"Some songs on their own are not always that interesting, and that's okay." I really appreciate that you don't mindlessly gush over every track, or throw around the words "genius" and "iconic" and "legendary" etc etc. Your vids are low-key (no lame pun intended) and straightforward and sensible and always interesting. Enjoying your Feel Flows stuff...!
Brian added a couple of vocal things to give Add Some Music some identity. He took the 'dom dom dom dom be doos' from Roy Orbison's Only The Lonely and used them as bgv's in the verses. He also took the 'bom bom a dlddle its' from The Cadillac's Speedo and turned that into a vocal hook that's featured throughout the song.
I love this video, and agree that "Add Some Music" is not the most interesting song- except for 2 parts: the first is when the music suddenly changes and Carl sings the line "Music when you're alone is alike a companion for your soul" with a lovely long-held final note which segues into Brian singing different music again with the line "When day is done I close my tired eyes, music is in my soul", and then the song returns to the bland verses. I guess the 2 parts I'm referring to could be called some sort of "double chorus". At any rate, I've always felt these 2 little parts are an oasis of profundity in a sea of blandness, an ironic situation, so I was surprised when you didn't mention them. Just an observation, not a critical comment, since I love your videos.
I personally love this song but I respect your opinion. Would you ever consider doing a 12-string guitar tutorial? I can never quite get the intro right and I think someone of your talent might be able to fill the gaps for me :)

The bridge certainly elevates this song with some appealing chord changes.
Really enjoying your videos. Just discovered them last night. Appreciate your knowledge and sharing it!
One thing I always liked about this track is how Brian's voice cracks a little bit on the line about day being over. Very fitting to me.

The “bom bom diddles” are my favourite part of the song. Such a cute little adlib
Yes,, it's hooky, but its not an ad lib. It is part of the vocal arrangement. Brian got that figure from The Cadillac's, SPEEDO.
haven't been commenting on this series a lot but i'm realy digging it!

Fair enough -- and honestly, I kind of forgot about that part when I was conceiving of the video, so, whoops!

I don’t have anything like her talent, but did make a runthrough of that part. in case it’s helpful: ruclips.net/video/9YYOkHlPrrI/видео.html
Could you do a musical analysis of God Only Knows? I.e. why do the diminished and half diminished chords fit so perfectly in that song?
Soon enough!
