Ed Hooper It’s all about the When and Where for my favorite albums. When I became a fan it was 1976 so when there was a curve ball in the catalog I would be disgruntled like a MOFO!!!! Growing up with Destroyer, Dressed to Kill, Rock and Roll Over , ALIVE and then to bump into Dynasty, Unmasked, Elder and even Crazy Nights was like waking up next to a fat smelly broad😂😂🤩
I think you mean Unmasked, right? The Elder and Unmasked were the first two albums I got the remasters of if that tells you anything. She's so European and Easy as it Seems are favorites. I always thought the songwriting and concepts were special with those two. You know, the fake ass (but beautiful) girl you can't seem to shake and how it always seems like the breakup is so easy for the one person while the other is struggling with it. ruclips.net/video/SqZkFJo2D_g/видео.html
I think destoryer is the most overrated album in rock people glaze the album waaaaaay too much dont get me wrong king of the night time world and sweet pain are kick ass tracks but its Detroit rock city i have a problem with its like the most annoying song to me
I'll never argue with a KISS ranking that features "KISS Alive!," "Ace Frehley" & "Rock and Roll Over" and "Dressed To Kill" in the Top 5. They're actually my Top 4! And, in fact, I agree with most of this whole list. Only minor things I don't agree with, that I can recall, is me loving the songs "Got To Choose," "Flaming Youth," (both are KISS classics to me)..and look, I know it's a filler, but I've always kinda liked "Love Theme From KISS" as well (to me, it showed off their early ability to do an effective instrumental, and I also find the descending part of it "dark" and scary/cool, before returning to the happy/joyful central riff. Light and Shade as they say these days. Oh, yeah, and I do like "Danger" as well. It's sorta badass in it's desperate, propulsive quality! To me, the weak track on Creatures is "Keep Me Comin'" I was very happy to hear you mention "GOT LOVE FOR SALE" as a song that's grown on you. I personally adore that grinding, way cool number, with Gene at his best, and GD!...Ace Frehley's solos (BOTH of 'em) are fucking brilliant!! Finally, I liked it when you said, "I don't even have to look at the back cover," before reciting 8 out of the 9 ACE FREHLEY tracks, in correct order. Now, leaving out "Ozone" is a crime against God, but we'll forgive. Honestly, and I'm not bragging here, I can recite the ENTIRE KISS catalog, through Dynasty, without looking at 'any' back cover at all. Actually, I may be able to make it through Lick It Up! After that, forget it. I'd have to look up the stupid tracklistings online or something. I mean, don't even own "Animalize" on any format (at all)...I only have "Asylum" on LP, because Strawberries had it for $3.99 in the bargain bin (turns out to be the only decent one)..."Crazy Shitbag Nights," I think I had a cassette back then, who knows or cares, and then, "Hot in The Shade" was one of the Top 5 'most wasted new release purchases' of my music loving life. But yeah, 1973-1979 (or possibly through '83), i don't need to look at ANY back cover to announce the full tracklistings...all in order, with 0 mistakes. When I think about it, I can do this with many of the bands and artists I love and care about (DAVID BOWIE, BLACK SABBATH, LED ZEPPELIN, AC/DC, PINK FLOYD, RUSH, VH, THE CURE, YES, ROLLING STONES, many ZAPPAs, UFO, IM, JP, etc.) I honestly could. *And yes, I'm married, and have a daughter, and 3 awesome pitties 🐶🐶🐶, to keep me very (happily) busy. ⚡😎
@@almosthuman56 Hey, thanks, man. Appreciate your kind response! And yeah, if "Love Theme From KISS" included all parts of Acrobat as well, it would naturally be a sort of centerpiece track on the debut. That said, with so many classics in tow, and having BLACK DIAMOND to end it, it's probably best to be there as it is, an unappreciated tweener. You know, as to let Deuce, 100,000 Years and Black Diamond shine. ✨
Despite my avatar, my solo album order is this: Ace Gene Peter Paul It's kind of an order of whose record surprised me most. Ace, everyone doubted he could put anything together. Gene, very undemonlike Peter, pretty much what I expected, but like Ace, surprised he could do it Paul, exactly what I expected. Not one surprise.
