Ford was gone for about 30 years. Dipper and Mabels' parents would've been kids(10 if they were 40 during the show). In dippers parts of journal 3, dipper mentions that he couldnt believe that stan had multiple phds. It is very strongly implied that the twins parents thought they sent their kids to stanford, a smart scientist, instead of stanley, a shady con artist.
Maybe ford didn't even met the twins' parents, since their grandfather (shermy) was a baby when stanley was kicked out and no more than about 20 years could have passed until Ford dissappeared, while he was long ago known as the weird scientist that lives outside the town, that until his brother opened the mustery shack
I like to imagine someone in their family was like "do you think Stanley is still alive and Stanford is dead because Stanford has seemed very differently since his death and is acting a lot like Stanley... nah that's crazy, it's probably just some complicated emotional stuff"
i think it was shown that while ford was possessed by bill he acted kinda crazy around the town so the switch with stan didn't seem *that* out of character for the townspeople lol
Well, to be fair. Their mom never really got to meet Stanley because she was just a baby when they kicked him out of the house. Which is depressing as shit when you take into account the fact that he wouldn't even have met the twins if he hadn't impersonated his brother who, by the way, didn't really care much about family connections, unlike Stanley who only became a scammer because he wanted to make a fortune so he could go back home. He never even made another friend in his life after losing Ford (Ford did have Fiddleford, though). To Stan Ford was irreplaceable. He spent 30 years tinkering and impersonating him just to bring him back, despite what that could've cost him. He knew bringing Ford back could destroy all that he'd forged already: A family connection, the Mystery Shack, his newfound house, his place in that community, the perception people had of him and most importantly his relationship with the twins. It's truly saddening how he had to wait more than 40 years to finally form his family and forge a place where he belonged in the world, and even then, he still gave it all away to go venture the world with his brother.
There's also the fact he faked his death, and absolutely no one went to his burial. I personally thought that was the actual reason why he got so emotional with wax stan's death, but him being reminded of Ford is fair too
While dipper and Mabel's parents definitely thought Stanley was Stanford they probably never met ford. Stanley says they are shermie's grandkids their youngest sibling who was a baby when they were going to college. They look mid twenties early thirties when the portal incident happened. Assuming and age difference of 18 years with shermie and highballing their age as 34. That would make sherman like 16 so they probably weren't born yet. More likely is stanley took over Ford's relationship with sherman calling him to keep in touch cause he wanted to or because ford used to. Then sherman told his kid they could always call their reliable genius uncle for anything.
i think their different ways of approaching it. Ford didn't know he had gran nieces and nephews while stan did. Meaning Ford went into the portal before the kids were born. It's also unclear how much of a relationship their parents had with either ford or stan cuz the kid's Dad was a baby when stan was kicked out and ford soon went to college and went home. Ford may have been the one still in contract with their parents but disappeared way before the pines were born
Mabel and Mason father may have never knew that this was Stanley and not Stanford but did know he was a cool uncle. He would have trust Stanley to the point of sending his kids there even if he didn't know his real name.
They thought they were sending their kids to the smart, nerdy, Grunkle (Stanford) and they probably were hoping they’d learn interesting science projects and stuff like that. Also, the whole town thought that Stanley was Stanford, as we see in a tale of two Stan’s… when he goes into town to buy more food, everyone thinks he’s that reclusive scientist that lives in the woods, and they offer to pay money to see what’s inside the place. That’s what gives Stan the idea to make the Mystery Shack. After that, he faked his death and officially (well, as official as just claiming you are him. He never legally changed his name.) He took the name Stanford Pines and so began his new life this way. And when Dipper and Mabel were born, he got to hold them first before Shermie did, and he had to fight to keep holding them for an extra minute. So by this point, everyone thinks Stanley is dead, and that he is Stanford. Alex kinda confirmed this twice, once on a post somewhere where someone pointed out the fact Dipper and Mabel’s parents thought they were sending them to Ford’s place. Alex replied with “Ding, ding, ding!” And then the second time was either in the Book of Bill or Journal 3. I can’t remember where, but if I find it I’ll let you know.
@@joutatheegg I don’t think they were fully aware, but they definitely knew a bit about it. They probably just thought it was some side job to earn cash, and it wasn’t a scam or whatever. As for the Fez, again, definitely. The fez and the suit were both given to Stanford (Not Stanley) from their father, Filbrick. He thought Stanford might use the suit for a wedding or something special, and he gave him the fez thinking he would join the royal order. After the whole portal thing Stanley found these items and said he wore the fez because it fit him well, and he thought it was funny looking enough to do show business things in. And he wore the suit to look nicer and more mysterious. So in conclusion, yes Dipper and Mabel’s parents probably knew a little bit about the Mystery Shack being used as a gift shop, it’s also possible they didn’t know and thought it was a normal cabin. And they probably knew about the fez and suit.
