Jimmy Bryan was the National Driving Champion in 1956 and 1957. So I am sure that Jimmy signed this flag before the 1958 race as the reigning series champion. Also, back then the current series champion's car bore the #1 for the following season. So not only was he the champ in 1958, his car was #1. The other drivers would not question his signing the center of the flag as he did.
His pride, that wave of nostalgia, and the significance of his validation... Watching that wash over him was worth any wait.
Exactly. It’s his heritage.
What a wonderful man.
That's why I watch these episodes.
Love his reaction to the price. So awesome.

Great point.
@@RoadshowPBS Have you / will you tell this information to the owner of the flag? Doing so would surely mean a lot to him.
Great story and well told.
Yes, a wonderful story and I just love the genuine emotion from this gentleman after he get's his appraisal...Cheers!
This is one of my favourite Antique Roadshow segments.
perfect value. it's worth a lot in more than one way, but not so much that you've got to be scared of it.
Rock On Dude 😁
I was hoping he would not say "wow"
He was probably the last one to sign it and slipped it in that spot
👍
Speedway sparkplug???
Interesting that the winner signed the flag in the middle before he won... could it have been staged? 😬
His son wants to buy a Tesla, needs $10,000.00 deposit 🤔
Counterfeit
Get out of the past fella. Guy must sleep in it.
snide remark for an undeserving soul, shame on you
What a negative thing to say. I for one luv his passion .
I'm sorry your past isn't worth remembering but moments like this, for many, are. Don't be a ****
