Hey y'all! Hope you enjoyed! If you can't see what I'm talking about with the denoiser, it's probably that the yt display resolution is too low. Feel free to ask any questions you have! :)
Moving the scene instead of the character is actually really smart. I've done that in test animations and it works well. I did notice the flickering-noise-pixels but I thought it added an interesting dreamlike effect to the whole video, even if Toothless had four wings sometimes haha. Very well done, overall. The way you animated my model is just so beautiful and smooth 😁
I have nothing but mad respect for CG animators. I've dabbled in programs like Maya but I never got into it. And as someone who has done simple 2D animations in Procreate, I understand how long it can take. 😅 Nicely done!
oh my god i saw this animation and it's really amazing! I, as a person who is not very knowledgeable about computer graphics, animation, etc. and who draws frame-by-frame animations, understand how painful and long it is done on enthusiasm alone without realizing that you will be paid for it. I mean, many animators only work because they get paid for their work. This is really fascinating, considering that even despite the microscopic minuses that are everywhere and always, the work is worthy of an Oscar!
@@julijlart I also want to add that you are a very loyal leader of the RUclips channel, as you read and even respond to comments under the video :0 sometimes there is not enough good communication between the author and the consumer of the content. And here it turns out the cycle of positive in nature, hehe
Question, ie 2D actually much easier? As in 3d you get lighting & in-betweens & consistency for basically free. With the drawbacks being it takes time to render.
@@Kalion-mi1zc well I’ve never done 3D (I can’t figure out how to move the model right) but I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s easier. I would say it definitely takes a LOT of patience because you have to hand draw every single frame and if you want lighting or shading you have to add that on as well and keep it consistent from frame to frame
This video was amazing the whole way! Loved every part of it ^^. It's amazing how much time and effort you put into these animations and explain every single step you took in a hilarious way! Love the voiceover as well! Can't wait for more videos!
You are really amazing!!! You put here a lot of work and it became incredible! Well done, keep doing it!! I would like to see more videos with toothless made by you! 🤩❤
This looks very hard to do that *"Hidden World"* but you are pro and you know how to build *other world* , if I will do that, I would *create my world* , *but I can't* ... *But you! You can create the world that you dreamed of! The creatures that will live here, develop and living their peaceful life!* Oh sorry, *I am dreaming again...*
Finally got around to watchins this! Incredible work! Wouldnt annother way of solving the lag problem at 1:40 also be solvable by blocking everything out with basic cubes, then building the environment around that? Also I dont think you need to completely remove the denoiser to remove the artifacts, you would just need to increace the amount of samples. So instead of taking 167 days it would take more like 40-50 hours.
Thanks! :D I probably could've blocked things out. However, most of the changes I found I wanted to make we're after the set was complete (so things like lighting couldn't be decided until the set was complete). I also needed to know where the set pieces (like the giant mushroom things) needed to go so I could plan how it was to move around toothless. Since making this, I've found that the denoiser doesn't work well with cycles when there are emissive textures. That's what's causing the artifacts. I'm not sure whether increasing the sample size would've removed it completely, but it probably would've made the noise less noticeable.
For the wind effect, I just moved the wing tips like they were ruffling in the wind. Then I copied/pasted those keyframes over and over again. For the flight cycle, I actually didn't have the wings on a cycle. I animated the wings to fit what toothless was doing. Hope that helps! :)
Hello! I have a playlist on my channel page that has a lot of the tutorials I've used to learn new things. I likely have a video listed on how to make procedural rocks and such. I recommend checking that out! Hope that helps!

I can't put in words how underrated your channel is. You put in so much work for these videos its crazy.
Thank you for the kind words! :)
This was really enjoyable to watch. I hope you’ll continue to do voiceovers in your videos!
Thanks! I'll probably do more voice-overs for videos like this where it's much easier to explain with vocals than on-screen text.

Oh boy c.c I can't even animate my dragon looking around so that it looks good and you're doing this @-@
Why does this not have more views! this is amazing and so is the explanation. this is profressional-feeling youtube. whoa

this is fuckin awesome dude
Amazing I will like to see more toothless animations
Glad you enjoyed it!
I may occasionally do animations tied to a franchise, however, most of my animations will be original content

Hi have a great day
Very good breakdown! Btw, how do you animate flight cycle on toothless? Like wings for example, where they have "windy" effect on em
For the wind effect, I just moved the wing tips like they were ruffling in the wind. Then I copied/pasted those keyframes over and over again.
For the flight cycle, I actually didn't have the wings on a cycle. I animated the wings to fit what toothless was doing.

@@julijlart Ah, I see, so you didn't use any physics simulations, and all is done by hand?