Well Stan and ford had a fight back when Shermie was a baby. So could be possible while Shermie was growing up she did even know she had bothers until many years later. Since eventually Ford would there to reconnect to his family but Stan never would. While until Ford was shuck into the portal. We could only spectate about when ford was communicating with Shermie. Heck maybe Shermie show Stan on the news or newspaper at some point.
Stanly was kicked out of his parents house when dipper's mom was a baby.the parents probably wanted to make sure they never brought up stanly untill "he made them millions" like the father said. its likely that the reason the pines twins's parent never brought up Stanly was because she didint know stanford had a twin at all
Technically Standford would’ve had a relationship with Shermie and not dipper and Mabel’s parents. Shermie then would’ve had a relationship with Stanley and there for having a relationship with Dipper and Mabel’s parents
What you don't think about is how Stanley and Stanford are the only siblings, right? Then, if both of them don't have kids, how are they any of their uncles?
how TF ARE FORD AND STANLEY ACTUAL UNCLES OF DIPPER AND MABEL. they can t be the brothers of one of the parents of DP And MB, Nor has either one of them ever gotten married, and even if stanley did get married with, like, the sister of one of the parents, for a scam or something he couldn t have been marryed long enough to integrate with the family. so.... HOW TF ARE THESE KIDS RELATED TO THOSE CRAZY OLD CRIMINALS
I like to believe Sherman figured out that Stan is actually Stanley but still kept in touch and agreed to not tell anyone except people close to them so he could get ford back
also stanley faked his death so the parents didn't know they were sending dipper and mabel to live with stanley and thought they were living with stanford
Canonically, Stanley (in his 18th year of being Stanford) was present for Dipper and Mabel's birth while the real Stanford was in some alternate dimension
I watch a video somewhere that Stanly was at Dipper and Mable’s birth. With a it being an official source of Stan recalling memories of the other brother. Mable and Dippers grandpa. He probably still was pretending to be Ford there as well.
Imagine what it would have been like hearing that Stanley died in a car crash, and that his brother Stanford suddenly started hosting a weird haunted house attraction, originally called "Murder Manor". Would they think he was admitting to something? Would they think he was wracked with guilt? Maybe even gone a bit mad from the loss? And then imagine finding out after 30 years that he was actually alive all along and pretending to be his brother.
My take: likely Ford would also not be available, the parents would know his name but never really meet the real Stanford because he was going mad with his discoveries about Bill and the stuff Gravity Falls. Shermy would probably had never really mention the name "Stanley" because of Stan's past and only mention Ford, my theory is that only when the kids grew up is when Shermy mentioned stuff about his brother Ford or the accident in the portal happened before the kids were born.
It’s oddly wholesome to think that Grunkle Stan was the one who reached out to his bother and his kid(s), using this new life as an opportunity to regain some family connection that he lost during his youth. It could also have been Sherman who reached out to him but he maintained the relationship!

Alex kinda confirmed this twice, once on a post somewhere where someone pointed out the fact Dipper and Mabel’s parents thought they were sending them to Ford’s place. Alex replied with “Ding, ding, ding!”
And then the second time was either in the Book of Bill or Journal 3. I can’t remember where, but if I find it I’ll let you know.
@@endergirl1421 so that at least means that Dipper and Mabel’s parents were aware of the Fez wearing tourist trappyness of Stan right?
And they probably knew about the fez and suit.
what do you mean he held them when they were born? when was that stated?
@@geckopecko I can’t remember exactly where I read it, give me a few minutes and I’ll find it
I just realized for Stan and ford to be gruncles there has to be a third brother
I feel stupid af, this whole time I thought Shermie was Stan and Ford's younger sister and have NO IDEA why
but then mabel and dipper wouldn't have had the pines last name
Stanly was kicked out of his parents house when dipper's mom was a baby.the parents probably wanted to make sure they never brought up stanly untill "he made them millions" like the father said.
its likely that the reason the pines twins's parent never brought up Stanly was because she didint know stanford had a twin at all
I think they sent the kids to the wrong person entirely if Stan and ford were uncles that means they would have another sibling but they don’t
Yes, they do, they have a younger brother named Shermie who is Dipper and Mabel's grandfather
@@Superlazerninja12 so Stan and ford aren’t dipper and Mable’s uncles
@@Fungi-195 yes they are, they're their great uncles, their grandfather's older siblings
@BobMushroom31 theyre the twins great uncles hence them calling them grunkle stan and great uncle ford
Technically Standford would’ve had a relationship with Shermie and not dipper and Mabel’s parents. Shermie then would’ve had a relationship with Stanley and there for having a relationship with Dipper and Mabel’s parents
Do we not remember the Newspaper that said Stan pines died so they probably thought Stanley was dead
Gronkle Stan my favourite character
"Dipper’s parrot"
"911, what’s your emergency?"
