This is heartbreaking. My mom had undiagnosed early onset dementia and was very forgetful at age 67. She forgot my youngest was watching tv in the basement and told me he was playing outside. I had just come home from work and looked all around the neighborhood for him. I ended up calling the police, convinced my 4 year old had been kidnapped. Police questioned my mom and nothing clicked in her head that my son was in the basement. Long story short, while everyone was searching the neighborhood, my son ran upstairs. I fell to the floor in shock and relief. After that day, I forced my mom to go get checked out by her doctor. Never allowed her to babysit again . 😕 Maybe Tracey Nix has dementia or alzheimers..
Why this parent trusted her mom to watch her child after the 1st one died in her care is so confusing to me. I couldn't/wouldn't trust her ever again!!
What completely unavoidable errand on the part of the baby's mother could have possibly necessitated leaving a second child with a parent who it unfortunately has been proven by a life-ending tragedy CANNOT - be it due to dementia or alcoholism or whatever, be entrusted with the care and life of a small child?
Two times! Is she addicted to something? Why would you ask a person to babysit your child when she already killed one before by neglect. What's wrong with the parents?
So WRONG the jury won’t be told about the other grandchild who died in her care within the same year! 😡 If Nix gets acquitted, when the jury finds out about that first death, they’ll feel absolutely miserable that justice wasn’t served.
It makes me crazy when they exclude evidence. I was on a jury and voted not guilty for the defendant. The prosecution was pressing charges because the person that it affected did not want to press charges. After the trial I found out he was in jail already for a different crime. If I would have known that,it may have affected my vote. I can’t say that it would have or not, but to excluding evidence does not give a juror the full picture.
Just because someone is there (physically present) at the house (if he was even there when she left the baby) doesn't mean they have been given that responsibility. Seems like he didn't even know the baby was in the car earlier than he did. I'm pretty sure he would have gotten her out especially seeing as what had already happened with her brother 😩 Also, it was said she hadn't been watching her because of that incident and she was only mom's "emergency babysitter" for her hair appointment. So one would think he wouldn't have expected her to be there either 😏
If he knew his wife was sitting for the baby, he could take responsibility as an extra set of eyes/hands. The other sister had left her 5 year old there with the Grandparents and he was running wild unsupervised!
How are they leaving out the death of the first grandchild. The system is screwed up!! The truth needs to be told. These jurors are going to be pist. She should take her jail sentence. She's evil she belongs in jail and shouldn't want a trial. I pray someone on the jury can see through this cereal killer. She's probably jealous of her daughter for some reason.
Hopefully at least one person on the jury breaks the rules and finds out about the first grandchild!! otherwise they're just going to say it was a terrible accident. This is crazy. What's wrong with the daughter??
I’m a grandma, and this is unfathomable to me. I’m MORE careful with my grands than I was with my own kids, and I was very careful with them. If the first one was an accident, she should never have agreed to do it again with any other. And the mother?! She ought to be charged with neglect. You don’t leave your kids with negligent people. (Aside from naming her kid Uriel, wtf?) But I am suspicious that this is more than negligence. Fool me once..this is very possibly deliberate. Not manslaughter, but murder.
I REALLY REALLY think it's unfair that the jury doesn't get to hear about previous death. I don't think she did it intentionally (like S Boone), but for fairness, nothing should be hidden like that. After this is over and jury hears about that, they will be upset. This is a tough case because I'm a Grama it breaks my heart. But something has to be wrong mentally (dementia?) wrong with her. I don't know is I think she should go to jail because she WILL suffer already forever, but man... tough case. Curious to hear how her daughter feels about this, that is what would sway my opinion. 😢so awful all the way around.
How do these things keep happening !!?? I don't understand ? This Happens way too often ! Who leaves a little child in a hot car !? The thought of what he went thru that last hour is unthinkable !!! Smh 👎 I don't get it ? How are people so reckless
Look it up, in some cases it’s negligent and it other cases it’s literally life being so overwhelming or a change in the routine that causes the brain to do strange things. I don’t think it could ever happen to me but it could literally happen to anyone. Look it up. It’s crazy what our brain can do.
Question? How could a grandmother who was so attentive during the luncheon could have "quickly" forgotten a baby that was in her custody? Also after the discovery, the grandfather performed CPR while the grandmother left because she could not stomach what had happened. ?????
