    Oh man that colour relativity WOW moment with the sand coming in, haha. That never ever ceases to blow my mind. But yeah I really loved this one, and def preferred your building design there to the original!

      Thanks! Ya, me too on the color relativity. Such a simple but powerful tool. I had to share it since so few people talk about it

    The reference picture has pink/purple tones that indicate a pre-dawn time when the sun's just below the horizon and projecting all those warm, pink colors through the atmosphere. Your picture has a cooler, greener tone reminescent of when the sun is done rising over the horizon and all the colours have started to cool down to blue.

      Yup, those type of small adjustments really do play into telling a different story. Great observing!!

    Yes please! I would love to see your suggestions for photography! I have been attempting to apply your instructions on color and light (specifically the 6 types of light in your Art of Unseeing video) to my photography post-processing. It's been very helpful, though I could really use some help with the subsurface scatter lighting and ways to add atmospheric lighting that looks natural. Your videos are so incredibly helpful and I've been sharing your site with friends who draw and photograph--all have spoken highly of your teaching style and content. Thanks so much for making your channel available!

    I have started doing 15 minute studies like this again, thanks to you, and I've been having a great time! Thanks for the reminder that study =/= full illustration. And thank you as well for starting a RUclips, though I'm late to join seeing it's already March when I found you. I wish you much (RUclips) success! Cheers!

    I'm really enjoying doing these color studies with you. Our pieces end up looking so different and it's cool to compare our brushwork and areas of focus.
    Thank you for creating this series!

    Bro I’ve biiinged on your videos today and I have learned so so much. Thank you! I did my first study of an Apple and learned a ton from it. Light, shadow and Atmosphere has always beeen my nemesis but I want to lose the fear of it and this is how I ended up here. Thank you for sharing this knowledge. Specially for us who maybe cannot pay to go to art school 😢 my commitment with this channel is to try to make at least 2-3 studies a week and progress to speed light painting like this to keep learning. I’m using procreate since it’s very comfy and because I like having that tablet on the go.❤but I’m learning my way around since I was also raised in photoshop 😅thank from from Mexico!

    wow! I just got mind blowed when you add the warm sand color and the green grass. (in my illustration, I been struggling in that, i think how do i add colors into an atmosphere, I was creating new layer for each color and changing there blending mode, and i wasn't satisfied with the results. now you gave me the solution)
    thanks a lot for that, and for your videos, and i like your teaching method.

    Amazing content as usual! One tiny request/suggestion: Maybe reduce the timer to about 25%? The movement is way distracting, and my eye much rather be drawn to your brush movements. Hope this comment doesn’t come off as a buzz kill. I just love your material and presentation Jeremy - Thanks so much.

    Geeze, I’m trying to follow along with you, but I find that I struggle so much with the texture of everything. I think this is because I use a flat brush, which I love the flat brush. But, it’s time to try a different one 😅

    Very challenging but very nicely done Jeremy. One comment: The blue sky seems to have the slightest tone of pink to me, but I don't know if this is an artifact from the video compression. Thank you for great lessons!

    I love this misty beach scene! I wonder if and how I could implement this digital painting technique in my acrylic painting on canvas?

    • @LightingMentor
      @LightingMentor  Год назад +1

      Yes indeed! I have done a lot of acrylic as well as oil and I use a very similar technique. There are some differences but it does work. Let me know how it goes for you.

  • @chrismakrinos6798
    @chrismakrinos6798 Год назад

    How would you accomplish these studies if you weren't using an infinite digital color palette? Would it be useful to do them in pencil, watercolor, etc. or is that missing the point? Thank you!

    • @LightingMentor
      @LightingMentor  Год назад +1

      If doing these in pencil it would be more of a value study rather than color, but still could be useful. Watercolors are tough as they dry so fast and it's hard to push and pull back and forth between light and dark. I feel watercolor takes more planning and time to master as it's less forgiving. But the concepts of light apply either way and learning to see what light does will help with your art in any medium. Does this answer your question?

    what after this is done whats the next step

    • @LightingMentor
      @LightingMentor  Год назад +1

      So if you are just doing a study you can take more time to keep refining details. But the next step after these speed studies is to learn to "extract" light and materials from references and start applying to new artwork. I have a new set of videos about it coming soon (after i finish some work on this tv show I'm completing)