"MY PARENTS TURNED INTO PARROTS"
Anyone realize in the begining of the short the silhouette of dipper and Mabel's dad is tad strange
im so confused what this video is even trying to say. Stanley was thought to be dead and he asimilated into stanford's life. thats all that happened
They probably thought they were sending their kids to a main with twelve PhD’s not twelve country bans.
Love the editing
I love this show it’s so well drawn and entertaining
"grokustan"😭💀 THE SUBTITLES I CAN'T-😭😭
The captions are a lil messed up. Not shaming the accent, i love it, just putting that out there
What you don't think about is how Stanley and Stanford are the only siblings, right? Then, if both of them don't have kids, how are they any of their uncles?
MatPat but you know what i ain't saying it
how TF ARE FORD AND STANLEY ACTUAL UNCLES OF DIPPER AND MABEL. they can t be the brothers of one of the parents of DP And MB, Nor has either one of them ever gotten married, and even if stanley did get married with, like, the sister of one of the parents, for a scam or something he couldn t have been marryed long enough to integrate with the family. so.... HOW TF ARE THESE KIDS RELATED TO THOSE CRAZY OLD CRIMINALS
I absolutely LOVE Gravity Falls
SAME
GF:„You can copy my homework but change some things”
Better call Sauls chuck plotline:
“Switch clothes and no one can tell us apart”
But mabel sent a letter explaining it
not even for the duration of Dipper's and Mabel's whole summer. My man's been missing for 30 fucking years and no one knew
The "door-ation" of their summer indeed
"im watching you nerds!"
-dorito man
Not the Matpat pose 😂❤
I like to believe Sherman figured out that Stan is actually Stanley but still kept in touch and agreed to not tell anyone except people close to them so he could get ford back
Dipper and Mabel's parents are probably Stanley's cosins
ah yes, my favorite character, "diprare"
“Gronklestan”😂
grokustan is my favorite character
NOT THE DAD OF DIPPER AND MABEL BEING TAD STRANGE-
I don't think so, I think that at that point the only "grunkle Stanford" they knew was Stan.
Is nobody gonna talk about the parents' LONG ASS ARMS 💀💀💀
The saddest part is that Stan’s parent most likely died (if they’re dead) convinced that Stanley was died in a car accident
also stanley faked his death so the parents didn't know they were sending dipper and mabel to live with stanley and thought they were living with stanford
Dipper and Mabel's Paris, ah yes
“Did Dipper and Mabel’s parents know that Stanfard was Stanley the whole time?”
Captain obvious: “buckle up”
Imagine the conversation that the pines twins how to with their parents
honestly, if they knew, they probably would take them back considering how Stan acts- 💀😭
“Grunkustan” (in the captions) 😂😂😂
Canonically, Stanley (in his 18th year of being Stanford) was present for Dipper and Mabel's birth while the real Stanford was in some alternate dimension
"Dippers parrot" 💀
You'd think their parents would of made mention of them having a second grunckle, even if they thought he was dead
Mabel wrote a letter to her parents explaining the situation to her parents
I watch a video somewhere that Stanly was at Dipper and Mable’s birth. With a it being an official source of Stan recalling memories of the other brother. Mable and Dippers grandpa. He probably still was pretending to be Ford there as well.
either they knew or not, still damn that’s straight up cold and brutal or at least in my opinion yeah, anyways, go gravity falls 🕸️!.
Black pat
Matpigga?!
I can’t tell the difference because they both worked the same in their names sound the same
Dipper spent all the time searching for the author in plain sight
YOU KNOW THAT THEY ARE 3 BORTHER TOTALS
STANLY STANFORD ?????? HE WAS A BROTHER WE CAN SEE THAT IN A EPS
Journal 3 confirmed this theory
Dipper and Mable “paris” 😂😂😂😂😂
My favorite head cannon is that their parents sent them over for some kind of summer school bc of Stanford's many phds and doctorates
Bro got the film theory ahhh video style
My take: likely Ford would also not be available, the parents would know his name but never really meet the real Stanford because he was going mad with his discoveries about Bill and the stuff Gravity Falls.
Shermy would probably had never really mention the name "Stanley" because of Stan's past and only mention Ford, my theory is that only when the kids grew up is when Shermy mentioned stuff about his brother Ford or the accident in the portal happened before the kids were born.
I want to see what Stanford's life in the portal thingy was like
Mabel wrote a letter to her parents after the Tale Of Two Stan’s episode happened and she explained what had happened
Dipper an Mabel’s Paris💀💀💀
I mean Stanley does an impeccable job at replicating Stanford’s voice and mannerisms. So ain’t really hard to fool them.
It’s oddly wholesome to think that Grunkle Stan was the one who reached out to his bother and his kid(s), using this new life as an opportunity to regain some family connection that he lost during his youth. It could also have been Sherman who reached out to him but he maintained the relationship!
