I've seen you compare usage of lightsabers to the European longsword. After watching a few of your videos and seeing some competition ones, I don't see much of a similarity. In most competitions you see more of a "fencing stance" with the back foot planted behind a forward foot. Yet in the teachings videos and this video, you teach a forward "mother stance" where both feet are planted apart. How do you apply this mother stance to bouts?

Mother stance is footwork neutral. It is where we go to learn new sword vocabulary before we integrate with footwork :)
The fencing lunge is simply an extreme example of a forward stance, and it’s part of most combat sports.
In this case, because of the exclusion of thrusting and unarmed techniques in lightsaber tournament, the selection of longsword techniques available is more limited than in a traditional event.
So it will look different, with some similarities.
Mother stance is not a combat stance.
It is a pre combat stance for drills and meditation 🙏🏽
