I moved to America at 17 from UK. I learned from watching and listening to people around me. Then I had a tutor teach me the differences in our terminologies, formation of American words and slang. 20 years later I am now what's called bidialectal. My English and American accent switches up depending on what I say and I barely notice it.😂😂