I’m not a picklewhistler but unmasked is a very underrated album. It’s not the Love Gun or Rock and Roll Over kind of stuff that Kiss was known for but it is a damn good pop rock record. Paul, Gene, and Ace has great melodies and chorus on the album. “Tomorrow” and “Easy As it Seems” are some of the standouts in my opinion. Great fucking list though. Ace’s solo album is so damn good
Dr Fukk, 100% Ace Frehley solo is the best album with a Kiss logo on the front, still sounds amazing and innovative, very important for me... I got Dressed to Kill in second spot. Would love to hear your top ten desert island discs, hard to choose I know but would be very cool... Respect...
I'm glad you gave Asylum more of a better ranking one of my favorite albums from kiss. My First kiss concert . I seen them at the cow palace. The band w.a.s.p opening band, great show. King of the mountain kicks ass . Paul and Gene vocals were on point and listen to Eric Carr and Bruce Kulick tearing up. Secretly Cruel is one of my Favorite tracks from Gene, Listen to Bruce solo sick.
I really like "I Still Love You" on the Unplugged album. That's the album I would use to introduce KISS to women. Had that album on, after "I still love you" played, she just cowgirled the hell out of me...she didn't need foreplay, was ready after that song. So it's on my fav list : )
Great list Ralph. If i had to pick a list of least to fav would be hard for me. Love every album. But I'm not really a fan of Carnival Of Souls. But every else to me i never get tired of listening to.... Proud to be a KISS nerd 👍
I love this review, its honest rather than all the others I've seen that are just trying to please the majority. I completely agree with your point about Monster, I love that album and think it's massively underrated!
Ace Frehley is the best Kiss album. It's not a Kiss album but it is because it was marketed as a Kiss album and I agree that Rock And Roll Over is the best Kiss album with the original line up.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR RANKING THE SOLO ALBUMS AND THE LIVE RECORDS nobody covers these in kiss rankings and I would probably say this is my fav kiss ranking video so incredible dude
Thoroughly enjoyed every second of this video brother ... was so glad to see Rock and Roll Over right up there ... my all time favourite KISS album .....
"Reason to Live" has really grown on me over the years from Crazy Nights. One of the few 80s KISS songs I listen to on a regular basis along with "Heaven's On Fire"
That album took me completely by surprise. I loved it at first listen. I don't know why it's not revered very highly among others. I love it and never grow tired of it .
Agreed I remember the first time listening to it I hated it to no freakin end than I picked up maybe a year later and now it’s in my top 10 kiss albums go figure
Man, I like crazy nights! But it's nice to other people takes on these album, whether negative or not! But "crazy nights " is my 9th favorite! "Animalize" is my 2nd favorite! I agree on "Ace frehley" being the best solo!
Well my new favorite and probably permanent favorite is Creatures of the Night. Definitely the last phenomenal album from them. Lick It Up is also really fucking good too.
I agree Lick it up is Awesome. The best non makeup Era albums No 1 Lick it up No 2 Ayslum no3 Animalize no4 Revenge no 5 Crazy Nights no6 hot in the shade no7 Carnival of Souls.
I respect all of your opinions Ralph,I may disagree on some of those, but I swear on my life to not be a picklewhisler,I love your videos Ralph, keep kicking ass!!
Brilliant video, loved it. Great to see to see you pick the Ace solo album, it’s flawless. Rock And Roll Over is one of their best. I have a soft spot for Hotter Than Hell. Alive is phenomenal no doubt. The Elder is fantastic.
