I cannot imagine how tough it is to pursue a career in music when your Dad was Waylon F'ing Jennings. I give Shooter credit. His material and style seem to be largely his own if not some small omage to his Pops. BTW - This is a great road tripping song!
I spent July 4th 1996 with someone very special. At the time, I assumed it would be the first of many. There was never another. I wonder where she is now. And I wonder if she ever thinks about me the same way I still think of her. It's such a shame that the magic we shared only lasted a short while.
Love this song and shooter Jennings songs and music but there is one thing I would love to hear and that would be to hear him make a album singing and playing some of his dad's Hits make a album that would be so awesome!!! Waylon Jennings to me is the best and greatest singer and writer and guitar player ever I love to lessen to all his music he ever put out and the sad thing about it is I never got to attend a Waylon Jennings show I regret that more than anything else in this world and to see and hear shooter do a show with just his dad's songs would really really be the greatest thing I could ever attend for the rest of my life!!!! RIP Waylon Jennings the best ever In this business!!!!
I saw a Shooter Jennings open for Skynyrd years back. Always loved this song. I feel like the tempo in this version is a little bit faster than normal, I dig it. 👍for real music.
Ha I was out celebrating my day off birth about a month before this show and stumbled into Filthy McNastys (just a couple blocks from Billy Bob's here) and noticed the featured entertainment for the night was Shooter's bassist Ted Russell Kamp. Super nice guy and was excited to do this live album. I noticed him from shows but his name from Shooters 1st live CD, Shooter Jennings and the .357s Live at Irving Plaza. Being my drunk self I bought a bunch of his merch and talked his ear off about Shooter. He had fairly recently released 'Outlaw You' so I asked him ab that. He's from Binghamton which was part of my territory when I lived in PA it was 40 minutes north of Scranton just across the NY line. Haha Binghamton is also famous for Shawn Michaels getting the absolute tar beat out of him by a pissed off Marine. He was messed up so bad that nobody could cover for him when they got to Syracuse bc was too obvious. From what I read, The dude might as well have tarred and feathered him the carnage was so bad. And he was just minding his biznass. In today's day and age of cell phones, HBK would never have had the same career bc constantly getting his ass beat wouldn't be a good look for 'world champ'. Funny thing is that drunk fake tough guys usually like to pick fights with wrestlers. In HBKs case, he'd harass a dude's girlfriend so badly he was begging to get knocked the hell out.
This melody was our song. I gave the track to a friend at Clemson in 1999 whose Dad was an A&R guy in Nashville.. and then this surfaced years later. I guess we made it after all. And our version was better lol. But clever plagiarism is always flattering. Thanks 🙏
This song reminds of traveling up north to the white mountains and getting a weekend getaway from the scorching 118⁰ cruising through the tall pine trees getting the fresh air ❤
Hail Shooter!! I asked him to marry me at the surf ballroom in clear lake Iowa..babe, you know...uh huh...love him and grew up listening to his papa in the tractor but the rebel in me loves Shooter!
I know this is an old comment but the official music video is here on RUclips. Just search Shooter Jennings 4th Of July and it should be the first thing that pops up. That's how I ended up at this particular video
He sings as good as Tim McGraw or Keith Urban or that Florida Georgia line shit, which isn't saying much but he's certainly as good as a lot of the so called singers on country radio today.
Gawd I love this song! Bought it as soon as I heard it on XM10 America!@ ( R.I.P XM 10 America)
Never a fourth of July without this song have to hear it while I blast my fireworks
First song I ever heard Shooter sing and I still love it! ❤
This has been on of my favorites since it came out! Hell yeah Shooter!
Happy fourth y’all🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🎶🎶🎶🪨🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Only just found this song, but paired paired with Kid Rock's "Born Free", it's a song pairing made in heaven!!
He ain't Waylon, that's for sure.
That's my old professor on the drums. Mr. Jamie Douglas
It's a great song.
I love his music! Little country lotta rock 💯❤️❤️
We love you 💜 shooter 🎶🙏

I’m not American but this song makes me feel like I am
Hey shooter, if you are going to be the voice BE THEVOICE!
Classic!!!
Better than that garbage on the radio
Hail Shooter!! I asked him to marry me at the surf ballroom in clear lake Iowa..babe, you know...uh huh...love him and grew up listening to his papa in the tractor but the rebel in me loves Shooter!
GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
💙💗💙💯
Who is the woman playing the fiddle
It's me! Aubrey Richmond.
Now THIS is real music!
Someone PLEASE tell me how to find the original video! It was awesome!
buy it on iTunes for a buck 50. that was the only place i could find it
I am so disappointed, I usually watch it every 4th of July and I could not find it this year.
Search it. It's here on RUclips. Just watched it before coming to this video
Where is the video for this song ? HELP a sister out !!!
It is no longer available..had it liked. Then it was taken away.
I know this is an old comment but the official music video is here on RUclips. Just search Shooter Jennings 4th Of July and it should be the first thing that pops up. That's how I ended up at this particular video
beards are strong with this one
What a great artist and Waylon done good!
R.i.p agp 😎
Godbless peace.
I love this song and many others from Shoter. But is voice in concert always sunds too weak to me...
I don't care what you say...This most certainly is not ear candy. Shooter couldn't carry a tune in a bucket ...
D. Scott Whitaker pretty sure you can’t either... but that’s none of my business
Ok scott
Shooter sounded tired!
Dont know what the fuck you're hearing, Goober. This is a good performance of this song.
Wrong emphasis on the wrong notes. The crew didn't help any!
I will give for free. Talk to me.
I like some of Shooter's stuff but he's a lousy singer and would never even be in show biz if he wasn't the son of a country legend. JMO of course.
Nick Landry Either way the guy is making a career making music. Doesnt matter how he got there.
@@lraiolo Maybe. I'd argue that it does matter how he got there but you are correct, he's doing it and people pay to see and hear it so there's that.
He sings as good as Tim McGraw or Keith Urban or that Florida Georgia line shit, which isn't saying much but he's certainly as good as a lot of the so called singers on country radio today.
He’s the real deal
Poor kid milkman’s son? Cause he don’t sing a bit like daddy
I know music. You good but could be better. No shit.
