I do like these videos, but I'd preferred if this was written by someone who actually likes Halo and doesn't try to make fun of it at every turn. I'll give you credit for the "5" minutes, but it's not a full explanation at all. In fact, you could have described the flood's primary food source being calcium rather than saying "nom nom nom". Nevertheless, you didn't even try to describe key things such as the fall of reach, the wars between Koslovics, Friedens, and eventually the U.N. If anyone wants to know what the Halo franchise actually is you must read through the Halo Encyclopedia and for some of the experience, the books and games are good for that (music and movies too :D).
That was actually very well done. I'm also glad to see the ODST reference in there. Although it was different than the others, I still enjoyed it for what it was, and I would love to see a sequel...after Halo 5 of course.

Just so everyone knows. There is MORE!. This is not the entire story. There's books, graphic novels. tv shows. and there will most likely be a movie. Its a war story on another level. The story isnt star wars, But they had a very good development that started it and with mild intelligence the story can be carried by a guitar.
I got a 360 just to play the Halo and Gears franchises. I couldn't be any happier. I recently got Reach and beaten it 4 times on solo. That's how hyped up I was for this game. I love the oldschool FPS gameplay where you don't really aim down the sights, and the enemies don't die in 2 bullets. It's very mentally strategic and fun. My next game purchase is definitely Halo Anniversary. I cannot get enough of oldschool shooters, I find them more challenging and diversified because of the gameplay
She is deteriorating due to rampancy brought on by old age. It is unknown whether getting back to Halsey would have helped (no other AIs have been rescued from rampancy). The portals accelerated her decline as did splitting off her rampant personalities on the Didact's ship. She stayed on the ship rather than escaping in the same way she saved the chief because she knew she was already finished.
I dont know, but somehow i think that they will bring back her and also Didact.If i remember correctly in second mission you can find audio log of dr Halsey saying that "even the acceptance of the 7-year life cycle estimates may not apply".I think they will (or Didact will) find some functional storage where Cortanas mind will be.Don´t know,we will see...
The thing is though that master chief was put in a situation that takes him out of his confort zone. He talks more for a reason, and he still barely talks.
1) John 117 isn't the last Spartan alive. Even ignoring Spartan IIIs, Grey Team and Sgt Johnson (who MIGHT be a Spartan I), Kurt 051 was alive during the events of Halo 1-4. John 117 was on Reach along with literally every other living Spartan II in prep for Operation: Red Flag. When the Covenant Attack Reach, John was the only one to board the Halcyon-class cruiser The Pillar of Autumn and make an emergency Slip-Space jump away from Reach as it was being glassed with the remaining Spartan IIs still planetside fighting to hold the ground based MAC Gun Generators and/or protecting Dr. Halsey. After Reach fell, at least 8 Spartan II's survived: Anton-044, Grace-093, Li-008, Fred-104, Kelly-087, Linda-058, Will-043, Vinh-030 and Isaac-039. Vinh and Isaac were cut off from the survivors and are officially MIA, presumed KIA. 2) During the events of Halo 1, the humans released the Flood, not the Covy. 3) There were at least 7 survivors of Installation 04, not just Chief, Johnson and Cortana - Corporal Locklear, Lt Haverson, Warrant Officer Polaski, Spartan II Linda-058 and Thel 'Vadam (later given the designation of Arbieter).
Like I said to the other guy. They've made a lot of changes sense launch. It's a lot more like Halo now. And for game types they got griffball, legendary slayer (which has no perks or loadouts), CTF, the new ricochet game type (which is awesome), and even more. And with the weapon tuning update the guns are balanced and feel like classic Halo.
I love the halo series, I grew up with it, but I drifted away from it when bungie gave it away to the other studio.. And I played halo 4 and it was alright it just didn't feel like "halo" now debating if I should get halo 5 or not...
It feels the exact same as the other Halo games in a lot of ways. It's funny people bitch about it the most considering gameplay wise, it plays better than any previous Halo in terms of balancing and everything else, and in terms of story it's also the most well presented and emotional Halo game because you actually have a real reason to care (we both know Cortana and Chief pretty well - so we can sympathize with their problems. Whereas in Reach you don't even know who your allies really were before they die.)