The way you reviewed Unmasked on the podcast made me feel you were gonna put it on the bottom. Damn I love that album and the Paul Stanley solo album. Those albums give my pickle a tickle😆😆
Ace lives about 20 minutes away from my in Rancho Santa Fe, California. It's a gated neighborhood inside a gated community. I used to do carpet installation with my uncle and we did a repair job at Joan Krock's house, the widow of McDonalds Founder Ray Krock. And no, it wasn't a McMansion, lol. He has a nice modern house on a small plot near her large plot. So, don't ever feel sorry for Ace. He's got an exclusive mansion in Rancho Santa Fe, a beuatiful young lady and all kinds of cars and toys. I'm not saying he hasn't earned it but dont feel that just cause he's not in the main lineup, that he's in the dumps. Shmackahmagob
Ace was the Keith Richards of Kiss and that album kicks ass. my fav's from my childhood will always be Destroyer and the totally underrated The Elder. Under The Rose is Totally Epic

Dude your scaring the shit out of me. (Another video you did where we’re on the same freq. ) You and I are in 100% agreement on the top 3 KISS Records. Rock & Roll Over is their best studio album. Only difference is I Put Alive 3rd, Ace 2nd and Rock & Roll Over definitely number 1. I think you had Dressed to Kill as number 4? If so, absolutely right again. Great video. I think I need to start checking out your other channels and Facebook. (Then get my fellow Metal Warrior Veterans to check out your stuff too) 🤘😎
I really like your knowledge and enthusiasm. Great video. One of the facts about Ace that people don’t know is that Ace had an intestinal problem that caused him to have massive amounts of gas. There were times during concerts that the other members of kiss could not be around Ace because of the gas. Ace did not make any excuses, but readily admitted he had some intestinal problems and his gas was a real issue for him. I’m not sure if he ever got it corrected, but I would imagine passing gas as much as Ace did would be very embarrassing and uncomfortable for him. Great video and Alive 1975 is my favorite!
I like unmasked there's not one bad song on the album. How can you not like a Kiss album that has three Ace Frehley songs? If I find fault with it it's only because there's no Peter Criss.
Funny thing is Crazy Nights was one of my favourite albums when it was released but it didn’t age well and like you it’s my least favourite now, only Thief in the Night is good on it and the title track. But Ace Frehley solo album rules I agree! Good job keep it up!
Ralph I love your videos and podcasts. They’re so real. I remember you mentioned, before the Rock and Pod Expo, that people could donate and call in to discuss music or whatever. If that opportunity ever comes again, I would love to chip and and donate. I have so much about music I’d love to discuss with you! Love your stuff man. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Hey Ralph, great job ranking the Kiss albums! I'm really enjoying all of your Kiss related videos especially your album reviews. Rock on brother. Bob F.
Unmasked is an underrated gem. That sugary sweet sound suits Kiss, and the production is top notch. I've sold Crazy nights so many times and rebought it. Only reason to own it for me is nostalgia and Bruce's solos.
It wouldn’t have matters if Peter played better than John Bonham. He thought he was better than the band, did nothing to improve his drumming, was unreliable for rehearsals, was prone to foolish actions including violence , was an ungrateful wife beater. The band was better off without him. To this day I haven’t read or heard a different opinion.
Nice to see Unplugged getting some much deserved respect. I like a lot of those versions better than the original versions like Goin' Blind, Plaster Caster, Got To Choose & Comin' Home. Domino is pretty cool after Gene finally got the words right. lol
Ace's '78 album is the best of the 4, but if Paul and Gene HOARDED all of their best songs to use on their solos albums, their's would've been better. Could you imagine if Paul's '78 solo album had "Strutter", "Hotter Than Hell", "Detroit Rock City", "Black Diamond", "C'mon And Love Me", "Mr Speed", etc. It would've slayed! Ace admitted to holding onto songs for the solo record.
I didn't think you liked 'Within". Glad you came around to it. Makes me think of a cross between George Harrison's Indian stuff and 'I Want You (She's So Heavy)'. Gene's great when he goes all Beatle-y.
I love the Elder. Got it when it came out. Yeah it was weird but i thought Kiss was just onto something i wasnt aware of yet. Made it mysterious. Still listen to it. Young and wasted is the best Kiss song. Especially off LIU. Also love Not for the Innocent and All Hell. Sooo great.
HOTTER THAN HELL!! To me is the heaviest Kiss album and possibly their best album! The guitar tones are straight out of Hell!! But I still love Creatures and Love Gun more!
2:28 The best song on Crazy Nights is "Good Girl Gone Bad". 3:18 My least favorite KIϟϟ album is Hot in the Shade. 5:06 "All for the Glory" is the best track on Sonic Boom.
