Floor is trained in classical opera. As a young girl she was inspired to do this after she saw henk poort perform as the phantom in the phantom of the opera. She is performing with her childhood hero here. Also henk was interested in rock in his younger years but decided for classical opera because he couldnt get a hang on the growl and was worried about damaging his voice. Floor taught him how to do it properly for this performance. Which is why the henk poort cover of disturbed sound of silence is so good. He uses more distortion there and you can see he is singing it for floor who taught him how to do that. She is just gushing at him its really cool to see.
Well actually Floor didn't teach him. His own focal coach did. But he did learn it for Floor. For the sound of silence. And as a surprise for her he also used it here . They did practice the song by themselves, before they met on the show But they only had one general repetition together, in which he didn't use it. He told in an interview.
I don't know if it's true, but I read in comments to this performance that when Floor asked Hank if he'd sing with her, he accepted under one condition, that he'd be allowed to sing with Nightwish in return - man, that would be epic (I mean, even more epic than Nightwish is already, lol)

Have some things to say .. (1) Watching you sing along told me right off you appreciated the musical (2) Afghanistan .. was in Bagram and Kandhare in 2003. Trying to fly space A to Uzbekistan (3) Thailand .. was there in 1971 on R&R from Vietnam. I spent a week in Bangkok .. came back and told the reenlistment NCO I would reenlist if I could get duty at SSO Bangkok. He wasn't interested .. (4) Thailand .. while there went to .. if I remember .. a river on the Thailand/Burma border . the bridge there was over the Khwae Noi River .. made famous from the movie The Bridge over the River Kwai. There was a large military cemetery and relics of the Japanese facilities. Went down the river a bit on a boat to a Buddhist temple in a cave. I think I have that right .. been 50 years so memory is a bit hazy

The upside was they had beer. Finally they tell me I might have better luck flying into Afghanistan. Did that and spent like three days in Bagram before hoping over to Kadahar before finally catching a flight to UZ. Funny .. was at the KZ APOD and noticed all the posters on the walls were from Louisiana. A young E5 was there with a badge showing he worked there so I asked him "What's up with all the Louisiana posters?". He told me his unit (Army Reserve) was from that state. Cool says I .. where at? He tells me Baton Rouge at which point I am .. "Baton Rouge? So is my unit but I don't know you!" .. some talk and he was from the transportation unit out at the Baton Rouge Air Port. Tell him my unit is the MMC at Baton Rouge and now we are "Home Boys" and start on about "Do you know .." .. "Have you been .." .. and he asks me where I had lived and when I told him he is like .. "Cool!! I used to work just down from there at a Radio Shack!" .. which stops me as i take a good look at him and .. suddenly I cry out .. "DUDE!! YOU TRIED TO SELL ME A VCR/DVD COMBO!" .. Small world sometimes :)

Both are trained opera singers, Henk played the role in the musical over here in the Netherlands for some time. He only wanted to participate if he could sing with Floor in this duet.
You completely missed the fact that an, well trained, Opera singer sing with al little distortion... a prelude to.. haha my hero Henk Poort... he can sing the phone book and i would still love it!
This was the very last song of the show, so they all (finally) knew her and were waiting for the grand performance! Next you should try Vilja Lied, because it was the exact opposite: the very first song on that year, and pretty much nobody present knew what that 'rocker' girl could do. Their reaction is everything you can imagine! :D

You know... if you like musicals, maybe you could check out Dracula, it's a czech musical, the singer playing Dracula is opera trained barytone just like Henk here, only he is more used to singing with a distortion. I realy love that musical and the singers (Daniel Hůlka) voice since childhood.

You want Floor doing opera, or at least an operetta? Watch her do "Vilja Lied", her performance for Henk, for her first performance on this show. Harldy any of the performers knew her (metal is not really listened to in The Netherlands) and they got a BIG awakening to The Valkyrie Goddess! She went on to amaze them all in every episode.
What impresses me is that in many video's (like for example the one that features Eminem's song)... you sing along (softly) and you know the lyrics! Cool!

That thunder at the beginning was obviously Thor stopping in to listen to our Valkyrie Goddess sing.

Nice choice of root beer. From my hometown. A came up with the formula in the 19 teens and met W who had his own burger joint. Together they open the first A&W restaurant which was open till 2012 in 1920.
The ONLY kind of Root Beer for this guy! LOL I've tried many types...they just aren't the same :( I do like some of those places that make their own in house though!

Both are trained opera singers, Henk played the role in the musical over here in the Netherlands for some time. He only wanted to participate if he could sing with Floor in this duet.
You completely missed the fact that an, well trained, Opera singer sing with al little distortion... a prelude to.. haha my hero Henk Poort... he can sing the phone book and i would still love it!
This was the very last song of the show, so they all (finally) knew her and were waiting for the grand performance! Next you should try Vilja Lied, because it was the exact opposite: the very first song on that year, and pretty much nobody present knew what that 'rocker' girl could do. Their reaction is everything you can imagine! :D

You know... if you like musicals, maybe you could check out Dracula, it's a czech musical, the singer playing Dracula is opera trained barytone just like Henk here, only he is more used to singing with a distortion. I realy love that musical and the singers (Daniel Hůlka) voice since childhood.

You want Floor doing opera, or at least an operetta? Watch her do "Vilja Lied", her performance for Henk, for her first performance on this show. Harldy any of the performers knew her (metal is not really listened to in The Netherlands) and they got a BIG awakening to The Valkyrie Goddess! She went on to amaze them all in every episode.
What impresses me is that in many video's (like for example the one that features Eminem's song)... you sing along (softly) and you know the lyrics! Cool!