i thought the same thing but once i saw forward unto dawn (the little movie they made) it made more sense, Halo 4 still follows the story line very well. if you are to read the books and truly understand the story behind it, halo 4 has a amazing storyline
I actually got a 360 just to play the Halo and Gears franchise. I was originally more excited about Gears, but in the end I actually found myself spending a lot more time with Halo instead. Halo Reach was my introduction to the franchise and is one of the best games I've played this gen. I've beaten the campaign 4 times, and it's not because of achievements, it's just because the game is so addictive. I love the oldschool FPS shooter mechanics the Halo games have.
if you want more storyline and more info on the halo universe, try the books, they all cover things the games don't, and help you understand the universe a bit more, also if you haven't seen it yet watch the Halo movie Forward unto Dawn, cause its just good.
She'd already split off most of herself. She was completely fragmented and going insane when Master Chief fired the nuke. The pre-rampancy Cortana we knew was definitely dead by then.
Cortana would have felt it if a part of her was forcibly saved to the Domain. Besides, she was heavily Rampant, had severely shortened what little time she had left by splitting herself up on the Didact's ship, got her chip destroyed, didn't interact with the Composer ergo she wasn't sent back to Requiem like the citizens of New Phoenix and the ship was completely and utterly destroyed.
Yeah, if you know your Halo, you'll know that there are other Spartans left, but in the video he does say "accounted for" and at this point in time Chief is believed to be the only one left.
She was supposedly dead, however during one of the cutscences in the Spartan Ops missions, it is shown she is alive, somehow, either a re-clone of her, a backed up copy of her (thanks to the Librarian) or something else.
Although i agree with you that the halo 4 story line and campaign is not up to standard it is still fun to walk through the amazing environments and experience the new weapons. The multi-player does feel a bit like COD but the armour abilities and the game types let you play the game how you want to, unlike in halo reach where everything is chosen for you in a multi-player match.
In my own opinion I think that Halo is one of the best SciFi series. Its holding a balanced structure and a really intresting story. My most enjoyable Halo in the campaign was 3 and in MP Reach
Joseph Staten, and Peter O'Brien are still at bungie... they all had major writing parts in Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3 ODST, and Halo Reach. Neither of them had anything to do with Halo 4.

Good lord, just because Halsey SUSPECTED that she could bypass the 7 year lifespan doesn't mean that Cortana can magically recover from Rampancy and be brought back to life all of a sudden. Also the Didact is most likely alive but that is because we saw him fall into a Slipspace rupture beneath the Composer. Also Cortana was stuck on the Didact's ship which got blown up by a 30 megaton nuke. She didn't interact with the Compower so she absolutely cannot be on Requiem like the Prometheans are.
Aren't there actually two arks? The one they destroyed was actually the smaller ark which builds smaller halo installations, but there was a bigger one that makes bigger more powerful halos. It might have gotten destroyed in the forerunner-flood war though I'm not sure.
There is a difference. Halo 3 ODST has been out for over 3 years now and the picture itself isn't particularly spoileriffic. All any average youtuber could glean from it is that the person who drew it likes both ODSTs and Engineers. Having a picture of Soap McTavish and the letters "R.I.P" next to him is a much more blatant spoiler as it is actually giving away details of the plot of Modern Warfare 3.
That doesn't mean that chief and Cortana were there at all in fact it proves the point that they couldn't have been there for those 4 years. It's funny people bitch about it the most considering gameplay wise, it plays better than any previous Halo in terms of balancing and everything else, and in terms of story it's also the most well presented and emotional Halo game because you actually have a real reason to care (we both know Cortana and Chief pretty well - so we can sympathize with their problems. Whereas in Reach you don't even know who your allies really were before they die.)
I feel the same way, and I also grew up with it... I would so love it if 343 would remake Halo 2 and 3, but I doubt it.