I appreciate that you change your mind on the albums. Its pkei to do that. I use to dislike the Elder and Peter Criss's solo album, etc. Hell i use to be a big kiss fan until I read too much into the shit Paul had to say. Id say the least favourite of mine would be Sonic Boom and my absolute faviurite is Love Gun. But i will say this...the weakest KISS song i have ever heard was Freak. Despite its positive message, it was a lame song.
Good list. RARO and Ace along with Alive is all you need for your desert island. Elder, agree also underrated and great album. I would put Psycho higher because of Within and Into the Void, but it' s fine where you put it. Unplugged also excellent.
WHAT UP EPSON SALT 'N CO... LOVE THE CHANNEL!!!!! LOVE YOUR REVIEWS!!! NEW FROM THE BEGINNING HOW THIS WOULD WIND UP!!!! ALIVE AND ACE SOLO FUCKING ROCK!!!!! NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!!! DYNASTS' GREAT!!!!! EXCLAMATION POINTS!!!!!!!!
#1 RNRO #2 Love Gun #3 Dressed To Kill #4 Hotter Than Hell #5 Destroyer #6 KISS #7 Dynasty #8 The Elder #9 Unmasked #10 Creatures #11 Lick It Up #12 Alive #13 Alive 2 The rest are crap....
I still have my original 33 1/3 Rock And Roll Over with the sticker sheet. I also think the KISS, ACE solo is the best. Space Invader and Spaceman as well as Anomaly.
I talked to a sound man years ago who ran ound for big name acts he said "all live albums are fake to a degree, there is no good live album where there was not some kind of re-editing-re mixing done..oh and i agree with the Elder comments I am aHUGE fan of the ELDER as well.!!
FYI, that version of the first Kiss album with "Kissing Time" listed but missing from the album was likely original, a transitional/mispress from the tail end of the original pressings... On the US copies, "Kissing Time" was listed on the Side II label of the vinyl, as well as a sticker mentioning it's inclusion on the front sleeve, but was never actually pressed on the album. On Canada copies, "Kissing Time" was included in the track listings on the back of the sleeve, but not printed on the Side II label of the vinyl itself, and the track was never actually pressed to the album. I could be wrong, I'm by no means a Kiss aficionado, just happened to be digging through this info on Discogs the other day before I came across this video. $80 actually seems to be roughly the going rate (in 2022 at least).
I want to say I like Crazy Nights just because I wouldnt put it on the bottom, but, aside from the title track, I can't actually name a song on the album
Destroyer was my favorite kiss album since I was a kid. Now my opinion is kind of changed. I like rock ‘n’ roll all over or the Ace Frehley album. I love creatures of the night too.
Rock and Roll Over used to be my favourite, but Hotter Than Hell has grown on me. From Worst to Best on that Album All The Way Got To Choose Goin' Blind Watchin' You Main Line Comin' Home Parasite Hotter Than Hell Let Me Go Rock 'n' Roll Strange Ways
Crazy nights was f#ckin huge here in the UK when I was growing up, became a kiss fan against all odds
Ed Hooper It’s all about the When and Where for my favorite albums.
When I became a fan it was 1976 so when there was a curve ball in the catalog I would be disgruntled like a MOFO!!!! Crazy Nights sucks big time!!!
Alive, Destroyer, Dressed to Kill, Kiss, Love Gun, Rock and Roll Over, Alive II, Hotter than Hell, Ace Frehley solo, Paul Stanley solo in order.

Put Alive 3rd, Ace 2nd and Rock & Roll Over definitely number 1. I think you had Dressed to Kill as number 4? If so, absolutely right again.
Great video. I think I need to start checking out your other channels and Facebook. (Then get my fellow Metal Warrior Veterans to check out your stuff too)
🤘😎
Destroyer in my opinion is probably the best kiss album, and my favorite🤘
We should play drinking game every time he says pickle Whistler we drink.
this guy is the new Pepsi power hour and your headbangers ball....watchin you Alive lll is outstanding
Backup vocals on the Millennium Concert for Love Gun are phenomenal.
looks like i am in the minority here Unmasked is a great album..
