  • In this video I demonstrate how to play the song I can't Drive 55 by Sammy Hagar. This is a great song to learn and a classic hard rock heavy metal song, and probably could be argued it is Sammy Hagar's best solo song as well as most successful. The iconic video of Sammy Hagar getting busted by the police is also a classic! There are some cool guitar parts to learn in this song and some need chugging grooves, as well as a solid bluesy solo from Sammy Hagar himself! I hope you enjoy the video. Please subscribe!

Aging myself by saying I saw him in concert on this tour (VOA). Standing Hampton still the best Hagar album top to bottom (IMHO). Thanks for all the content you keep bringing out!

@@Ranch5150SkinWalkerThat’s awesome man. Nine on a ten scale is really underrated in my opinion. Very classic 70s rock feel but I love it beginning to end.

Thanks for sharing this lesson with us man. This song is a lot of fun, reminds me of the days when I was far younger listening to this tune in my 85 TransAm t-tops off in the summer getting followed by local law enforcement. 😂 Driving the 84 Corvette windows town, roof panel off jamming to Sammy and or VH. I got a disturbing the peace ticket 18 years old still have the misdemeanor on my permanent record for playing VH "too loud." What a dumb kid, I should have gone to court and fought that! Thought for sure we'd see the yellow OU812 guitar today with the Sammy lesson. 😁 Keep Rockin' Marty, you rock man. 😁👍🏻

Dude a misdemeanor for that? Damn. Well I guess that's pretty cool though lol. Makes a great story!

@@Ranch5150SkinWalker Yeah the officer said "What were you listening to so loud son." I said sir I wasn't listening to rap or anything like these kids, I was listening to Van Halen sir. He said "well, if it was Conway Twitty I would have let you go but Van Halen no can do." I was afraid to see the judge and paid the $40 fine at the PD to get it out of my hair. Later on in life I actually didn't get a pharmaceutical sales position over this on my record. Lawyer said that I could have it expunged but at this stage in my life I let it go for now. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Thanks for a great lesson - I was just listening to this song a few days ago.
It's a nice palate cleanser to learn a non-Van Halen song that I can pick up most of it in real time playing along with your video!!!
Trying to play the EVH tunes ties my fingers and brain in knots sometimes!!!!! 😵‍💫 (But that's what I love about them !)
You always break down the songs into bite-size chunks and explain them really well making tricky tunes accessible and feel possible!!
Great Channel ! Keep up the great work !

Unrelated question, hope you don't mind.
I was watching the movie Tombstone again last night and I noticed that as the Earps were leaving Tombstone after the big fight the number on their rail car was 5150. I hadn't paid any attention to it before but they do make it stand out a little. Wonder if there is any significance to that?
Historically correct or possibly EVH fans? The directors, not the Earps. 😊

How do u make all your guitars sound so good? Is it the amp, pickups or both? And thanks for showing me a new metal chord.

  • @briank6789
    @briank6789 Год назад

Love your videos, but I'm gonna respectfully be "that guy" here. In the intro, I think you're hitting the A chord one too many times. It should go back to the E a beat sooner. When you're hitting the 5th strum on the A, that beat should be the E. Only 4 strums on the A chord. But you earned a sub from me!

I thought I remembered hearing a whammy bar in that song.
Now I can’t remember if he used one. 🤔
It’s not really relevant to the song anyway. 👍

You know man, I think he does some whammy dips on the last note of the solo especially live. I've seen it love so many times it's hard to separate live from studio lol!