Mom should never have asked her mother to babysit Yuri, especially after losing a child under her care already. I honestly am not comfortable with this case. Grandma may genuinely have forgotten.
I'm sorry if someone forgot about my child and they drown.. that person would never be qualified in my mind to ever watch any of my other children again.
It seems to me that the parents of the baby want to get rid of their children , bc how can you trust someone to watch ANOTHER child of yours when they’ve killed the first one ? That doesn’t make any sense , no GOOD parent would ever entrust someone after their kid died on their watch . There’s something off here
Because the defense successfully argued that it would prejudice the jury more than inform them. (I don’t agree, but that’s probably why the judge excluded it. Also, prosecutors cannot admit evidence if prior crimes if it goes to character.
I do not understand Taking the sleeping drug while watching the kids unless like I said previously she is in serious cognitive decline and is forgetting they are with her.
This is terrible, she will be found not guilty bcs her negligence in the first death is not allowed to be presented to the jury. This is a waste of everyone’s time.
Maybe I'm on my own but I cannot believe that this was an intentional act. It makes zero sense to deliberately kill a baby this way. Taking the other 'killing' into consideration I can only think there is something seriously wrong with this woman. I don't know if she has cognitive issues or she has some kind of personality disorder but I am astounded the parents let her babysit again after the first death. I'm not saying that was deliberate either but surely that death proved she has issues.

That's what I was thinking too. My grandma was about that age as well. She didn't make it very long after she was first showing signs.😢
She's been tested nothing wrong with her apart from not loving her family enough to care.
Daughter's hair.
Why not plead guilty and avoid the public humiliation.
Most importantly avoid the trial for the parents that have to go through the trial and autopsy pictures, testimony, etc.
OMG! After the first child died! I wouldn’t have left another child in her care! Give her life in prison with no possibility of parole!
Two times! Is she addicted to something? Why would you ask a person to babysit your child when she already killed one before by neglect. What's wrong with the parents?
i probably would've tried to forgive my mother after the first but there's no way she's watching the child without me
“She called her mother. Who else would you call”
Perhaps someone different than the person responsible for my first child’s death.
So WRONG the jury won’t be told about the other grandchild who died in her care within the same year! 😡
If Nix gets acquitted, when the jury finds out about that first death, they’ll feel absolutely miserable that justice wasn’t served.
It would definitely have an impact on their verdict.
MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY!💯💯💯💯
They probably know from prior news reports or friends, but the court will not allow them to use the first death in their opinion…..wink, wink.
So I guess you also don't believe in the Constitution... Nice 👀🤦😬
@@dennisshaw4112😂😂😂 That's illegal half-wit. They can't know or it's a hung jury. What an idiot.
How did this woman’s own children survive her, what seems to be, at best, sheer incompetence?
NOPE NOPE NOPE I WOULDNT FORGET MY PET IN A CAR NOPE
It makes me crazy when they exclude evidence. I was on a jury and voted not guilty for the defendant. The prosecution was pressing charges because the person that it affected did not want to press charges. After
the trial I found out he was in jail already for a different crime. If I would have known that,it may have affected my vote. I can’t say that it would have or not, but to excluding evidence does not give a juror the full picture.
How is the past incident not admissible 😢
Laws have been rewritten to protect criminals.
That alone would make a difference in jury’s decision, they should take a look @the 1st death
Because criminals have more rights then poor victims
SO... I guess no one here believes in the Constitution...👀🤦Yikes 😬
Grandpa was also there for both deaths, why isn't he held responsible too?
Just because someone is there (physically present) at the house (if he was even there when she left the baby) doesn't mean they have been given that responsibility. Seems like he didn't even know the baby was in the car earlier than he did. I'm pretty sure he would have gotten her out especially seeing as what had already happened with her brother 😩
Also, it was said she hadn't been watching her because of that incident and she was only mom's "emergency babysitter" for her hair appointment. So one would think he wouldn't have expected her to be there either 😏
If he knew his wife was sitting for the baby, he could take responsibility as an extra set of eyes/hands. The other sister had left her 5 year old there with the Grandparents and he was running wild unsupervised!
Miss Nix was my fourth grade teacher. This is wild.
What was her personality like?
You’re lucky she wasn’t your grandmother
How are they leaving out the death of the first grandchild. The system is screwed up!! The truth needs to be told. These jurors are going to be pist.
She should take her jail sentence. She's evil she belongs in jail and shouldn't want a trial. I pray someone on the jury can see through this cereal killer. She's probably jealous of her daughter for some reason.