I like unmasked there's not one bad song on the album. How can you not like a Kiss album that has three Ace Frehley songs? If I find fault with it it's only because there's no Peter Criss.
No, you're not in the minority. I love Unmasked too. 👍
It has some catchy songs ngl
So the Ad for it was spot on👍😁
I love it unmasked
Funny thing is Crazy Nights was one of my favourite albums when it was released but it didn’t age well and like you it’s my least favourite now, only Thief in the Night is good on it and the title track. But Ace Frehley solo album rules I agree! Good job keep it up!
Get well soon - love the vids!
New video - hell yeah!
Love the lead solo on under the rose with that full second of delay, very cool
I really suggest that you change your camera angle so your in the center of the shot
Gavin 400617 lol
Great call on Ace's album......he's a beast on that one
Hey Ralph, great job ranking the Kiss albums! I'm really enjoying all of your Kiss related videos especially your album reviews. Rock on brother. Bob F.
Unmasked is an underrated gem. That sugary sweet sound suits Kiss, and the production is top notch. I've sold Crazy nights so many times and rebought it. Only reason to own it for me is nostalgia and Bruce's solos.
Fans got bullshited on that farewell tour
Peter Criss was the R&B guy of KISS. His album is pretty good. It's just being negatively judged by fans of a different genre.
Domino is pretty cool after Gene finally got the words right. lol
Always appreciate ur reviews! Thanks Doc!
Good shit as always Dr Fukk! My faves are always changing as well
I didn't think you liked 'Within". Glad you came around to it. Makes me think of a cross between George Harrison's Indian stuff and 'I Want You (She's So Heavy)'. Gene's great when he goes all Beatle-y.
I went and cried to my mom, but she didn’t know what a pickle whistler was! 😂 great show as always!
Please fix your Ace Frehley picture disc on the wall, it's off to the right a little.
That's funny I noticed that too OCD
I love the Elder. Got it when it came out. Yeah it was weird but i thought Kiss was just onto something i wasnt aware of yet. Made it mysterious. Still listen to it. Young and wasted is the best Kiss song. Especially off LIU. Also love Not for the Innocent and All Hell. Sooo great.
Lick It Up is definitely my favorite non-makeup album and I may even put it in my top 5 Kiss albums.

I still have my original 33 1/3 Rock And Roll Over with the sticker sheet. I also think the KISS, ACE solo is the best. Space Invader and Spaceman as well as Anomaly.
i love all of your reviews…need to re-watch this and count how many times you say “pickle whistler” 😂
I talked to a sound man years ago who ran ound for big name acts he said "all live albums are fake to a degree, there is no good live album where there was not some kind of re-editing-re mixing done..oh and i agree with the Elder comments I am aHUGE fan of the ELDER as well.!!
Rock and roll over has my favorite design
honestly I agree with almost all these! nice job!
Rock n roll over rules lol great list brother keepem coming
You know what’s better than all those Kiss albums? That fucking Sabbath record sitting to your right!
You got that right!
@@almosthuman56 Ozzy >>> Paul Stanley, Tony Iommi >>> Ace Frehley. Accept it Kisstards. It's true.
Dr. Fukk >>> Paul Stanley. You can't fuck wit dat!
I like Peter's solo album as well. "I Can't Stop The Rain" should have been a single.
“Hot in the shade, what a piece of shit”
Fucking cracked me up!
Great 👍 review man
I want to say I like Crazy Nights just because I wouldnt put it on the bottom, but, aside from the title track, I can't actually name a song on the album
I like when your walls come down off crazy nights. And we are one does rule
Carnival of Souls & Revenge is great KISS albums.
Hail The Elder
Creatures and lick it up are my favorite kiss 80's albums.
Destroyer was my favorite kiss album since I was a kid. Now my opinion is kind of changed. I like rock ‘n’ roll all over or the Ace Frehley album. I love creatures of the night too.
I love Unmasked.
Dynasty , Destroyer & Creatures Of The Night in that order are no doubt KISS's best three albums.
Rock and Roll Over used to be my favourite, but Hotter Than Hell has grown on me.
From Worst to Best on that Album

Goin' Blind
Watchin' You
