If you dip your PVC pipes in some cooking oil it will make it easier to slide into the buckets. Greetings from Sydney Australia. If you have a problem with algae then paint your buckets black on the outside, 2 or more layers of spray on paint.
Use a LITTLE olive or cooking oil on your pvc, this helps them when inserting in grommets. It does dry over time so slippage is not an issue. Just slightly wet with oil a paper towel to apply. Small amounts.

I am going to help you out with some tips before things go bad for you, 1st I would get rid of those copper valves as copper will be bad for the fish and benifitial bacteria later down the road and I recommend using top hat gromets on the fill lines with 1/8 th inch tubing going to each bucket from the grommets and your buckets won't over fill as they might with your current setup. 2nd I would definitely paint or cover the buckets as they are white and algae will takeover otherwise also down the road 3rd with that many buckets you probably don't need a solids filter and instead just add red wigglers to the buckets but that will depend on your fish stocking densidy. Temperatures over this can cause softening of the material and weakening of joints. CPVC on the other hand can handle temperatures up to 200 degrees F.
Hey man, love the videos and information. I'm wanting to build a system from buckets on my indoor balcony. It is a small balcony so I'm thinking 5-6 buckets only. It is somewhat heated. I was wondering if I can use the fish tank rocks they sell in most pet stores would work for the system or do they compact too much? We are missionaries in Ukraine so can't find a bunch of the materials you have. I'm going to order the gromets and think PE-X floor heating tubing for the water lines. Any before construction advice would be appreciated.

Strawberries need a PH of 5.5. Your not going to be able to grow strawberries on the same water supply as everything else. I grow strawberries in hydroponics and you have to check PH every time you add water to the system because tap water is around 7PH. Good video. I have a similar setup but mine is one cinder block high and spread out a little more. I buried my water tank in the ground because in the summer I want to keep the water as cool as possible. One more thing is I bought Black buckets to keep alga from growing and them painted them white to keep them cooler. Good luck.
Rookie move on the drain holes. Too small and get clogged with roots if you have any bigger plants. Go big on drain hole so flow does not get blocked with roots and you have flooding.
SheerasPlace 2" and up from bottom of bucket to a height inside the bucket of 2". Bottom of bucket is flat for better seal, the side of bucket has too much curvature. Grommet size can be ordered online.
Dear we need 24hour pumping? Or we can attach a solar panel for pumping the water from the fish tank because we can reduce the cost of electricity. Only day time on and night time off. It’s possible or not??
I mean maybe? You would have to add a lot of airstones into the fishtank tho. The water going thru the buckets removes the solid waste and disturbs the water so it gets air in it. If you shut it off for hours at a time your fish will suffocate
I like the idea of the bucket system it seem a little redundant tho why not just build a 2’ tall by one wide but how ever long 13 buckets would be 13’ like a long plants box put liner in one drain one fill 90% less labor 90% less material.
Hmm, that's a very good idea. But if you want to expand or reduce the growing capacity then having separate buckets makes sense too. I wonder what purpose the interior 90 degree PVC elbow serves?

sorry but your buckets are way to close...they need to be spread apart. Also the benches are way too high given your greenhouse height. And, you really don't need 5 gal bucket - 3 gal will do for tomatoes, peppers, beans - lettuce and greens really only need 1 gal and do best in large rectangular 6" plastic tub.

The height limits the growth potential of the tomatoes and therefore limits their ability to absorb the maximum amount of light, reducing yields.
In some places, believe it or not, it's hard to find 3 gallon buckets. I have never seen 3 gallon buckets in any of the stores near me. I guess someone could have them shipped, but then there are usually shipping costs.

Why brass valves? It will leach copper to the water. Not sure if it will bother the plants or fish.

And I think it would kill the beneficial bacteria in the buckets as they need to stay wet

White pipe is PVC not ABS (is black). You are more likely OCD than ADD.
