I noticed that you tore down your campfire early in the series as soon as you built your stove. If keep the campfire going (even with no production que) it can attract extra survivors. 9 out of 10 playthroughs I got an extra survivor walk into camp because they "saw smoke from the campfire". Usually this happens for me early on in game and so far I haven't gotten more than one extra survivor per playthrough so I don't know if it has limits, but it doesn't take much much to keep it fueled.
Loving your series, very sound advice given... About to roll over to Y6 with 6 survivors... research has dried up but doing lots of explorations to try get some good upgrades... just managed to get the carbon armour research and took out the same nest you did in this episode with way more carbon (over 3k) than you did... curious if this is due to the additional years it was active before I took it out. Keep up the good work on this series and hope to see you do a chaos one in the future.
Glad you're doing well in the game. Have no idea how the nests work for the amount of carbon they give. This game is on hard and may give me less or it may just be RNG if you are on hard as well. Might also be how many yrs before you took the nest. Glad you're enjoying the series. Would like to do another series on insane, but this is not my day job and have to find time for it when I can.
I just finished a game and the last poor survivor was all alone for a full year before the RNG decided to give him a ride. I felt quite sorry for him at the end. Then I tried the new option of random survivors but they all have rail guns. What a disaster. all 4 survivors had combat 0 and three of the four were indifferent to combat. At least they weren't all pacifists although 2 of them were vegetarians but that isn't something that worries me too much.
RNG. Fickle at best. If you don't get it randomly at start, keep going on exploration missions. May come, may not. Definitely a must for good power with better repair materials.
Sorry about harping about walls. BIG pet peeve of mine from other comments about ONLY using high walls or you won't survive. Hope you're enjoying the series otherwise.

Game is very wacko on RNG and very predictable sometimes. Love and hate this game at times. Lol
I finished a game and had taken out several nests but the research for carbon windmills never came up.