I love halo - it gives the nostalgic feeling of an old game everyone loved, but also mixes it with a new generation of players.
i thought the same thing but once i saw forward unto dawn (the little movie they made) it made more sense, Halo 4 still follows the story line very well. if you are to read the books and truly understand the story behind it, halo 4 has a amazing storyline

I actually got a 360 just to play the Halo and Gears franchise. I was originally more excited about Gears, but in the end I actually found myself spending a lot more time with Halo instead. Halo Reach was my introduction to the franchise and is one of the best games I've played this gen. I've beaten the campaign 4 times, and it's not because of achievements, it's just because the game is so addictive. I love the oldschool FPS shooter mechanics the Halo games have.
if you want more storyline and more info on the halo universe, try the books, they all cover things the games don't, and help you understand the universe a bit more, also if you haven't seen it yet watch the Halo movie Forward unto Dawn, cause its just good.

She'd already split off most of herself. She was completely fragmented and going insane when Master Chief fired the nuke. The pre-rampancy Cortana we knew was definitely dead by then.
Cortana would have felt it if a part of her was forcibly saved to the Domain. Besides, she was heavily Rampant, had severely shortened what little time she had left by splitting herself up on the Didact's ship, got her chip destroyed, didn't interact with the Composer ergo she wasn't sent back to Requiem like the citizens of New Phoenix and the ship was completely and utterly destroyed.
That's where it intensifies. Where the real history of Halo takes place. I'm very excited to see what Halo 5's campaign will bring.

Yeah, if you know your Halo, you'll know that there are other Spartans left, but in the video he does say "accounted for" and at this point in time Chief is believed to be the only one left.
She was supposedly dead, however during one of the cutscences in the Spartan Ops missions, it is shown she is alive, somehow, either a re-clone of her, a backed up copy of her (thanks to the Librarian) or something else.
i love halo but the multiplayer lacked ranked/competitive gameplay, and to fast pace, the story was absolutely amazing
Although i agree with you that the halo 4 story line and campaign is not up to standard it is still fun to walk through the amazing environments and experience the new weapons. The multi-player does feel a bit like COD but the armour abilities and the game types let you play the game how you want to, unlike in halo reach where everything is chosen for you in a multi-player match.
In my own opinion I think that Halo is one of the best SciFi series. Its holding a balanced structure and a really intresting story. My most enjoyable Halo in the campaign was 3 and in MP Reach

Good lord, just because Halsey SUSPECTED that she could bypass the 7 year lifespan doesn't mean that Cortana can magically recover from Rampancy and be brought back to life all of a sudden. Also the Didact is most likely alive but that is because we saw him fall into a Slipspace rupture beneath the Composer. Also Cortana was stuck on the Didact's ship which got blown up by a 30 megaton nuke. She didn't interact with the Compower so she absolutely cannot be on Requiem like the Prometheans are.

The one they destroyed was actually the smaller ark which builds smaller halo installations, but there was a bigger one that makes bigger more powerful halos. It might have gotten destroyed in the forerunner-flood war though I'm not sure.

There is a difference. Halo 3 ODST has been out for over 3 years now and the picture itself isn't particularly spoileriffic. All any average youtuber could glean from it is that the person who drew it likes both ODSTs and Engineers. Having a picture of Soap McTavish and the letters "R.I.P" next to him is a much more blatant spoiler as it is actually giving away details of the plot of Modern Warfare 3.
That doesn't mean that chief and Cortana were there at all in fact it proves the point that they couldn't have been there for those 4 years. If the covenant saw a human vessel enter a "holy" planets orbit they would destroy it no matter how damaged. And it'd be really hard to miss half of a giant spacecraft in orbit for 4 years. Actually, Cortana doeasnt die from her old age, she would have survived and got back to halsey, but going trough thoose portals on requiem collapsed her. Even then she would have survived, but she had to sacrifice herself to defeat the Didact.
