the filters yet and they are super easy to clean. I don't know how much they cost to replace, but you can find that on Harvey's site. Glad the video was helpful, thank you very much for letting me know!

    Nice review…..you’ve had it for a while, are you still happy with it? I get my kiln dried rough lumber from a local mill and spend a lot of time on my planer producing large amounts of chips. I milled about 80 bf of 4/4 hard maple the other day and emptied my 30 gallon bin twice. I have concerns about this unit handling the load? Also, does it handled going from the 6” to 2” hose for items like palm sanders, trim routers, etc? Thank you for your time

    • @WoodshopMike
      @WoodshopMike  Год назад

      It's a great system and it does a good job of collecting chips but my biggest complaint is the bin capacity. I have to empty the unit every 15-20 minutes when running the 20" planer. I've never used it for tools with a 2" port, I use my surfprep pov8 for those things. I am looking to make some adjustments to my dc setup, but not exactly sure when they'll happen.

      @@WoodshopMike I appreciate the fast and honest response. It looks like a great system but I need to be productive as well. I am looking at this one and the oneida super cell.

    • @WoodshopMike
      @WoodshopMike  Год назад +1

      Absolutely! The super cell is an impressive machine. Doesn't have the highest cpm, but the static pressure is insane and would be a good solution if you're wanting one unit to run some tools with 4" ports and 2" ports. 👊

    To anyone reading this, the G700 is a dust processor, not a vacuum. When material is collected by the unit it goes right by the business end, the impeller creating all that suction. I am only speculating, I were to suck up a rock or something metallic, that impeller won’t like it. There is my mania for you.
    I like my G700, operating out of a two car garage and 7 feet of flex hose. I am of the opinion, bring the dust collector to the machine.

  • @bobbray9666
    @bobbray9666 Год назад

    Add a couple of 4" elbows to the cleanout ports and into a wye and then add a removable rubber cap as your suction port for cleaning . Much easier to clean out than crawling around on the floor for each port. I did this to my G700. I also use my cordless drill on the turn knob stems to turn the paddles, using a very low speed.
    If you clog the filters where the paddles won't spin, set aside about 2 hours to remove the filters for manually cleaning them. Harvey needs to figure out how to have a hinged door on the vent panel to make this easier. If you crank too hard on the paddle knobs if they won't spin, you'll break them.

    • @WoodshopMike
      @WoodshopMike  Год назад

      I thought about adding the Ys like your mentioned but never did. 100% on using the drill to clean the filters though, it's the only way!

    • @bobbray9666
      @bobbray9666 Год назад +1

      @@WoodshopMike It is so much easier to clean the filters standing and not neglecting this step until the dreaded packed filters! Another thing to note is that a short direct run to the G700 from a planer when the G700 is at high speed can cause the shavings to bypass the bins and quickly clog the filters (been there, done that). In my new shop, I don't have that problem with 20' of 6" pipe plus a few elbows at the highest speed of 75.
      I've owned my G700 for over two years and use it almost daily. I really like it. So much quieter than my old Jet 1.75 HP DC.

    • @WoodshopMike
      @WoodshopMike  8 месяцев назад

      I had and 15' of 6" ducting between the planer and G700 and still had troubles😂. I will say it is a quieter unit, but since I'm always wearing my isotunes I can't really tell a difference. Especially over the planer 😂

    • @bobbray9666
      @bobbray9666 8 месяцев назад

      @@WoodshopMike Then you should dial down the G700 speed to find the balance of enough suction without plugging your filters. I used to dial it down to 55 and that worked for my setup at the time. The planer was the only machine that caused this issue for obvious reasons of a high shavings volume vs. something like a table saw or miter saw. I was determined to replace my G700 with a traditional DC if I still had this issue in my new shop but thankfully everything is working well!
      Eventually, you'll need to replace your G700 filters and it's not fun.
