    Thanks for the video. Very interested in the 101D. Can you please do a tripod video and go through the menu's? A nice 15-20 min walk through. Curious about the CW decoder. Appears to be a great radio just want to see waterfall 2D speed and customization options. Very excited to see another great radio. Currently feel the 7610, 890S, and now the 101D are great options in the mid tier. If only I was local I would have been there already for a test drive. FYI - love my 7610 just like variety.

    One more question.... I have not seen any information or videos about the 101D's abilities in regards to CW Encode/Decode. Is this possible? I know the new Kenwood 890s has that capability along with the older 3000. Does the 101d do this?

    Today... A demo of an HF radio is just to see the screen, the fancy colors, a fast moving waterfall window, a bandscope etc.... I remember the good old days when we could just hear how the radio is transforming radio waves into sweet BF AUDIO ! Let's hear the real thing, I don't mind having colors on a 65in LCD screen.

      Seems to me it would be difficult to use the outer tuning ring without changing the main vfo. Wish the scope had averaging on it. It’s my only grips. Just hate to spend a lot of money and be disappointed ☹️

    Mark.... can I verify something with you? I am understanding in your video that you have the 101D hooked up to a computer monitor AND also to a larger screen on the wall?
    you mentioned doing this through the USB jack? SO BOTH? Both at the same time? very cool if this is the case.

      I have checked out the configuration of the FTDX-101D in our retail location.
      The capability of the FTDX-101D to utilize two displays is attributed to an external HDMI splitter/switch. The switch we have in line is a 4 X 2 True Matrix High Speed HDMI powered switch. The functionality of this switch allows the rig’s display to be split into two signals, and therefore, be displayed on two different screens simultaneously.
      On its own, the FTDX-101D does not allow for dual displays.

      Robert Nagy I personally think Yaesu builds better performing radios than Icom, a lot of guys are digging the IC-7300. I thought I wanted one, but after hearing a lot of eham.net reviews, it sounds like the receiver has a lot of room for improvements. Others say it's really noisy in confined areas. I feel like I've "grown out" the Christmas light displays and prefer to "hear and be heard" as the number one reason to own a radio, not bells and whistles. I love my Yaesu FT-891 for ssb phone. It's very Yaesu-ish menu wise. Easy to operate. Cheers!

    • @robertnagy2163
      @robertnagy2163 5 лет назад

      I hear you Scott. Luckily, we have plenty to choose from. I've been Icom heavy for many years, but I own a couple Yaesus and a Kenwood. I disagree on the scope though. Once you have "sight", it is impossible to go back. The Ic-7300 is a break through in price/performance because it IS an SDR. The scope is small, but it is fast and usable. Almost everyone suffers from local noise these days. You won't be able to enjoy a RX that is super-quiet unless you live way out in the country. Almost all of the current HF offerings provide superb HF performance...you really cannot go wrong with any of them.

    • @scotthansenmtbt4110
      @scotthansenmtbt4110 5 лет назад

      Robert Nagy you are right about lots of good choices. What works for one guy, might not for another. I'm excited about what the future holds for ham radio. The Yaesu FT-857 was a truly remarkable radio in its day. It can surely be updated now, but when it first came out, it was "space age" compared to radios from older generations. Back during WWII, a radio with basic controls would take up a whole truck, just for a radio and batteries. Now a radio with way more power and features can fit inside a small and tiny backpack. I like the fact that Icom and Yaesu compete so heavily.. That's good news for radio geeks!
      I would like to see Kenwood step up a little more, and innovate better, and be more affordable. It seems like they have been coasting a little, and not taking it as seriously as I would like. Am I wrong, or missing something here?

      No redeeming qualities? I liked that 3D display. Interesting not only to see the current band but to see the recent history also. I like this presentation better than a waterfall. More intuitive to me. I'm trying to remember an old piece of software that used to do something very similar. Oh! Wasn't it one of the WinAMP used it for visualization? It was interesting to see the various instruments and timing.
      I don't know about the receiver's other specs but I'm hoping this is more than eye candy. I'll be digging deeper.