Both of her grandchildren gone under her watch!!!!!!! I felt so bad about the totality of the tragedy but 2 grandkids!!!!!!!!! wtf
The fact the first child’s passing not permissible in court is absurd, jury NEEDS to know this is a pattern!
HINT: the grandfather LEFT the loose toddler in the house with his wife asleep. why is HE not being charged also????
Where was he? Wife asleep & toddler loose: and he just left?!
😂😂😂 No he didn't. Did you even watch the video. Or do you just get off on making dumb things up.
Hopefully at least one person on the jury breaks the rules and finds out about the first grandchild!! otherwise they're just going to say it was a terrible accident. This is crazy. What's wrong with the daughter??
This person needs to be in prison to keep children safe.
(Aside from naming her kid Uriel, wtf?)
But I am suspicious that this is more than negligence.
Omg 2 in her care? I couldn't live with myself. Plead giulty ffs.
All terrible people, who should have never been in charge of taking care of children.
This lady had too much going on she should not have been watching children
1 is an accident. 2 is a pattern.
💯
How do these things keep happening !!?? I don't understand ? This Happens way too often ! Who leaves a little child in a hot car !? The thought of what he went thru that last hour is unthinkable !!! Smh 👎
I don't get it ? How are people so reckless
Drugs, alcohol, and selfishness
She’s responsible for two dead kids and l really don’t think they were accidentally.
All the Bible study and church going is not bringing this poor child back.
Exactly.
Why is she slightly grinning in the mug shot? She doesn’t even look upset?!!!!!! This is a seriously dangerous woman imo. Unreal.
I don't think information should ever be left out of a case jury needs all info not some .
😂😂😂 It's called the Constitution. Read it.
2nd time? I would never have trusted her with a child again such a tragedy
The parents are guilty at this point 😢
I'm sorry if someone forgot about my child and they drown.. that person would never be qualified in my mind to ever watch any of my other children again.
I hope they had a neurologist or neuropsychologist evaluate the grandmother.
I can’t believe she didn’t plead guilty! She needs to atone for what she’s done!
It seems to me that the parents of the baby want to get rid of their children , bc how can you trust someone to watch ANOTHER child of yours when they’ve killed the first one ? That doesn’t make any sense , no GOOD parent would ever entrust someone after their kid died on their watch . There’s something off here
why would they keep the drowning of the other child out?
Because it's prejudicial and she wasn't charged with a anything in that instance... It was ruled an accident. It's the law. 😊
Because the defense successfully argued that it would prejudice the jury more than inform them. (I don’t agree, but that’s probably why the judge excluded it. Also, prosecutors cannot admit evidence if prior crimes if it goes to character.
Because it was ruled out as accidental because of the laws in Florida. They should still bring it up though!
the mom should be charged for something for letting her mother care for her daughter after she knew her mom did this once already
Agree.
I do not understand Taking the sleeping drug while watching the kids unless like I said previously she is in serious cognitive decline and is forgetting they are with her.
This is really very sad case
There is something way wrong if she thinks a 7 month old can drink through a straw.
This is terrible, she will be found not guilty bcs her negligence in the first death is not allowed to be presented to the jury. This is a waste of everyone’s time.
GMA has to have memory issues.
Or drinking issues
When the first child died she was sleeping for 10 hours because she took ambien.
@@candyorange266Why take an ambien knowing you’re caring for a child?
@@candyorange266 Where did you find that? That's insane! She is purposefully neglectful!
I agree. I can't fathom. There has to be something more seriously wrong with her, I sure can't guess what at this point.
possibly culpable negligent homicide thenif she was so dangerous why we're both daughter's letting her babysit
Right
Because they are not intelligent and lazy?
I think they should let the jury know about the brother. perhaps grandma has a hidden evil side.
If this happened before, the liability should lie with the parent
EMS attendant said he found it unusual the baby had a wooly winter onesie on in such heat.
The only thing the grandmother is guilty of is not saying,”””NO”””, to her daughter.
WTF, do I get it right? TWO children died in here care???
This case is so heartbreaking.
I can't help feeling sorry for the grandmother..... It's devastating.
@ I really don’t know how to feel. Find weird that she went to trial, but haven’t seen enough to judge it. I just think is so heartbreaking for all.
I still believe the grandmother has undiagnosed cognitive decline.
Was she tested???
