There's a debate as to whether or not Christ would have become incarnate if it had not been to rectify original sin? (Addressed beginning at about 37:30 .) Thanks for bringing this up. I always recall the words sung at the Easter Vigil, the Exaltant: "...o happy fault ..." I've only known the Thomistic view since becoming Catholic over 25 years ago. This makes perfect sense to me. Without atoning for sin God could become Man so that our mortal bodies can ascend to God. I'll listen some more now.
